Chapter 95 You Are Doomed
"That's what you deserve, lady." Cleo's little face was still smiling sweetly, looking innocent and harmless.
That smile only annoyed Mia more. Mia reached out and pulled Cleo in front of her, threatening, "Little kid, you'll regret making me angry."
Mia's fierce tone was meant to scare Cleo.
But Cleo had never been easily frightened. "I don't know if you'll give me a hard time, lady, but you're definitely going to have a bad ending."
Hearing this, Mia got even angrier. It was bad enough being outshone by Ava, but now a little kid dared to threaten her? She'd show her.
Mia raised her hand and pinched Cleo's arm hard. "Say that again if you dare."
Cleo's eyes turned red.
"I'm warning you, don't cry. If you dare cry, I'll strangle you..." Mia threatened through gritted teeth.
Without hesitation, Cleo opened her mouth wide and burst into loud tears, with tears instantly streaming down her face.
"Don't cry, you hear me?" Mia said viciously.
Children's cries are naturally loud. Seeing such a cute little kid crying like this, adults nearby immediately looked over.
The crying was fake, but the pain from Mia's pinch was real.
Cleo lifted her other little hand and pulled up her sleeve, covering her little arm, which was clearly red from where Mia had pinched her.
People who had already noticed them saw Cleo crying non-stop and pitifully holding her arm, so they gathered around with concern.
"What's wrong, sweetie? Why are you crying?"
"It's nothing, nothing, just a kid throwing a tantrum." Mia quickly pulled Cleo back to her side and explained, then gently coaxed, "Don't cry now, you want ice cream, right? I'll take you to get some, okay?"
Hearing Mia say this, the passersby didn't think much of it. After all, it's normal for kids to cry when adults won't buy them things.
The few people who had come over with concern were about to leave when Cleo cried even louder, as if begging them not to go, that she was scared.
"I don't know her, I really don't know her. It hurts, it hurts so much... I want my mommy..."
Hearing this, the people frowned, glanced at Mia's grim face, and crouched down in front of Cleo again, asking with concern, "You don't know her?"
"I don't..."
"The kid's talking nonsense. I'm her aunt. This kid refuses to recognize people when she's upset. She's been spoiled at home. Sorry about this." Mia nervously kept Cleo away from contact with others.
"That's not true... I don't know you. You tried to drag me away, and when I didn't agree, you threatened me, said I'd regret not going with you. She pinched me too, it hurts so much..." Cleo held out her reddened arm. The little arm was red over a large area, looking heartbreaking.
The people immediately protected Cleo behind them and glared angrily at Mia. "You say you're her aunt, then tell us—what's her name, how old is she, what are her family members' names?"
"I..." Mia froze, unable to say anything.
The people glared at Mia even more angrily, convinced of their suspicion. "You can't say anything, which proves you're lying."
"I'm not." Mia was somewhat embarrassed and angry. "This kid is lying. You've all been fooled by her. She's good at playing pitiful to get sympathy. She's using your sympathy to frame me."
"Such a small child—what bad intentions could she have? But you've been threatening and hitting her. Call the police. People like this should be locked up."
"That's right, call the police."
Mia's explanation only made everyone angrier.
Mia was completely enraged. "You did this on purpose! You're lying to them! You explain to them clearly—you did this deliberately, you're framing me on purpose. Now you're doing it again. Explain to them, explain! Don't cry, I said don't cry!" Mia shouted irritably, trying to intimidate Cleo.
This played right into Cleo's plan.
"Film her, people like this should be exposed."
"Exactly, this is too much. What kind of person is this? So vicious."
"Listen to me, this kid is a liar. She's deliberately trying to hurt me. She did this before too. She's doing it on purpose. Don't believe her..." Mia anxiously tried to explain to the people around her.
But... no one was listening. Instead, everyone became even more furious. "What's wrong with you? Do you have violent tendencies or something?"
A child this small easily triggers people's sympathy. Several women held Cleo in their arms, gently comforting her. "Don't be scared, sweetie, don't be scared. We're here. This woman can't hurt you."
Mia ground her teeth hard, her face looking extremely unpleasant from anger.
"Don't you have a heart? How could such a small child have the cunning to frame you? It's clearly your own fault, but you're blaming a little kid. That's enough. I've never seen someone so shameless."
"I didn't..."
Mia kept trying to explain.
"That's so cruel." Someone in the crowd exclaimed in shock, showing their phone to others nearby. "Look at this."
"That's terrifying. Who is this woman? Can you see her face?"
Several people covered their mouths in surprise. "I don't know, but this woman is so cruel. She pulled someone down the stairs when they weren't paying attention. She was clearly trying to kill them."
