But as soon as he sat down at the table, he saw that what was served was tomato and sausage risolto.
Maxwell raised one eyebrow and looked at Edgar in front of him.
Edgar scratched his head awkwardly and said, “Mr. Humphrey. I didn’t find you a good restaurant the night before last. Today I remembered my mom’s tomato and sausage risotto is amazing, so I brought some for you without asking.”
Maxwell didn’t say much either, just said “yeah.”
After a while, there was a knock at the door.
Maxwell looked up a little and saw Roxanne standing at the door.
Roxanne walked in, saw Maxwell’s lunch on the table, and she was a little surprised.
“What’s wrong. Ms. Gregg?” Edgar asked.
Roxanne smiled at Edgar and said, “I brought a duplicate for Max, and I also brought this.”
As she spoke, Roxanne took
out the tomato and sausage risotto from the lunchbox and said. “Didn’t you say yesterday that Max tried all the restaurants in Haraville but couldn’t find anything he liked? So I made one myself. Max, try it and see if you like it.”
Edgar didn’t say anything, just gave Maxwell a look.
Maxwell didn’t look at him, just calmly took the box from Roxanne’s
hand, put it on the table, and then tasted the beef brisket.
“How is it, Max, does it taste good?” Roxanne smiled at him, waiting for his answer.
Maxwell chewed carefully.
From the cooking skills, it was pretty average.
But it wasn’t as tasty as what Stephanie made.
But when Roxanne asked, he still replied, “Yeah.”
Roxanne was happy and told him to eat more.
Maxwell felt a bit annoyed, so he sent Roxanne outside to get something.
During this break, the third lunch was delivered.
It was sent over from the old house.
Maxwell opened the box right away, and it was the same–tomato and sausage risotto.
There was just one more letter on top.
Maxwell opened the envelope and saw his grandpa’s strong, powerful handwriting-
“Tomato and sausage risotto, Maxwell, you missed Steph, right? Take her home, okay? Is there anything you guys couldn’t just talk out? You’re all family.”
Maxwell looked at the letter in his hand, and his heart felt a little sour.
But grandpa, our divoree cooling–off period ended today.
Chapter193
Three meals.
In the end. Maxwell just took a small bite and didn’t keep going.
He looked at the view outside the window. The carly May sky, the heat started to rise slowly.
He looked for a long, long time.
He felt it was so empty around him right now.
It seemed like there was supposed to be someone else with him.
Grandpa’s letter was locked in the drawer, and he didn’t know how he felt.
“Max.” Roxanne packed up her lunchbox and walked over.
Maxwell glanced at her and signaled her to speak.
“Max, could you… lend me some money?” Roxanne looked pretty embarrassed, “The studio was having some cash flow problems, I’ll pay you back soon.”
“How much?” Maxwell asked.,
“Five million,” Roxanne said, her voice even lower.
Maxwell took out his phone.
“Buzz.”
Roxanne’s phone buzzed once, then she smiled and said, “Thank you, Max!”
Maxwell didn’t really have any thoughts, his mind
ved calm.
It’s just that after he watched Roxanne leave happily, he suddenly said
to Edgar. “Cancel my plans for the afternoon and evening.“.
Edgar nodded to show he knew.
“Tomorrow, cancel it too.” Maxwell paused for a moment, then went
Edgar was a bit stunned, so they were planning to get the divorce certificate tomorrow right after the cooling–off period ended.
He gave Maxwell a deep look, but in the end he didn’t do anything. just said. “Okay.”
After Maxwell finished explaining, he took his car keys and coat and left.
“Mr. Humphrey, where did you go?” Edgar asked right away.
But Maxwell just waved his hand.
Edgar got it, so there was no need to go to him anymore.
Maxwell drove around the city alone in his Maybach.
He didn’t know where he was going. He felt like a cloud floating in the air, with nowhere to land.
The car kept going, and finally, it stopped in a neighborhood full of villas.
The Elliot family used to live here.
And not far away on the other side, it was Maxwell’s childhood home.
Maxwell opened the car door and walked toward the house, step by step.
Many years passed, and this little house already got old.
Chapter193
With a burst of laughter and cheerful voices. Maxwell saw that this little villa already had a new owner.
After Elliot died back then, they had to settle things, so they sold this little house.
Maxwell just stood here, watching the happy family of three inside. He seemed to see that summer again, the way Stephanie’s family of three looked.
