Nydia’s expression turned ugly.
At first sight, Lambert showed no courtesy to Penny. How could this date proceed like this?
Moreover, Penny was the daughter of an old friend of hers. She had played with Lambert when they were children.
Although Penny’s family background was not as affluent as theirs, she was their only daughter and had received good upbringing.
Especially since Penny was a high–achieving graduate from Harvard University. Such a girl was talented, beautiful, and led a clean private life.
She was a perfect match for their family! Nydia couldn’t understand why Lambert was so averse to her!
Seeing that the mother and son were about to quarrel again, Odgen quickly intervened, “Alright, let’s calm down. Let’s just treat this as meeting a new friend, isn’t that nice?”
Lambert’s expression softened slightly at this, but he didn’t sit next to Penny. Instead, he walked over to Nydia and said, “Mom, since this young lady is your friend, why don’t you accompany her?”
Penny’s embarrassment and grievance disappeared momentarily at Lambert’s words, but she quickly adjusted her expression and warmly walked over to Nydia, linking her arm with hers, “In that case, Aunt, why don’t you sit with me?”
Watching Penny’s gracious demeanor, Nydia became even more dissatisfied with Lambert’s behavior today.
“Lambert! Is this how I taught you? Have you forgotten basic gentlemanly manners?” Nydia retorted, her tone filled with disappointment.
Lambert met Nydia’s gaze with a blank expression, but the dissatisfaction in his eyes made Nydia inwardly sigh.
This time, they were indeed in the wrong for inviting Penny without informing Lambert. Even if Lambert was unhappy about it, there was nothing wrong with that.
A mother knows her child best. With this thought, Nydia found it hard to continue scolding Lambert. She just sat down beside Penny with a cold face.
The waiter quickly arrived with the menu. “Sir, what would you like to order?”
Before Lambert could speak, Penny spoke up, “I remember Lambert seems to love mint–flavored pastries. Am I right?”
Nydia’s eyes lit up, “Penny, you remember? Lambert has loved this since he was a child, and it hasn’t

changed over the years. It’s amazing that you remembered.”
Penny blushed slightly, her eyes showing a hint of shyness as she glanced at Lambert, “Some things are always remembered. Lambert, they have a delicious mint tiramisu here. Would you like to try it?”
To Lambert’s surprise, Penny didn’t receive even a glance from him. He simply said to the waiter in a
cold tone, “A cup of coffee, thank you.”
Penny felt extremely awkward. The waiter also looked hesitant as he glanced at her, “Would you like the
mint tiramisu?”
“Yes!”
“No!”
Nydia and Lambert almost simultaneously rejected it, making the atmosphere even more awkward.
Penny pretended to be magnanimous and smiled, “Since he doesn’t like it, then forget it.”
The waiter wiped the sweat from his forehead and hurried away. Nydia’s expression became even darker.
The coffee arrived soon after. Penny took the initiative to ask, “Would you like sugar?”
Lambert replied indifferently, “No, thank you.”
His distant and indifferent tone clearly indicated his attitude. If this woman wasn’t foolish, she should
know when to back off.
But Lambert clearly underestimated Penny’s persistence.
Despite his cold attitude, she continued to chat warmly with Lambert’s parents.
Nydia felt guilty for her son’s lack of cooperation and even engaged in lively conversation with Penny
because of it.
Lambert felt speechless. His mother was really causing trouble for him.

Just then, Lydia pushed open the doors of the Queen Hotel with Wythe and Andrew.
As a gesture of gratitude for Andrew’s care for them, especially after Wythe spent the night at his place
before, Lydia had offered to treat Andrew to a meal.
When a beauty invites, how could Andrew refuse? He readily agreed, happy to spend more time with Lydia no matter what.
Although Lydia was the one treating, as a gentleman, Andrew had already reserved a table at the Queen Hotel early on. When they arrived, they could just sit down.

As they pushed open the doors, Lydia immediately spotted Lambert among the crowd. He sat there with a cold expression, holding a cup of coffee, his eyes devoid of any emotion.
Lydia couldn’t help but feel a flush rise to her ears at the sight of him.
Unconsciously, she took a step forward, wanting to approach Lambert, but then she suddenly realized
that there were several other people sitting beside Lambert…
Wythe, who was always attentive to his mother, noticed her gaze falling on Lambert.
Of course, he also saw the two middle–aged couple, who were obviously his grandparents. And there was a decent–looking young woman sitting beside them.
Was this a date?
Wythe had watched enough TV dramas to understand the situation at a glance.
But at the same time, he furrowed his brows. Dad already had Mom, so why would he go on a date? Was
Dad a fickle man?
However, seeing the woman’s proactive and enthusiastic demeanor contrasted with Lambert’s coldness,
Wythe felt that perhaps Dad was being coerced.
Wythe rubbed his chin thoughtfully, a hint of cunning in his eyes.
If that was the case, he might as well reluctantly step forward to help Dad!
Meanwhile, Lydia was feeling uneasy. Just yesterday, Lambert had been affectionate with her, but now, a seemingly planned dinner date appeared before her eyes.
She began to doubt whether Lambert’s previous behavior had all been a lie.
With this thought, Lydia’s face paled, and Andrew, seeing Lydia standing still, grew concerned. “What’s wrong? Lydia, are you feeling unwell?”
Snap out of her thoughts, Lydia met Andrew’s tender eyes, hesitating for a moment before shaking her head. “It’s nothing. Where are we seated?”
Not wanting to delve further, Andrew assumed Lydia might be tired from work and hurriedly led her to their reserved table.
Coincidentally, Lydia’s table was positioned to the right of Lambert’s, with some distance between them.
Although Lydia couldn’t hear what they were saying, she could observe their expressions clearly, especially the woman sitting opposite Lambert.
Objectively speaking, Lydia found this girl to be quite attractive.
She was poised and elegant yet had a charming innocence that ordinary women lacked.

Especially when she smiled, revealing two small dimples on her cheeks, with her slightly curly hair and delicate features resembling a Barbie doll.
Lydia couldn’t help but feel her heart sink as she thought that Lambert might be attracted to such a
woman.
Especially considering the demeanor of the woman’s accompanying matron, it seemed that their family was also pleased with her?
With this thought, Lydia felt a sudden emptiness in her heart, her mind going blank. What would she do if
Lambert really fell for someone else?
Strong anxiety filled Lydia’s chest, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Just the thought of that man belonging to someone else caused her heart to ache as if it were being
sliced by a knife. Unbeknownst to her, she had unknowingly fallen in love with that cold, arrogant, and domineering man!
Lost in her thoughts, Lydia bowed her head, oblivious to the fact that her son, who had been walking
beside her, had already walked over to Lambert.
“Dad!”
A sudden shout shattered the awkward atmosphere at Lambert’s table. Lambert set down his coffee cup, his eyes filled with surprise. “Jamie?”
Wythe bounced over to Lambert in excitement, and Lambert lifted him up, his usually expressionless face softening. “How did you end up here?”
Odgen and Nydia, seated beside Lambert, and across from him, were completely stunned. They couldn’t
have misheard, could they? This child called him Dad? How was that possible?
It was precisely because Lambert was reluctant to marry that they eagerly arranged this blind date dinner. And now, out of the blue, a son appeared?
Penny, too, was bewildered by this sudden turn of events. Lambert’s coldness towards her she could accept, but a son showing up out of nowhere?
She did want to marry Lambert, that was true, but she can’t sign up to be a stepmother right away!
