So, Roxanne smiled and waited to see Serena give in and admit defeat!
On Stephanie’s side, Jeremiah was already totally freaking out.
“What was Maxwell doing!” Jeremiah stood right up. If Stephanie hadn’t pressed his arm, he probably would’ve rushed over to Maxwell.
“He brought Roxanne here, fine, he let Roxanne use his number to bid, fine, he even let Roxanne bid against you for that Tanzanite, I could still say he didn’t know what was going on with the Tanzanite, but now?”
Jeremiah’s chest kept heaving with anger.
“At a live auction with reporters present, and it would be reported in the news later, he engaged in unlimited bidding for his mistress. Does he ever think about his wife?”
Jeremiah looked at Stephanie, who still had that calm look on her face, and felt more heartache than anger.
Everyone there knew that even though the auction inside the villa was private and everyone followed the rules and kept quiet about it, once the auction ended and they left the villa, everyone would definitely
find out.
Whether it was the reporters or Roxanne, none of them would let this chance go.
So, “Stephanie” was definitely going to become a joke nailed to the pillar of shame!

This was still when nobody knew that Serena was actually Stephanic.
If I knew…
Jeremiah just couldn’t imagine.
But Stephanie just calmly looked at Maxwell standing over there, her face hidden under the mask, and no one knew what she was thinking. –
It turned out it only took seven years.
Seven years could totally change a boy.
Let him easily give all the special treatment he once gave her to other
Women.
What flashed before my eyes was seven years ago, at that private auction, the boy standing up with his right hand raised high over his head.
Finally, the corners of Stephanie’s mouth lifted a little, drawing a hint of a mocking smile on her face, but her eyes were cold.
“Serena, are we still bidding?” Jeremiah asked worriedly from the side.
But Stephanie’s lips were all smiles.
There was no frustration, oppression, or resentment from lack of money or power, only laughter.
After a burst of dazzling lights, the auctioneer spoke up excitedly: “The bidding was still going on, everyone, please keep bidding.”
But my eyes looked over at seat 823.
Everyone there was like that.
Everyone wanted to see what choice the woman holding the number

823 sign would make.
Right at that moment, everyone saw a hand slowly reaching out from the shadows.
It was still that snow–white hand, holding the number 823 sign.
Then, on the next board, there was a string of numbers.
At the same time, on the auctioneer’s stage, the bidding numbers changed.
5 million.
A new number showed up in everyone’s eyes.
The auctioneer looked at the bidding number in disbelief, then looked
at the hand on the second floor, checking again and again.
Finally, the auctioneer said loudly:
“Bidder 823 kept bidding, offered 5 million!”
The crowd went wild.
“823 was still bidding?! What did she mean?”
“Maxwell engaged in unlimited bidding, and she still raised?”
“Did she actually want to blow up Maxwell’s lamp?”
“It’s already five million now, that Tanzanite itself was only worth one million, if it got sold now, that would be five times the original price!”
“Was there something fishy going on?”
“Was it the stone’s problem, or the person’s problem?”

Everyone looked at each other, then someone asked the key question-
“If two people lit a lamp for the same item at the same time, how did that count?”
The room went quiet for two seconds, then someone said, “Let’s see who can hold out.”
“I remember four years ago there was a double lamp, and back then that competitor’s item got auctioned for a sky–high price.”
“Overnight, just because of that one competing product, most of the family’s fortune–where that young scion from Montester came from- was wiped out, and the family, who used to be one of the big shots in Montester, even dropped in status! There were a bunch of
consequences after that, and it took the very family years to recover. This thing was pretty famous in Montester.”
“So scary?”
“Yeah, if it was a double–light situation, it meant emotions took over, and you couldn’t back down, you just had to tough it out. You never knew whether you or the other person would give up first, and you also didn’t know if the final auction price was something you could actually handle.”
“So that’s how it was.”
“But 823 didn’t say she was going to light the lamp, right? She was just bidding, so what was she doing?”
“I didn’t get it.”
