Sierra pov.
Alex's attitude had changed drastically over the past three days. She mostly kept to herself and barely spoke to Nora and me. Sometimes she would show up at the castle whenever she pleased. I couldn't help but feel disturbed by all that was going on. I tried to talk to Williams about it, but he simply told me to stay calm and relax.
As I sat on my bed in my room, I gazed out the window, feeling worried. I noticed the trees swaying in the wind and the sun setting on the horizon. I couldn't understand why Alex was acting this way, especially since we had just discussed Nora going to the Shadowclaws pack for the Alpha son ball. Was she upset that Nora might find her mate before her?
Anger boiled within me as I thought about the way Alex was treating me. She didn't show me any respect, not even as a Luna or a friend. I stood up, still in confusion, and began pacing around my room. But then I had a thought: maybe Alex and Henry were destined to be mates since they seemed to be getting along so well.
I walked out of my room and headed over to where Henry usually stayed. As I approached, I could see him tending to his plants, humming to himself. The smell of fresh soil and flowers filled the air. When he noticed me, he smiled and stopped what he was doing to greet me.
"Luna Sierra, it's an honor for you to come see me. What can I do for you?" he asked.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves, and said, "Henry, have you noticed anything strange about Alex lately?"
As I spoke, I felt a chill run down my spine, like a gust of wind blowing through the castle walls.
Observing how he behaved with such respect and humility, I began to understand why William had chosen him to be his beta. With a slight grin, I turned my gaze towards him, trying to hold back the laughter that threatened to escape me.
"Why do you keep doing that?" I inquired, keeping my eyes fixed on him. "I have already told you to call me Sierra and to stop bowing down to me. After all, we are friends, aren't we?"
He smiled and nodded, responding, "Okay, Sierra. What would you like me to do?"
With a smile, I beckoned him to follow me, and we made our way to a bench by the poolside. I sat down and waited for him to take a seat beside me.
"Henry," I called out his name as he looked up at me. "Do you love Alex?" I asked, noting the confusion etched on his face.
"I know you and Alex have been seeing each other lately, for the past three months now. But for the last three days, she has been acting different. I wanted to know if maybe you two had a fight or something?"
As I looked at Henry, he still seemed bewildered, and I could tell by the way he stared at me that he was searching for the right words to say.
"Alex?" he asked, his tone more like a question. "Who is she?"
I looked confused just hearing him ask me that. I felt as though that was an answer, or more like a joke. I chuckled out loud before starting to laugh and hitting him on the shoulder.
"Come on, Herny. It doesn't mean because the both of you had a fight and now you act as if you don't know her. Listen, Alex is a nice girl, and I think she likes you. Why don't you both just sort things out? Maybe talk to her or take her somewhere nice. I think she will like that."
After saying that, he still looked confused and then asked, "Is Alex one of your two friends?" He asked again, and this time I was the one confused.
"Don't you know who I'm talking about?" I asked him, trying to figure out what was really going on.
"Well, to tell you the truth, Sierra, I have never spoken to any of your friends in months. I always focus on my work, and I just want it to be that way."
I still looked at Herny, as I could not understand what was really going on. If he doesn't know Alex, then who was Alex coming to visit while in the castle?
Lost in thought, Herny called my name, and I snapped back to reality, staring at him. The sight of his confused face mixed with the smell of the castle's musty air made me feel like I was in a fog.
"Are you okay, Sierra?" he asked, and I nodded, smiling at him. I felt as if my body was on fire, the confusion in my thoughts making me go crazy. I tried to think of something else, but the more I did, the more my mind kept going back to what my mind was telling me.
The scent of fresh flowers filled my nose, and the sound of birds chirping echoed throughout the courtyard.
I felt a gentle breeze on my skin and closed my eyes, trying to calm my racing heart. Suddenly, a thought popped into my head.
"Had any of my friends ever talked to any of the servants in the castle?" I asked again, hoping that maybe I had mistaken Henry for someone else.
"Actually, Sierra, none of your friends have ever spoken to any of the servants. But if I may ask, why do you ask?" Henry replied, his eyes searching mine.
I leaned back against the bench, trying to relax and calm myself down. "But there's always one of your friends who comes to the castle whenever you're in school," he said.
Just hearing him say that made me sit up straight and look at him. "Really? Who did she always come to visit, and why?" I asked eagerly, hoping to find a clue to my confusion.
As I waited for him to speak, my heart raced with anticipation. I needed to know why Alex had been lying to me all this time, and who was the person she had been coming to see. Finally, he spoke.
"Sierra, I wanted to tell you, but I just didn't want to see you unhappy. Are you sure you want to know?"
I nodded my head vigorously, not even waiting for him to finish his sentence.
"Well, Sierra, if you want to know, then I will tell you. The person who your friend has been visiting is the Alpha... your husband."
At that moment, the world seemed to stand still. My mind struggled to comprehend the gravity of what he had just said. The Alpha? My husband? I sat there, frozen and unsure of what to think.
The weight of his words hung heavy in the air, like a storm cloud threatening to break. It felt as though I had been punched in the gut, the wind knocked out of me. My whole body felt numb, like I was detached from reality.
It was as though a veil had been lifted, and I could see the world around me with newfound clarity.
