Jayden's angry rebuke instantly silenced the entire hall.
"What is the meaning of this?" Elijah was unable to contain his annoyance.
Jayden came from an incredible background, but the Johnson family was still formidable opponent. It was very rude of him to raise his voice at Elijah when the two families were practically on an equal footing.
In an attempt to mediate, someone moved forward and said, "Let's not get angry and keep things at peace. Maybe Vice President Jayden just misspoke."
Surprisingly, Jayden snorted and said, "I'll repeat it again; if you touch him, I'll destroy all of you! Feel free to try f you think the Cloud Group lacks the necessary skills!"
He waved his hand, abruptly dimming the hall lights.
Soon, the sound of several footsteps approaching from outside the hallway filled the whole space.
It was obvious that Cloud Group's large security crew had encircled the location.
Everyone eventually recognized that Jayden, who was usually renowned for his artificial smile, was serious this time.
"Mr. Wilson, what exactly is your connection with this kid?" Elijah asked firmly, his face turning pale.
"If he's your biological son, then maybe I can give you some respect. If not, don't hold my family accountable for his rude behavior, regardless of who shows up!"
Elijah was confident enough to say such things, leading one of the most prominent families in New York. Ultimately, despite the Cloud Group's immense power, it was still a strong dragon that couldn't suppress the local snake.
With a snort, Jayden turned to face Ethan, his face changing to one of respect. He bowed slightly, getting ready to reveal who Ethan was.
As they all held their breath, they all excitedly anticipated learning who Ethan was.
But just then, a scornful voice abruptly reverberated from outside the hallway, "You're unworthy of knowing his identity!"
An attractive woman with her hair in a ponytail, wearing crystal high heels and a red leather jacket, walked into the hall.
Elijah was infuriated to hear her rude tone, furrowing his eyebrows as he asked, "And who might you be?"
The red-haired woman arrogantly lifted her chin and said, "I'm the Wilson family's daughter!"
"The Wilson family? Where did they originate from?"
"I've never heard of the Wilsons among New York's elite families."
"They're probably third-rate!"
"Ha, a simple third-rate family dares to be arrogant in front of the Johnsons?"
She was seen as a foolish girl by the audience, who pointed and giggled at her.
However, Elijah's eyes flickered as he asked, "Which Wilson family are you referring to?"
"The one you're thinking of!" scoffed Beverly.
Elijah suddenly felt his body tremble, recalling hidden rumors.
It was said that Cloud Group ascended to prominence in just three years with the backing of a super force.
And the fabled super family, the Wilson family, was the most plausible candidate for this extraordinary backing!
The Wilson family was very renowned in England, even if their fame wasn't well-known in the upper classes since everyone was aware of their terror.
These rumors were only reinforced by Beverly's unexpected entrance, posing as a member of the Wilsons. It was true that Cloud Group served as the Wilson family's pawn in the outside world!
Elijah's face turned white in an instant. The Johnson family was like an ant in the Wilson family's eyes; easily squashed!
Furthermore, Jayden's response supported his assumption even more.
Now, instead of being full of arrogance, Jayden gave Beverly a polite glance and bowed while asking, "Miss, what brings you here?"
There was odd silence in the hall.
"Who's this woman?"
"Is the vice president of this esteemed organization truly bowing down to her?"
At this time, Ethan was still in the dark about Beverly's arrival in New York yesterday night.
His brows furrowed as he asked, "What're you doing here?"
Beverly sneered, "I'm here to let off some anger for you!"
Her eyes were disdainful and indifferent as she stared across the hall, not putting anyone in her eyes.
"I heard someone had the gall to make a scene at my Wilson family's banquet, so I came to see who the person was!"
As Beverly said that, everyone's strange eyes shifted to Elijah.
Jayden's demeanor at this moment showed that this woman was truly remarkable.
But as the Johnsons, New York's local lion, what sort of demeanor would they put on?
Everyone was anticipating an exciting fight, and they were all fired up.
However, Elijah took them all by surprise with his next move.
"Miss Wilson, I misunderstood Mr. Ethan because I was blind. I'm deeply sorry!"
With sorrow and fear on his face, he bowed down deeply.
Had it been simply Jayden, he would've felt more comfortable to compete, but even Jayden treated her with such dignity, suggesting that she most likely had close ties with the Wilsons!
She was certainly not someone Elijah could upset, regardless of her standing within the Wilson family.
"What the—am I seeing things? The Johnson family's head is apologizing?"
"I mean, even the vice president is acting so respectfully toward her. Seems like she's got a terrifying background."
"Ethan is quite lucky to have gained the support of someone so influential."
Beverly cast a mocking glance at the group of people discussing.
They're really oblivious, unable to recognize that Ethan, whom they've been underestimating, was the one with the actually-distinguished background.
"Now that you know you've messed up, why don't you leave?"
Beverly cast a scornful, disdainful glare at Elijah.
Elijah's face flushed. The Johnsons would have their reputation severely damaged if he left in this manner without any explanation.
Thus, he cleared his throat and boldly asked, "May I request that Miss Wilson tell me about Mr. Ethan's connection to you? I'd never dare bother the Wilsons, for whom I have the highest regard to. However, we still have a reputation to maintain as the Johnson family in New York, and we can't let this young man off the hook without providing clarification. That is unless he really is a member of the Wilsons!"
The crowd erupted in laughter at this, and even Elijah couldn't contain himself.
How could this worthless man be from the Wilsons?
Elijah choked back a laugh, his eyes narrowing particularly on Ethan.
He'd move to destroy Ethan as soon as his identity was made public!
The crowd gave Elijah a nod of approval as they noticed his resolve. It would be quite nice to humiliate Miss Wilson.
Beverly grinned, a very charming smile flashing among the crowd's keen stares.
She stepped to Ethan's side, wrapping her jade arms carefully around his neck. Their attractive forms blended together well, radiating a strong sense of desire and mystery.
Damn it!
The sight took everyone by surprise; their eyes widened, and the entire dinner hall's atmosphere exploded.
"Why are they suddenly hugging each other?"
"Is it possible that they're romantically involved?"
"No, no! It's impossible that Miss Wilson would be interested in someone like him."
"The sole justification is that he's got to be her... Boy toy?"
At that time, Beverly spoke up.
Her soft lips parted, her breath fragrant as orchids as she looked seductive and enticing.
"Are you curious about his identity?"
With an air of unparalleled scorn, she looked around the room and said, "You're unworthy to know!"
"Unworthy?"
The crowd grew restless, giving Ethan looks of contempt and, for the most part, jealousy.
"Not only does the Wilson family have a distinguished history, but this woman who looks after him is extremely attractive; he's clearly not at a loss!"
"How did this worthless piece of garbage find himself in such a favorable situation?"
At the side, Sharon's cheeks flushed with anger as she balled her fists, her knuckles turning white.
He just got divorced from her, and now he's become someone's boy toy!
The authoritative Elijah was furious when he heard Beverly's response.
Ethan was now being kept as a pet by the Wilson family. There's a well-known proverb saying that a dog's fate depends on its owner. Now, there was no way they could handle him!
"Let's just leave."
