Chapter223
“Maxwell!”
“Steph!”
Two voices came.
McKayla and Wesley realized what was happening and quickly rushed
over to them.
Maxwell’s left cheek was already swelling up fast. He pressed his lips together and looked at her, his eyes dark and dangerous.
“Maxwell, I’m warning you, if you try to touch me again, I’ll call the police!” Stephanie said coldly.
There was nothing but determination in her voice, not leaving any room at all.
The noise here caught the attention of Logan and the others in the private room.
Logan came out with those cute guys who just danced the otaku dance with him.
“What’s wrong?” They were still confused, looking at this one and then at that one.
Maxwell glanced gloomily at those good–looking guys.
“Who are they?” Maxwell forced the words out through his teeth.
“Can’t you tell? The guy we hung out with.” McKayla spoke up right away, not giving Maxwell any face at all.

Maxwell’s face went dark, and he was just about to say something.
Over there, Jeremiah hurried over with two bottles of beer.
He got mad and kicked Maxwell.
“Jeremiah!” Wesley got annoyed and was about to rush over.
Patrick just came back from the bathroom and saw what was happening, so he rushed over to pull people apart.
The scene was a mess.
until-
“Bang!”
A loud bang came, and everyone finally stopped.
Everyone looked toward the direction of the sound.
It was Stephanie who grabbed the beer from Jeremiah and smashed it hard on the ground.
There were beer bubbles all over the ground.
“Enough,” she said, then turned to look at McKayla and said gently, “Kayla, let’s go back to the room.
As she spoke, she grabbed McKayla’s hand and was about to head into the private room.
Wesley wanted to say something, but McKayla cut in and mocked, “That’s really something new, meddling in your ex–wife’s business after the divorce. I’ve never seen anyone so shameless!”
“You!”

“What? If you couldn’t stand it, you shouldn’t have messed around in the first place!”
McKayla was really good at snapping at people: “You’re the one in the wrong. Maxwell. Stop acting like a victim, it’s disgusting.“.
Logan already called those good–looking guys into the private room, Jeremiah tipped the cleaner to come tidy up, then he and Patrick walked McKayla and Stephanie into the room together.
“Bang!”
Several people slammed the private room door shut right in front of Maxwell.
Wesley tried to pull the door, but he just couldn’t open it.
Maxwell looked pale. His fists were clenched tight, and there was a fresh bite mark from Stephanie on the back of his right hand. Under the dim light, blood was slowly oozing out.
The music and dancing had already started again in the private room, and Maxwell was still standing here.
His eyes were bloodshot, and he stared hard at the tightly closed private room door.
The cleaner, who just got a tip and was really happy, had just finished sweeping up the broken pieces and was now mopping the floor.
“Excuse me, lift your foot a bit,” the cleaner said.
“My private room was right next door.” Wesley looked at Maxwell angrily and said, “I don’t think they’ll come out anytime soon, let’s wait
next door.”
Maxwell finally looked away and walked into the next room with

Wesley.
After they left, the cleaner hummed a song while mopping the floor clean, patted the tip in their pocket, and left happily.
In Stephanie’s room, McKayla was still cursing.
She took out her phone and saw it, then brought up the gossip about Maxwell and Roxanne having a candlelight dinner together before.
McKayla pointed and said, “I really didn’t get it. Maxwell was honestly just asking for it. Did he actually want to wait until Roxanne died and then go after Steph? He just wanted everything. Disgusting!”
The people nearby also made about to throw up faces and stood up for Stephanie.
Stephanie felt warm inside about this.
Even though she’d been hurt by love before, she still had a lot of good friends.
That was enough.
“Don’t mind them, we’re here to celebrate tonight, be happy, don’t let them ruin the mood,” Stephanie said, raising her glass.
The handsome guys started to liven things up, and the whole private room was really lively.
But some people were happy, some were sad.
Stephanie’s room was lively, and in Maxwell’s room, Maxwell kept drinking one glass after another.
He didn’t just drink, he chugged.

Wesley shook his head helplessly.
“Bro, take it easy,” Wesley said, taking the drink away.
Maxwell looked at his empty drink, frowned, and tried to reach for it, but Wesley took it away.
Wesley felt a headache.
