Chapter 35 Joshua Fears Missing Ava
So he zoned out?
Joshua had never zoned out during a meeting before!
"Mr. Thomas? Mr. Thomas!" Samuel carefully reminded him.
Joshua looked down and flipped through the documents in front of him, suddenly frowning. He found them annoying to read - he couldn't focus on any of this stuff today.
The head of the administrative department was so scared he almost dropped to his knees on the spot.
With that expression on Joshua's face, could there be some major problem?
Oh no, oh no.
The head of the administrative department was already preparing his last words.
After a long moment, Joshua suddenly stood up.
"..."
"Take a ten-minute break."
With that, Joshua's slender fingers lifted and waved at Samuel. He walked out of the conference room, and Samuel had to steel himself and hurry after him, leaving behind a group of people exchanging confused looks.
What major issue had come up to suddenly interrupt the meeting?
In the CEO's office, Joshua's tall and distinguished figure stood before the large floor-to-ceiling window.
The powerful presence he brought with him made Samuel even more anxious.
Had something really serious happened?
Joshua turned around and glanced coolly at Samuel. Just when Samuel thought Joshua was about to assign him some major task, Joshua asked in a low voice, "If... someone made a really big mistake, how should they handle it?"
Had he heard that wrong!
What kind of question was Joshua asking? Samuel's mouth twitched. After recovering, he immediately said, "Naturally, apologize first."
"That won't work." What he did to Ava back then - an apology couldn't possibly work. "She's still misunderstanding me."
"She?" Samuel frantically searched his mind for who this "she" could be. Considering everything, if there was someone Joshua had wronged badly, it could only be Ava.
"...Ms. Davis?"
Samuel asked tentatively.
Joshua wearily rubbed his brow. "Yes."
Samuel thought for a moment and said, "Since there's a misunderstanding, naturally you should explain things clearly?"
"Explain? I should explain to Ava? Will she listen?" Whenever he brought up the child, she acted like it was the end of the world, like she wanted to kill him to protect her and the child's peace.
"This... Mr. Thomas, have you tried explaining?"
Joshua glanced at him coolly, and Samuel immediately lowered his head nervously.
He shouldn't have asked. How could he question Joshua? If Joshua said this, he must have already tried explaining, and Ava wouldn't listen, so Joshua was at a loss. How could he question Joshua? He really deserved to die.
"No!"
What?
"..."
"Where is she now?"
Samuel was quick-witted. He raised his hand to look at his watch and immediately said, "At this time, Ms. Davis should be at work at the hospital."
Joshua's gloomy expression eased a bit. "Let's continue the meeting."
"Yes."
The luxurious Rolls-Royce pulled smoothly into the parking lot ahead of schedule.
Joshua got out of the car, pulled a cigarette from his pack and put it in his mouth. With one hand in his suit pants pocket, standing tall and leaning slightly against the car, his cool gaze fell on the white car nearby.
This was Ava's car. He had come half an hour before Ava got off work, afraid of missing her.
Though Joshua had a cigarette in his mouth, he was mentally organizing what to say to Ava.
Standing beside him, Samuel's mouth twitched slightly. He sneaked glances at Joshua's deeply thoughtful expression, like he was making a decision about a multi-billion dollar project, even showing some hesitation and anxiety. What was going on?
No, that was wrong.
When Joshua made any business decision, he was always full of confident certainty, never hesitant like this.
Samuel couldn't help but think to himself.
Joshua clearly cared a lot about Ava. If he didn't care, why would he zone out during the meeting, and specifically interrupt it to ask him those questions?
If he didn't care, why would Joshua leave a whole conference room full of people and come early to wait, afraid of missing her?
Ava left work on time today. The past few times she had asked Isabella to pick up Finn and Cleo, but this time she had promised the two children she would definitely go herself.
Ava gathered her things. When the elevator arrived, Ava got in, followed closely by Mia and Lyra.
Clearly, because of the morning meeting, Mia and Lyra's faces were so sour they couldn't even pretend anymore. They wore dark expressions, their eyes looking like they wanted to tear her apart.
But as long as they didn't provoke her, she naturally wouldn't bother with them. Ava simply ignored the two malicious stares behind her.
"Ava, you must be really happy right now." Mia crossed her arms, glaring viciously at Ava.
Ava played with her phone as if no one else was there. "How so?"
Her raised voice carried undisguised amusement.
"Watching us make fools of ourselves? I won't deny I'm pretty happy about it." Ava raised her delicate eyebrows slightly and smiled. "But I have to say, I really admire how confident you two are."
