Chapter 78: Does She Want to Kill Victor?
"Mia, don't listen to their nonsense. What do they know? Ava just got lucky with those few surgeries. How could her skills possibly compare to yours?" Lyra said flatteringly from the side.
Mia was truly angry and snorted coldly, "Stop mentioning that bitch to me."
Lyra choked on her words, standing behind Mia and rolling her eyes with extreme disgust when Mia couldn't see.
What the hell, I'm trying to comfort you and you don't even appreciate it. So annoying.
"Yes, yes, yes, Mia don't be angry. We won't mention that bitch anymore. It's not good for your health to get so upset. That bitch won't be able to act so cocky for much longer anyway." As soon as Lyra spoke, her face was full of flattery, speaking to Mia in a pleasant tone.
Mia's vicious gaze followed Ava until the elevator doors closed, her hands hanging at her sides clenching repeatedly.
"You're right, that bitch won't be cocky for much longer."
Once this month is over, she'll have to roll out of the hospital obediently. She really hates her to death.
"Ava!" Mia said through gritted teeth, "Go see where she's going, what she's doing, and tell me every single detail."
"Mia, this..." What could Ava possibly do in the hospital? Lyra was speechless.
Being used as Mia's pawn every day, she naturally didn't want to, but her family still relied on the Wilson family's support. Even though she was extremely unwilling, she had to do it. She noted which floor Ava's elevator went to and immediately followed.
The test results wouldn't be ready until tomorrow, so Ava went home first.
"Component testing? Did you see clearly what it was?"
"It was a small vial of medicinal soup."
She had just left Victor's place last night, and today she was already having medicine tested for its components. Clearly this wasn't a coincidence.
Mia's brow furrowed tightly as she sat down on the sofa. In such a short time, the only medicine she had contact with was the medicine Victor was drinking.
Mia bit her teeth hard. Could it be that she was investigating the medicine she prescribed for Victor?
Mia narrowed her eyes and immediately said, "Go keep watch. As soon as there are results, tell me immediately."
Lyra pressed her lips together dismissively. "Mia, why are you so nervous? It's just testing the components of medicine. It's perfectly normal. Is it really necessary?"
Using her as a workhorse again. Lyra was speechless. Her own department was already busy, and she kept calling her to do this and that every day. So much work was piling up in her department, she didn't even know how many times she'd been scolded.
"What do you know? Just go when I tell you to go. Why are you asking so many questions?" Mia yelled at her.
Because of what happened last night, Mia was in a terrible mood, full of anger with nowhere to vent it. Whoever crossed her path became her target, completely disregarding others' feelings.
Lyra shrank her neck, glaring angrily, though of course she only dared to do this when Mia couldn't see her.
When Ava got home, the two children had woken up and were sitting at the dining table by themselves, eating the breakfast Sabrina had prepared for them.
"Mommy, you're back!" Finn and Cleo called out happily to Ava.
Ava smiled and sat down next to Finn and Cleo. "I'm not working today, so I can stay home and spend time with you."
"Can we go out and play? We haven't gone out together in so long."
Ava's clear eyes dimmed slightly. She had been too busy these past days and had neglected the two children, but they never said anything and never caused her any trouble. They were so well-behaved it made Ava's heart ache.
Ava lowered her head and kissed both children. "Of course, wherever you want to go, I'll go with you."
"And this is what Joshua brought back." Ava handed the mechanical dog Buddy to Finn.
Finn's eyes lit up with surprise, unable to hide his happiness.
Ava spent the whole day playing around with the two children. By evening, both children were exhausted and went to bed early.
The next day, Ava came early specifically to get the component report. Looking at the medicine components listed, Ava couldn't help but frown, her clear beautiful eyes growing increasingly cold.
Although these medicines could to some extent promote blood circulation, relieve pain, improve qi flow, and ease heart pain symptoms, the dosage of the medicine components was too high. Victor's body was too weak and simply couldn't handle such a strong dosage. It might be effective in the short term, but long-term use would definitely backfire.
As a doctor, there was no way Mia didn't understand this principle, yet she still prescribed such a high dosage for Victor. Was she trying to kill Victor?
Ava's anger rose from within, and she clutched the component report tightly in her hand.
At that moment, Lyra handed Mia the component test report that Ava had obtained.
Mia hurriedly took it. She could tell at a glance it was the medicine she had prescribed.
Ava was investigating her medicine. Did she suspect there was a problem with her medicine and that it was harming Victor?
Mia bit her teeth hard, trembling violently as she held the medicine report, a bad feeling rising within her.
Damn it!
"Mia, where are you going?" Lyra watched as Mia grabbed her bag and rushed out.
Ava went home to get her medicine box and then headed to the Thomas Villa.
Ava had just reached the second-floor stairway when a voice suddenly exploded behind her.
"Ava, what do you think you're doing?" Mia demanded angrily, "What right do you have to investigate the medicine I prescribed for Grandpa?"
Ava wasn't at all surprised that Mia knew about this. She had noticed Lyra following her around the hospital.
"You know perfectly well why, so why ask me?" Ava's expression was dark, her voice cold. "What, are you scared now?"
