Chapter 19

"What do you wanna do? Any industries catch your eye? Like, for example?" Beckett asked.

"Fashion design, I guess," Abella replied.

"Fashion design is awesome!" Beckett said, all excited. "It's summer break now, right? I actually own a small fashion company nearby. You can take it over and have some fun."

Abella stayed quiet.

"If you find being a boss more fun than school, then skip college! We've got so many businesses, you don't need a degree! What do you think?"

Abella didn't expect Beckett to be so chill about it, while Lola's hand under the table clenched into a fist.

Beckett was just gonna hand Abella a company to play with?

Even though the fashion biz was the slowest growing among the Medici family's ventures and had only started six months ago, it was still a company!

Abella had just come home for a day and was already inheriting the family business?

"If you don't wanna be self-reliant, we can just transfer money to you every day," Beckett continued.

Abella's mouth twitched.

The servants around them were envious.

That was the difference between the rich and regular folks!

Lola's nails dug into her palm as she cursed inwardly, feeling pretty resentful.

"I haven't transferred any money to you today!" Kimberly said, pulling out her phone. "I'll send you fifty million dollars first. Sweetheart, what's your bank account number?"

"No need," Abella said. She had enough money.

"Then I'll transfer it anyway. When you've made up your mind, let me know," Beckett said.

The servants were even more envious. Getting a huge sum from her parents every day, why would Abella need to run a company?

"Sweetheart, give me your bank account number quickly, or I'll have to transfer it to your Facebook in batches!" Beckett asked. "Is this your Facebook? I'll transfer it now. Is fifty million dollars too little? How about eighty million?"

Abella reluctantly said, "Give me the address."

Beckett and Kimberly were stunned for a moment, then suddenly got what Abella meant. She was choosing to take over the company?

"Great, I'll send you the address," Kimberly said, super happy. After sending the location, she smiled and said, "It's just a very small company. Even if it loses money and goes bankrupt, it's normal. Don't stress about it."

Abella stayed quiet.

"I have many companies, just have fun!" Beckett smiled.

Abella stayed quiet again.

Lola was green with jealousy, a scheme forming in her mind.

She kept a surface smile, "Abella, the clothes, shoes, and bags Mom and Dad gave you yesterday don't seem work-appropriate. I'm free today, so why don't I take you to the biggest mall in the city? I heard you moved to Empire Vista City with your adoptive parents six months ago. You haven't been to the biggest mall in the city, have you?"

"Right, Abella just got here, and we haven't taken her shopping yet. Let's go!" As soon as Kimberly finished speaking, they heard Abella say, "No need."

She wanted to be alone for a while; there were still many things to deal with.

"Abella, I'll pick some spots for you to see which one you want to go to?" Beckett asked.

"How about I take you to the spa?" Kimberly said.

"Abella, I can also join you for afternoon tea," Lola added.

"Maybe another day," Abella stood up. "I still have some things to sort out upstairs. You all enjoy."

Seeing her turn to leave, Kimberly hurriedly asked, "Do you need help packing?"

"Should I call Lauren to help you?" Beckett asked with concern, looking at her back. "Didn't you sleep well last night?"

"No, it's not that. I just have some personal stuff," Abella answered all their questions patiently before heading back to her room.

Just as she sat down on her bed, her phone buzzed. It was a call from Clare.

"Abella, there's an auction at three this afternoon with six Weed of Heart! I've got the money ready for you!"

Abella smiled, "How generous?"

"Of course! For you, Abella, it's not just about money. I'd even send someone to hell for you!" Clare jested.

Abella chuckled at the last part, "You're quite the scaredy-cat, huh?"

"I'm just valuing my life! Alright, I'll pick you up at two."

"Okay."

Abella didn't stand on ceremony. After the call ended, she sent a location.

Downstairs.

Since breakfast, Lola had been trying to butter up Beckett and Kimberly, massaging them and saying nice things, making them laugh heartily.

By noon, Beckett and Kimberly went to the kitchen, and Lola finally relaxed.

At this moment, Maria brought a plate of fruit, "Ms. Lola Medici, you've been busy all morning. Have some fruit."

Before Lola could thank her, Maria whispered, "Ms. Lola Medici, may I have a word with you?"

Lola looked up at her, understanding. Seeing another servant working nearby, she stood up and said, "Maria, take the fruit to the garden. I'll eat it there."

"Yes."

Maria followed Lola to a corner of the garden with the fruit. Seeing no one around, she said with concern, "Ms. Lola Medici, you've had it rough! In the past, you wouldn't have needed to please Mr. and Mrs. Medici like this."

Lola lowered her curled eyelashes, hiding the dejection in her eyes but not the low aura she exuded.

She didn't want to do this either, but in this family, Abella's status would only grow, while hers would diminish.

Now was her chance to catch up.

"Ms. Lola Medici, these are all premium fruits. I've cut a bit of each for you. You didn't eat much this morning," Maria said, very concerned. "By the way, I want to tell you, while the Medici family hasn't announced Abella's identity yet, to the outside world, your engagement with Mr. Bourbon still stands."

Lola's eyes lit up instantly.

Right, she still had Phillipe.

What was the status of the Medici family daughter? As long as she married Phillipe, she could have the world at her feet!

"Ms. Lola Medici, you've known Mr. Bourbon since childhood. Although you've rarely met, it's still better than Ms. Abella Medici! Ms. Abella Medici hasn't even met Mr. Bourbon!" Maria continued.

"Maria, what do you mean?" Lola had an inkling but didn't dare to say it.

"I know some people at the Bourbon family. They work at Mr. Ryan Bourbon's side. I heard that Mr. Ryan Bourbon has been fasting and refusing medication to force Mr. Phillipe Bourbon to show up. He almost died in the hospital!" Maria explained.

"What did you say?" Lola covered her mouth, clearly shocked.

"But fortunately, he was rescued in time and survived! He's now hoping you and Mr. Phillipe Bourbon will visit him together. Ms. Lola Medici, don't you have Mr. Phillipe Bourbon's contact? Why not take the initiative to invite him?" Maria suggested. "Mr. Phillipe Bourbon manages such a large group, he must be very busy. But no matter how busy he is, he's still a normal man! Seeing a beautiful girl like you take the initiative, he will be moved."

"But..."

Maria grinned with absolute certainty, "Even if Mr. Phillipe Bourbon is a bit slow on the uptake when it comes to emotions yet, it's okay. Ms. Lola Medici, you can spend more time with him, build a deeper relationship. Once you and Mr. Phillipe Bourbon are close, Ms. Abella Medici won't stand a chance!"
