Chapter 156
Wesley saw Maxwell struggling and just said, “I think they’re pretty happy about it.”
But Maxwell just shook his head.
Not the same.
He wasn’t sure exactly how it was different.
He only wanted a kid with Stephanie. If it was someone else’s, he wasn’t happy.
Even though that little girl called Belinda wasn’t his and Stephanie’s biological child, he somehow accepted her in his heart.
This was a really amazing feeling.
The moment Belinda’s little hand patted the back of his hand, he seemed to be sure.
It was like fate.
He didn’t know why, but what flashed through Maxwell’s mind was that deep blue Tanzanite he had hidden in the safe.
It was a really amazing coincidence.
He really shouldn’t have argued with Stephanie in front of Belinda today.
Maxwell thought.
“Alright, stop overthinking.” Wesley raised his glass and clinked it

with Maxwell’s.
“It didn’t help for you to think more now, Roxanne’s issue wasn’t settled yet.”
Wesley said, “It’s good that you’re keeping your distance from Stephanie and that kid now, or what about Roxanne?”
“Maxwell, there’s less than half a year left, take it easy,” Wesley reminded.
Thinking about this, Maxwell’s head started to hurt again.
In the end, he just nodded.
Yeah, we should’ve dealt with Roxanne’s thing first.
Roxanne didn’t have much time left.
He believed that after things were over, he would explain everything to Stephanie.
She would understand him.
Time flew by. On the other side, Roxanne didn’t know what had happened that day. She was totally focused on things with Serena.
But a day went by, the whole thing with Stephanie and Jeremiah had already blown up, and Serena still didn’t reach out to her.
Didn’t see it, or just too shy to look down?
Thinking about it, Roxanne sent a message to Serena’s number.
On the other side, Stephanie, who just dropped Belinda off and was driving home alone, felt her phone vibrate.
The light was red ahead, so Stephanie stopped and glanced at her

phone.

It was news from the Serena.
Roxanne sent it over.
“Did you see the news online? This proves what I told you before was true. This was the last chance I gave you. If you worked with me, I would have had your back till the end.”
Some of the streetlights on one side were broken.
It made a sizzling electric sound, flickering on and off.
Stephanie didn’t respond to Roxanne’s message.
Turned to look at another one in the message list.
That was Estrella’s message.
Sent a few days ago.
Originally, Stephanie was thinking about finding a reason to turn down Estrella’s wine tasting event.
She had a strong feeling that it wasn’t a good party.
But just as she was thinking of a reason, Estrella texted her.
“You have to come to the wine tasting, Stephanie. If I were you, I wouldn’t miss it. Don’t forget what I learned at Groena. The Shelton family’s old business is still at the Humphrey Group, you know what I mean.”
“Sizzle…”
The streetlights were still flickering.

It was kind of dim and bright inside the car, too.
The red light ahead turned green, Stephanie looked away, started the car, and drove off smoothly.
She understood, she couldn’t get out of this wine tasting.
Even if it was a trap, I had to go.
At least at the wine tasting, she could handle things as they came.
And…
The image of Estrella flashed through Stephanie’s mind.
The past few years with Maxwell, she kind of got to know Estrella.
Estrella was a proud person, but she really had the confidence to back it up.
The two of them used to mind their own business, and I didn’t know what had happened to Estrella in Groena all these years.
If it was about her, it was always just those few things.
Stephanie was a bit tired.
And… she also needed to deal with this Maxwell trouble.
It was windy again in Haraville late at night.
The pitch–black night, the crisscrossing traffic, and the scattered lights of the world.
It seemed like everything was wrapped up and stirred by something hidden underneath.
The clouds on the horizon moved quickly, like something was about to

happen.
Time flew by, and another two days passed.
Soon, it was time for the Estrella wine tasting at night.
The wine tasting was held at the fanciest hotel in Haraville, and Estrella booked the whole place for her own homecoming event.
To be honest, this was already considered casual.
Generally speaking, meetings like the Humphrey family level were usually held in some private properties, like villas, manors, yachts, or other secret clubs.
Low–key luxury, but it could still set you apart from regular people.
Something this high–profile wasn’t their style.
