Chapter 76 – Wedding Pt 2
Isabelle Reinhart.
In that fleeting moment, as I walked down the aisle behind Emily, I couldn't help but notice Ace's reaction. Our eyes locked, and I winked at him playfully, fully expecting a teasing response or at least a mischievous smile. But instead, his reaction was something I hadn't anticipated.
Ace had gone rigid, his expression unreadable. His gaze was locked onto me, yet he seemed to be avoiding my eyes. Confusion swirled in my mind. What had happened?
Ace’s mood swings were really hard to decipher sometimes. One minute he would be the funniest, most annoying person on the planet and the next he would just completely shut himself off. I just hoped it wasn’t one of those.
The ceremony continued, and it was soon time for the vows. Ace reached into his pocket, presumably to retrieve the page with Noah's handwritten vows. But before he could do so, Noah shook his head and took a step forward.
His voice was steady as he began, his words filled with deep emotion. "Emily," he started, his eyes locked onto his bride, "from the moment I met you, my life changed in ways I never could have imagined."
A soft murmur of agreement rippled through the audience, and I watched as Emily's eyes glistened with tears of happiness.
Noah continued, his voice unwavering. "I promise to be your rock, your confidant, and your partner in all things. I'll be there to lift you up when you're down and to celebrate with you when life is good. I vow to stand by your side, no matter what challenges may come our way."
His words were beautiful and heartfelt, "I promise to look after the twins while you take your princess sleep. And, Emily, I promise that I'll happily unclog the shower drain, even though only one of us has long hair." Laughter erupted from the guests, including me, as I brushed an escaped tear from my cheek.
"But seriously," he continued, "I promise to cherish you, to love you fiercely, and to handle your mood swings with patience and understanding." He paused for a moment, and his gaze softened as he locked eyes with Emily. "Because, my love, there is nothing in this world that I wouldn't do for you. You are my heart, and I am yours, now and forever."
Tears streamed down Emily's cheeks as she gazed at her soon-to-be husband with overwhelming love.
I had Emily’s vows in my clutch just in case but she told me she wasn’t going to be reading and would probably say whatever was on her mind at the time. She took a deep breath, ready to speak her vows from the heart.
"Noah," she began, her voice filled with emotion, "from the moment we met, you've been my rock, my source of laughter, and the love of my life. I can't imagine a day without your smile brightening it, and I promise to cherish and protect that smile for all our days together."
There was a collective sigh from the guests, captivated by the sincerity in her words.
Emily continued with a teasing grin but her voice broke in between with emotions, "I promise to put up with your dad jokes, even when they make everyone else groan. And, just so you know, I'll keep a running tally of how many times I'm right and you're wrong. But let's be honest, it'll be a pretty lopsided score, and that's okay. I’ll purposely let you win sometimes. Sometimes."
Laughter rippled through the crowd, and Noah chuckled, brushing off a tear from his eye and my heart swelled with warmth.
Noah Black was crying. I didn’t think I’d see the day.
"But on a more serious note," Emily said, her tone softening, "I promise to stand by your side through thick and thin, to support your dreams, and to be your partner in all of life's adventures. I vow to listen when you need to talk, and I vow to give you space when you need to think."
"And, Noah," she concluded, her voice trembling with emotion, "I promise to love you fiercely, with all my heart, for the rest of my days. You are my forever, and I can't wait to start this incredible journey as husband and wife."
As Emily and Noah exchanged rings and sealed their vows with a kiss, the room erupted into cheers and applause. Their love story, a beautiful blend of everything perfect.
I smiled as my eyes locked with Ace once again. My heart did a somersault as he gave me a subtle smile and I blushed in response, noticing his gaze lingering on me in an expectant way and I couldn’t quite decipher his look in that moment.

The reception hall was buzzing with laughter and chatter as everyone settled into their seats, ready for the best man's toast. I watched from my place at the table, my curiosity piqued, as Ace stood up. He unbuttoned a single button of his suit jacket with a sly grin on his face, champagne glass in hand.
He began with a playful grin, "I'm Ace Rhodes, for anyone who somehow doesn't know me, well, first, you should, and second, I'm Noah's brother; but we won’t hold that against him."
I couldn't help but notice how Noah's eyes lit up at the word "brother." Ace didn't typically use that term, and it seemed to hold special importance for Noah.
Ace continued, his tone mischievous, "Now, I've known Noah for a long time, and let me tell you, I still remember the day he called me, sounding like a schoolgirl who just met his celebrity crush."
Laughter filled the room, and Noah blushed, shaking his head as if trying to deny the memory.
Ace went on, a grin tugging at his lips, "He was going on and on about this girl he'd met, about how she was so beautiful and how she was just his 'friend.' Well, look where that ‘friendship’ got them."
More laughter followed, and Emily blushed, her smile lighting up the room.
Ace turned to Emily, raising his glass in a salute. "Emily, thank you for accepting Noah even when he was in his fringiest phase of life. We all appreciate it, I seriously don’t know how you put up with his leather jacket era ‘cause most of the times I seriously wanted to wring his neck."
A collective chuckle ran through the audience, and Emily nodded graciously.
"But, my dear brother," Ace continued, a mischievous glint in his eye, "I promise not to embarrass you too much today. I won't tell anyone how scared you were when you picked a fight with Jimmy in middle school and quite literally pissed your pants."
Gasps of surprise and amusement filled the room as Noah's face turned a shade of crimson, and he shot Ace a half-pleading, half-threatening look.
Ace chuckled, clearly relishing the moment, "And let's not forget those cooking adventures, Noah. Every time you decided to whip up something in the kitchen, I had to go from room to room switching off the fire alarms. You've really come a long way since then. Again, thanks to Emily, trained my boy well.
The guests erupted into laughter again, and even Noah couldn't help but join in, shaking his head in mock embarrassment.
Ace's gaze softened as he looked at Noah, and he raised his glass once more. "But in all seriousness, Noah, I've watched you grow, and I've watched your love for Emily grow stronger with each passing day. Every time you two would get into a fight, I’d watch you absolutely shut down without her. You two are meant to be together, and I couldn't be happier for you."
With a wink in Noah's direction, Ace concluded, "So, here's to Noah and Emily, a match made in heaven. May your love continue to flourish, and may your life together be filled with joy, laughter, and more unforgettable stories so I can embarrass you in front of Zoe and Ezra. Cheers!"
As Ace finished his toast, he cleared his throat and added, "Oh, and before I sit down, I want to extend a special thanks on behalf of the bridesmaids and, of course, the beautiful maid of honor."
His gaze lingered on me, and the room seemed to hold its breath for a moment. A warm, lingering smile played on Ace's lips before he took his seat, leaving a trail of nerves up my spine.
