Chapter 9 Chapter Nine
Ryder smiles at me. “Fine, but you are still riding to school with me this morning. So, eat some breakfast.”
I sigh giving in. There is no point in arguing with him. I pull out my phone to send Logan a text.
Me: Hey, I won’t be on the bus this morning. I will see you at school.
His response is almost immediate.
Logan: Okay beautiful. I hope everything is okay. See you at school. (kissy face)
“You texting your boyfriend?” Ryder asks as I follow him into the kitchen to eat a quick bowl of cereal.
“Please stop calling him my boyfriend.” I say giving Ryder a death glare.
Ryder smirks in response and I grab a small bowl of cereal, even though I’m really not that hungry. We eat in awkward silence. “You ready sis?” Ryder asks at seven thirty. I nod my head and we head out to the driveway where his corvette is parked.
“Don’t forget to buckle up.” Ryder says once we get settled in his surprisingly comfortable car.
“Got it.” I say as he pulls out of the driveway, headed in the opposite direction of the school.
I look at him with furrowed brows. “Where are we going?”
Ryder shrugs. “School.”
“The school is the opposite direction.”
Ryder just smiles. About thirty-five minutes later we pull up outside an abandoned warehouse building. “You going to kill me?” I ask looking around the building looks like it could fall in at any minute and the grass is grown up.
“No, I’m not going to kill you.” Ryder says laughing.
“Then why are we here?”
Ryder shrugs. “Don’t feel like going to school yet.” I stare at him confused. First, he wouldn’t let me ride the bus now he is holding me hostage at some creepy warehouse.
A couple minutes pass and I feel my phone vibrate.
Logan: Hey what’s going on? You aren’t in first period.
Harrison: Hey baby! Missed you on the bus this morning.
Aaron: You going to be here gorgeous?
Calvin: Why weren’t you on the bus baby?
Ryder leans over looking at my screen. “Your boyfriends texting you?”
I give him an evil glare. “They are trying to figure out where the hell I am at and honestly so am I.”
Ryder runs his hand up my thigh and I suck in a breath. “I brought you out here, because no one ever comes out here and I wanted some alone time with you.”
“Ryder seriously. Don’t you think we had enough alone time last night?”
He laughs and runs his hand up higher on my thigh making me shiver. “No I don’t think we did and since you don’t want to take your little boyfriend’s hoody off, I need to put my mark on you.” Ryder unbuckles his seatbelt and does the same to mine.
“You are not marking me.”
“Oh yes I am baby.” Ryder says leaning over to kiss my neck.
I moan and lean into his touch. “Ryder you got to stop.”
“Not until my mark is somewhere on your body.”
“Fine.” I whisper and I pull away from him to take Logan’s hoody off. “If you are going to mark me somewhere I want it somewhere no one else is going to see it.”
Ryder smiles. “Fine with me.” He leans over and continues kissing my neck down to my collarbone and finally he starts kissing and sucking on my cleavage.
After what felt like an eternity Ryder places a few soft kisses across my chest before taking my lips in a passionate kiss. I can’t help but moan into his mouth. That familiar heat spreading to my lower region and I have to pull away, coming up for a breath of fresh air.
“Are you happy now?” I ask looking down at the mark on my left breast.
Ryder smiles. “Yes I am.”
I roll my eyes. “Good, now can we please go to school.”
“Sure thing.” He says leaning over to give me a quick peck on the lips and buckle my seatbelt.
How the hell did I get myself into this situation with my stepbrother of all people and why is he suddenly being so possessive? He has hated me since the first day our parents introduced us. The drive to school feels like hours even though it’s only about fifty minutes. Ryder pulls into the parking lot and kills the engine. I waste no time unbuckling and climbing out of his car before he can change his mind.
I pull Logan’s hoody back over my head as quickly as I can before someone sees the extremely red hickey on my cleavage and head to my Chemistry class. Ryder catches up to me and wraps his arm around my shoulder. “Why are you in such a hurry sis?”
Attempting and failing to get his arm off of me I huff. “I have already missed two classes and probably most of my chemistry class, I don’t want to miss anymore this morning.”
“Don’t worry Ms. Kim loves me, she won’t care that we are late.”
“You aren’t even in Chemistry so of course she won’t care that you are late, she will however care that I am late considering that today is only my second day at this school.”
Ryder laughs. “I am in Chemistry sis.”
What the hell does he mean he is in Chemistry; he wasn’t in there yesterday. “Why weren’t you in there yesterday then?” I ask growing more annoyed by the second.
Ryder shrugs his shoulders. “Didn’t feel like going.”
“Right. Why didn’t I think of that? You are unbelievable.” I say shaking my head. “You can let go of me now.”
Ryder smirks. “Don’t want your boyfriend to see us together? Logan is in this class, right?”
“Ryder just let go of me.”
“Nope sis. Not going to happen.” He says with that irritating smirk as he opens the door to the Chemistry classroom.
The entire room goes silent, and all eyes turn to us. I feel my face heat up and honestly, I just want to crawl under a rock. Logan is the first person I notice. He is staring at Ryder’s arm around my shoulder as an array of emotions crosses his face. Confusion, anger, understanding, and I really hate myself right now for letting Ryder get to me.
“Ms. Langley, Mr. Hansley you are extremely late.” Ms. Kim says placing her hand on her hip.
Ryder gives his best innocent smile. “I am so sorry Ms. Kim it is my fault we are late. I had car troubles this morning.”
Car trouble? Seriously? I have to bite my tongue to keep from scoffing.
Ms. Kim’s stern look softens and she sighs, “Okay Mr. Hansley take your seat. You guys will have to get with your fellow classmates to get today’s notes. You missed some important information that will be on the final test.”
