Chapter 85

No more shelter. No more money…no more comfort. Elodre thought in tears as she walked on the illuminated lonely street in the rain with Raiden crying in her arms. She's tried her best but can't shield her son from the rain. She was so frail and vulnerable, she couldn't protect her son.

Water was dripping randomly from her wet hair and nightgown. "Oh, my son…I'm so s…sorry" She was broken. "I'm so sorry…" The kid doesn't deserve this. She wept. Everyone has rejected them. "I'm sorry…"

Cayden had punched her hard on her eye and it was still bleeding. It was hurting excruciatingly and was blurred by tears and the rain flowing from her hair down to her face.

Overwhelmed by the shock of her situation she fell to her knees and cried bitterly on the damp ground. It was midnight and everyone had retired to bed. Water was flooding into the drainage. There was no shade anywhere for shelter.

Samantha was in her room sitting stiff on the bed. Her eyes were wide as she was staring bewilderedly into space. She couldn't help the shock. Yes, her mission has been accomplished yet she can't articulate why she's frightened. She can't even face her brother. She didn't even want to see his face. It was too spooky to behold at the moment.

Sitting in the dining room with a bottle of whiskey on the table, Cayden's elbows were placed on the table as he cupped his face in his palms, huffing in rage. He'd ordered his guys to take Roberts away so that he could deal with him later on. His head was aching excruciatingly. Raising his head, tears spilled down his hard cheeks.

His eyes were grim and bloodshot. Furiously grabbing the bottle, he gulped down the whiskey and let out a groan. Fuck!! He was cursing savagely under his breath.

Still sobbing, Elodre had started walking, searching for shelter. She could have hung around and gone back home the following morning but Cayden had warned his guys never to let her in and no soul would risk his life for her sake. Cayden would surely kill such a person. Plus, she has to leave because she's become so popular and doesn't want people to bother her with questions.

Now where should she go? She wondered, all frail and exhausted. In tears, she gazed down at her four-year-old who was trembling terribly in her arms.

Damnit!!! Cayden crashed the bottle of whiskey on the floor and restlessly disheveled his hair with his fingers. As he sprung to his feet, he lifted the heavy dining table and furiously flung it away. He slammed his fist against one of the chairs several times and it broke.

Running up the stairs, he went straight to Samantha's room and banged on the door.

Hearing that, Samantha's eyes widened in alarm as she sat up on the bed. Her heart began to thump in her chest as goosebumps formed on her white skin.

She grasped the doorknob with her trembling hands. Once she opened the door, Cayden pushed it wide and stormed into the room, grabbing her arm violently. He dragged her toward the bed, not caring about her injury. "B…brother…"

"How did you get that picture, Samantha?!" He asked between gritted teeth. "You better don't strain my patient else I'm gonna rip off your fuckin intestines!!!"

Samantha shuddered below her angry brother. "I…I…" She railed off as she was engulfed in fear. Her body stiffened and her stomach was hurting.

"You what?!" He slapped her and she wailed in pain. "You what, Samantha??! Answer me!!" He thundered. "Where the fuck did you get that damn picture from, huh??!!"

"At…at a coffee sh…shop…" She quivered.

He huffed, glaring down at her. "Who gave it to you?!"

"N…nobody…" she stuttered.

"So you took the picture yourself?! Is that what you mean?!"

Her lips were too heavy to utter a word.

He slapped her again. "Do not fuckin keep silent on me when I'm asking a fuckin question!!!"

"I…I… s…saw her at the coffee shop w…with another man so I snapped it…"

"Good job!" He snapped. "Now pack up your stuff and leave my house!!"

Samantha gasped.

"I don't wanna set my eyes on you when I return!!"

Shoving her away, she fell hard on the bed and felt a sharp pain in her stomach. Mourning, her hands flew to the injury on her stomach.

Weston has destroyed almost everything in his home, including his electronics. He was so restless. Exhausted, he plumped on the bed and blew out heavily. His room was littered with broken objects and devices.

This is unbelievable!! He can't believe he's lost Jigyasa!! His red eyes were blazing bewilderedly. No! No! No! Fuckin no!!! He can't lose her. He sprung from the bed, opened his drawer, and picked up one of his car keys. He was gonna drive himself.

*

The car's pace was high as Weston drove furiously on the illuminated road. Arriving at Jigyasa's apartment, his heart seemed to rip apart. He gazed fiercely at her door for a while before getting out of his car.

It was still raining heavily and thunder was rumbling. Regardless, he hurried to her door and knocked mildly as excitement twitched all over him. "Diamond?"

He listened for a while but there was no response. "Oh, God! Diamond…are you in there?" He leaned his forehead against the door. "Please come out…please. I'm sorry…w…we have to talk about this…"

Elodre had walked a very far distance yet couldn't find shelter. She glanced around wearily. She was catching a cold and goosebumps had formed on her skin. She and Raiden were shivering terribly. Tears were rolling freely down her flushed cheeks. This is unbelievable. She thought, sniffling and coughing violently.

Walking across the road, a few cars honked past her blazing their headlights. Soon, an oncoming jeep honked past her but slowed down and reversed back.

The sound of a horn attracted her attention and she turned back, wiping her face with her palm. The glasses were tinted and she couldn't see who was inside.

Soon, the glass slid down slowly.
