Chapter 50: Chapter 50) Got the job/ Unsettled.
“Congratulations, ladies. You got the job”. Madam Cecilia said to them after inquiring about their background and all that.
“What?! That's great”. Kate exclaimed, and the expression on her face showed how happy she was. Tears even gathered in her eyes as she forced herself not to cry.
“Thank you so much! I really needed this job!”. She greeted Madam Cecilia, but the instant she bowed her head, her lips formed a smirk. Of course, she was overreacting, and she perfectly knew that.
Honestly speaking, she had already guessed that Cecilia, or whoever it was who was in charge of hiring workers, was definitely going to hire her and Lisa.
After all, they were the only ones who showed up for the job, and that technically meant no competition of any sort.
‘Plan A of my plan is in motion. That's perfect’. She thought to herself and lifted her head.
At this point, tears were streaming down her cheeks.
“It's okay, miss Kate”. Cecilia said with a chuckle, but what hid behind her chuckle was the worries of a troubled mom and a grandma.
She was worried that a frail looking werewolf like Kate wasn't going to last in the mansion, and thinking about that was breaking her heart.
‘Or should I allow her to stay with me?’. She wondered, then added in her mind, ‘What a poor young child. I wonder how she must be feeling after being left alone in this cruel world’.
She shook her head in pity, and with a sigh, she said to them, “Both of you are free to return home now. But make sure you report for work tomorrow morning”.
“You will both be stationed to work in this mansion, and if your merits become high, you can work in the main mansion and receive more payment”.
Lisa’s eyes lightened up a bit as she heard the word, ‘Receive more payment’.
Hearing that word was enough to give her hope.
Exactly, because with the payment that she was going to receive from working in the Lycan King's mansion, she would be able to take care of her little brother and their sick mom.
They would not have to starve any longer.
Thinking about that almost made her want to cry, but she had to withhold her tears because she did not want anyone asking her questions and finding out about her problem. That was because, during the interview, she only mentioned that she had a little brother and a mother.
She had not mentioned anything concerning the condition they were in, because she was afraid that if Madam Cecilia learned about the miserable condition that she and her family were in, she wouldn't give her the job.
Though, that was just her imagination.
“Thank you, Madam Cecilia. I will definitely report for work tomorrow morning!”. Lisa declared with sparkling eyes and was truly looking forward to her first day of working in the mansion.
But, that was not the same case for Cecilia, who was busy having several pitiful thoughts in her head. ‘Look at them. Naive and so full of life. Did I make the wrong decision by giving them the job?’. She thought, because she pitied them and felt that working in the mansion was going to break the hopeful look on their faces.
And for some reason, she didn't want something like that to happen to them.
Oh well, what could she do about it?
After all, it looked like they really needed the job.
Anyway, she excused herself and left her office room as there was something important that needed her presence.
As for Kate and Lisa, they also left the room and headed outside the mansion. Both of them had bright smiles on their faces, and whoever saw them began to think if they had won a lottery or had hit the jackpot.
Because, if they had not won any lottery or jackpot, why were they happy in a place like the Lycan King's mansion?
What good could come out of such a place like that?
Definitely nothing good but only sorrow.
They arrived outside the mansion.
“See you tomorrow, Lisa”. Kate said to her with a smile.
“Yeah. See you too”. Lisa replied to her, before she turned and left, heading in a different way.
As for Kate, she stood there and watched her leave.
“I guess she is not the shy type of person”. She said, after figuring out that she must have behaved the way she did because she was nervous about getting the job.
She sighed after recalling something. “Madam Cecilia should have given me a job at the main mansion”. She said and felt a little disappointed.
But, she was glad that she was accepted to be a worker. Meaning that there was plenty of time for her to earn merits and get the chance to work in the main mansion, where she would definitely cross paths with the Lycan King.
…
“What are we going to do, babe? You have not told me a valid answer since we returned from the moonlight pack. Are we going to continue pacing back and forth while she is out there alive, and is now the Luna of the moonlight pack?”.
Elora said and was very restless.
Ever since Alejandro's wedding, she has not been able to sleep well at night without thinking.
Not when Demira was stuck in her head and she could not stop herself from thinking about her. Most importantly, she was angry and… jealous. Yes, jealous.
She did not understand how a nobody like Demira, who wasn't worthy of cleaning her shoes, and who was supposed to have died, became a Luna who had more power and authority than her.
