Chapter 192: Are You Going to Kill Me?
Savannah never made it out of the country. Alexander had people stop her at the airport.
When they dragged her back to the villa, she looked completely wrecked. Her makeup was smeared and her hair was a mess. The bodyguards threw her to the floor like a dog.
The room was dark. Heavy curtains blocked most of the light. Savannah hit the ground hard and felt dizzy. When she finally lifted her head, she met a pair of cold blue eyes.
Alexander sat on the sofa with his legs apart, staring at her. His sharp face showed no expression, cold as ice. Savannah started shaking the moment she saw him, but she tried to stay calm. Her voice came out hoarse and a little wronged. "Alexander, what is this?"
Alexander tapped his fingers on his suit pants, his face blank. "You should be asking yourself what you did, and how much I already know."
Savannah froze. She had expected this, but seeing him like this still scared her. Her voice shook. "I... I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have drugged you, but nothing happened to you anyway."
Alexander's eyes flickered. It was true, he hadn't fallen for it. Instead, things had worked out in his favor, but that was thanks to Madison, not Savannah.
He stood up, walked over to her, and looked down. "If Madison hadn't shown up, we might be talking a very different way right now."
Savannah saw the coldness in his eyes, and the last bit of hope inside her broke. She stopped pretending to be weak. She sat up straight on the floor, fixed her messy hair, and looked at him with a small smile. "Yeah, I could never beat Madison in your eyes anyway."
Alexander's gaze turned colder, filled with disgust. She really never changed.
"I don't get it. I already promised you five percent of Frost Corporation. That's enough to live comfortably for the rest of your life. Why do something this stupid?"
Savannah tilted her head. "Do you really not get it? I've told you so many times. I love you."
Alexander sneered. "Your so-called love is just wanting to own me."
"Fine, say whatever you want," Savannah shrugged. "I have nothing left to hide. So what are you going to do with me?"
She sounded fearless, but she knew the truth. Alexander wouldn't really hurt her. He couldn't, because of who she was to him. He was the type who remembered favors, and that was why she had gotten away with so much over the years.
"What about George?" Alexander asked, his eyes dark.
Savannah looked at him, wondering if he already knew everything or was just testing her. She guessed the second one and shook her head. "I don't know. George and I have nothing to do with each other. He was the one who wouldn't let go."
"Even now, you still won't tell the truth?" Alexander muttered. He gave his assistant a look.
The assistant pulled out evidence and dropped it in front of Savannah. "This is every record of your contact with George. Photos, messages, calls. Everything. Anything you want to add?"
Savannah's face twitched. She felt sick. He already knew everything but still tried to test her. The thought that he did all this for Madison made jealousy rise fast.
She glared at Alexander, her voice raw. "Yes, it was me! The kidnapping, the car accident, all of it. So how are you going to get revenge for Madison? Kill me?"
Alexander watched her twisted, unrepentant face and felt something unfamiliar stir in his chest. "I don't recognize you anymore."
Savannah laughed coldly and looked away. "Because the obedient, sensible version of me you saw was all fake."
She knew he liked girls who were sweet and well-behaved, but she hated acting that way. Growing up, she had to pretend to be the good girl just to get a little love from her parents. She wanted someone who would love her no matter what, but Alexander wasn't like that. He had his own life. Even though he always gave her whatever she wanted, it still wasn't enough. He didn't love her the way she needed.
She didn't want to keep pretending for him, so when she met George, she decided to leave the country with him. But after leaving, she regretted it. George was fine, but he was poor, and she was tired of being broke. When friends told her Alexander still thought about her, she got an idea. Maybe the time apart would make him want her more. So she came back and left George behind.
But why did that crazy dog follow her? And why did Madison have to force her way into their relationship? Savannah started to twist inside, becoming someone she barely recognized. Even now, she didn't think she had done anything wrong. If you want something, you fight for it. What was the crime in that? It was just how she had learned to survive.
Alexander looked at the wild, broken woman in front of him and closed his eyes for a moment. He felt tired. Maybe he had never really known her at all. The Savannah in his memory had never been real.
"I'll have someone send you abroad. Money will be transferred to your account regularly. Enough for you to live on for the rest of your life. Don't come back."
Savannah's eyes lit up. She had been right. He still couldn't bring himself to hurt her. A rush of satisfaction hit her, but it faded fast when she remembered why he was doing this. Her face twisted again.
"Can I pick where I go?"
Alexander shook his head. "I've already chosen a place. Someone will watch you there for the rest of your life."
Savannah saw the cold distance in his eyes and understood at once. He was going to lock her away forever.
Her face changed. She lunged at him. "What are you doing?"
Bodyguards grabbed her and forced her down. She fought, screaming, "You're locking me up? You're going to keep me prisoner? What gives you the right to take my freedom?"
"Because you did something wrong."
Alexander's voice stayed calm even as she screamed. "If you had only hurt me, I could have let it go. I owed you that much. But you went after the kids and Madison. That's where you crossed the line."
