Chapter 50

*Alexander's POV*

As Scarlett and I stood side by side in the kitchen, preparing a meal for our children, the air was filled with laughter and the comforting aroma of spices. It was a cherished family moment, a time when we could come together and create something delicious as a team.

But in an instant, the atmosphere shifted. Scarlett, who had been bustling around the kitchen with energy and enthusiasm, suddenly slumped onto a nearby chair. Concern flooded my senses as I rushed to her side, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Scarlett, are you okay?" I asked, my voice laced with worry. Her face was pale, and beads of sweat had formed on her forehead.

She looked up at me, her eyes filled with a mix of exhaustion and discomfort. "I... I don't feel well, Alexander," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Worry gripped my heart as I quickly assessed the situation. "Kids, go to your playroom for a moment, please," I instructed our little ones, their eyes wide with concern as they obeyed.

As they left the room, I knelt down beside Scarlett, trying to offer some comfort and support. "What's wrong, love? Do you need me to call a doctor?"

She shook her head weakly, her hand gripping mine tightly. "I... I think it's just a sudden bout of dizziness. Maybe I pushed myself too hard today."

My mind raced with possibilities, trying to determine the cause of her discomfort. Had she been overexerting herself? Was it something more serious? Regardless, I knew that I needed to be there for her, to support her in any way I could.

"Let's get you to the couch, and you can rest for a bit," I suggested, gently helping her to her feet. With steady steps, I guided her towards the living room, making sure she was comfortable before sitting beside her.

She leaned against me, her head resting on my shoulder. "I'm sorry, Alexander. I didn't mean to disrupt our cooking session," she murmured, her voice tinged with exhaustion.

I kissed the top of her head, my heart filled with love and concern. "Don't worry about that, Scarlett. Your well-being is the most important thing right now. We can always continue cooking another time."

In that moment, everything else faded into the background. The meal we had been preparing, the chores waiting to be done-they all paled in comparison to the woman in my arms, the one who had shared my joys and sorrows, my triumphs and failures.

As we sat there, embracing the silence and finding solace in each other's presence, I couldn't help but reflect on the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. Tomorrow was uncertain, and all we had was the present, this precious time together.

"Alexander," Scarlett whispered, breaking the quietude that had enveloped us. "Thank you for always being there for me, for taking care of our family."

A surge of gratitude washed over me as I looked into her tired but loving eyes. "It's my honor and privilege, Scarlett. You and our children are my world, and I will always be here for you, through thick and thin."

"But, are you okay?" I asked slowly.

"I guess, nothing's wrong with me medically, I'm sure, but.." I raised my brows at the but.

"But what?.."

"I might be pregnant.."
