Maxwell hesitated a bit, then went on, “We already got the certificate. but the property division is still in process. We’ll let you know if there’s any update.”
“As for the cooperation, we the Humphrey Group would arrange the right people to handle the handover, so please don’t panic.”
Maxwell said a lot, and the flash kept going off.
Finally, it was time for the reporters to ask questions.
A reporter immediately asked, “Mr. Humphrey, can you tell us the reason for your divorce from Stephanie? We checked the timeline of your first attempt to file for divorce, and it seemed pretty close to the times you were seen coming and going with Roxanne. Was it because of Roxanne?”
Maxwell’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
But before he answered that question, another person
person stood
up and asked, “Mr. Humphrey, what did Stephanie take with her in this divorce? You said something is still being processed–what process is that? Weren’t these things already settled and sorted out before?”
There were a lot of reporters at the scene, and a lot of people were watching the livestream. Everyone was waiting for Maxwell’s answer.
Backstage, Roxanne nervously watched Maxwell, the Wilkinson’s mansion, Stephanie/watched Belinda who was staring at the kitten, and in her ear was Maxwell’s response.

Under all kinds of flashes, Maxwell finally spoke.
He said, “About the first question, there really were feelings between me and Roxanne, but the divorce was something Stephanie and I decided on together. It had nothing to do with Roxanne.”
“The second issue, we had disagreements about our divorce agreement, maybe needed to go through the lawsuit process, so I couldn’t be sure what I would take.”
He paused for a moment and went on, “But like I said before, we signed an agreement before we got married to keep the group intact, so there wouldn’t be any problems with the shares.”
The flash was still going off, and on the player, Maxwell admitted to Roxanne and defended Roxanne.
Stephanie looked at Maxwell on the screen.
That night, it was clearly just him insisting. She asked him many times, but all she got was, “Stephanie, don’t make me think you’re mean.”
If that was what he called the result after negotiation.
Also, he didn’t directly respond to whether their marriage fell apart because of Roxanne.
Even now, she still didn’t get why all those years together, all that love, all those times they’d trusted each other with their lives, sticking together through life and death, still couldn’t compare to Roxanne, whom he’d known for less than a year.
The reporter over there was still asking, “Mr. Humphrey, according to what you said, did Stephanie basically leave with nothing?”
This topic was really sensitive.

When everyone was watching, Maxwell lowered his eyes a little
“Everything would be announced after the lawsuit was over,” Maxwell said.
The reporter wanted to ask more, but Maxwell already said, That’s it for today’s press conference.
