Harper opened her eyes and looked up at the full moon in the cloudless sky. Then she looked around into her surroundings. The slight breeze made the shadows cast by the swaying trees dance. She shuddered in her silk nightgown.
“Hello?” she called out, her voice carried by the wind and echoed in the night.
Then an imposing figure came out from behind a massive tree. One thing was sure that it wasn’t a human. With thick fur of white and grey covering its body and icy blue eyes looking into her own brown ones. No. It couldn’t be a human, but a wolf.
An enormous wolf.
Harper gasped when the majestic beast circled around her. Its huge paws made a faint thud as soon as it hit the ground. Her heart started to beat wildly in her chest when its gaze crawled up and down her body. Its jaws opened slightly, saliva dripping, sharp teeth glistening like it couldn’t wait to sink into her flesh.
“Don’t hurt me,” Harper managed to whisper, a whirlwind of emotions scattered inside her except for fear. For some odd reasons, she didn’t feel any fear toward the big, bad-looking wolf.
Then the beast’s ears perked up like something was calling it. Then in seconds, it loped back into the woods and disappeared.
And for some even odder reason, Harper found herself running after it. “Wait! Wait for me! Don’t leave me! Wait!”
She ran fast, passing trees and following the path made before her, until she was met by another figure. But it wasn’t a wolf. It was a man near a lake, its full naked body drenched by the light from the moon.
Harper wheezed from the rush of wind from behind her, and she shuddered at the sight in front of her. She closed her eyes, and as soon as she opened them again, the man was already standing right in front of her.
The same amber eyes locked into hers.
“Hello again, my dear Harper?” the man asked, his voice was deep and laced with desire.
“What are you?” Harper asked, instead.
“I’m surprised that you still haven’t figured out yet.”
“What are you doing here?”
The man smirked. “Because you’re a curious little cat.”
“What am I doing here?”
The man smiled. “The same reason why you were here last week. And the week before that. And the week before―”
“What? No. I wasn’t here last week or the week after that. I don’t understand. Why do I keep coming back? Why is it always the same―”
"Shhh.” The man cut her off by raising his finger over his mouth. “I can smell your arousal, my dear Harper?” he groaned and took in her scent.
Harper opened her mouth to reply, but the man slipped her nightgown off her head, then picked her up and placed her onto a flower bed. Without giving her a chance to speak another word, he started to plant soft kisses on the corners of her lips, then moved down her jaw, then sank his teeth into her shoulder before kissing his way down her throat.
Harper couldn’t help the gasp that escaped her throat as soon as she felt his hot mouth closed over her breast, rough hand dragging up and down her ribcage and her waist. His other hand was stroking her inner thighs, teasing her center.
Then teeth nipped the tender tips of her breasts. She began to moan with pure need. “What are you?” she breathed the question again.
But the man responded with his tongue, lapping and curling around her hardened buds with it. When Harper opened her mouth again to demand an answer somehow, strong hands suddenly gripped her ankles up. She groaned loudly in pleasure as soon as she felt tongue licking her wet folds.
“Be still, my dear Harper,” the man growled from between her legs, licking her aggressively.
Harper’s blood pulsed and gathered in the center of her body where the man had his full attention on. An orgasm was within her reach, then it stopped. Her body collapsed from near convulsion when the man’s teasing tongue trailed away from her throbbing bud.
“Are you kidding me?” She whined underneath. Her eyes raked the man’s naked chest. She was about to throw a fit when he went down on her again—kissing the crease of her things then sucking on her dripping folds.
Though at first, it came as a surprise to her how her body reacted, Harper writhed and tried to grind against the tongue when she lost every inch of control in her body. She no longer cared. She had not been with a man for years, and some nights had been harder on her. She was going to take whatever she could from him.
And when she felt the man’s mouth closed over her center and began to suck and lick her faster, she screamed in a hot mess. She couldn’t believe how a tongue could send her soaring over the edge and into her first climax in years. She could no longer take it. Blood rushed to the throbbing between her legs. She let out a series of loud moans when the pleasure was too much for her body to handle.
“Come now, my dear Harper.”
She grabbed the man’s luscious locks and gripped it as she cried in ecstasy. For her, there were no proper words to describe the extreme sensation she was riding on.
After years of wondering what it would be like to be with a man again, she was finally with one. And a perfect one at that.
She slumped, and while she was still panting heavily, tension built again inside her when she felt the head of the man’s erection at her entrance.
“Are you ready for the main course?” she heard the man said. She swallowed hard as soon as she felt him slowly work his full length inside her.
“You’re going to have to spread wider for me, my dear Harper.”
Oh, shit!
Then Harper snapped awake, fighting for her gasp and sweating all over her body.
“What the hell?” she muttered to herself.
It was another one of those really weird dreams she had since she started working at the Carmichaels – which she was very much confident only happened because she was both stressed out and frustrated working for corporate.
And as she gave it much thought, she realized that that particular dream was so much different than her previous ones. Because this time, the wolf’s eyes were different, and the man by the lake wasn’t Lucas.
“Alex? What the fuck?” Harper hissed.
