Chapter 31 People Like This Should Be Expelled from the Hospital
If Thora had really brought up divorce in public back then, the image of being unreasonable and aggressive would have stuck to her forever.
And he would definitely have played the part of being tolerant and caring toward her, reluctantly agreeing to the divorce in the end. How innocent he would have seemed!
What a good man, really.
If Ava didn't know the whole story, she would have given him a thumbs up and praised him.
Ava sneered inwardly, couldn't help but admire Mia a bit. She was so good at playing soft and pitiful, winning sympathy, stirring up trouble and winning people over. On one hand, she was desperate to marry Joshua, while on the other hand, she was keeping her options open at the hospital, using every available resource to climb higher.
From what Ava knew, Thora's parents were also famous doctors. Thora's father was the deputy director of the hospital. Their family had been in medicine for generations and was highly respected. Dean had been supported by Thora's family all along.
For Dean to risk offending the White family and still want to divorce Thora, it was nothing more than Mia's manipulation, dropping hints here and there, making Dean think she liked him. Then came her usual trick with men - neither accepting nor rejecting.
Mia had always enjoyed the thrill of being pursued because of that face of hers, and stealing what belonged to others.
Ava's words made Thora think deeply. Soon she had a sudden realization, staring at Ava with wide eyes filled with shock, admiration, and gratitude. "Dr. Davis, if you hadn't stopped me, I would have fallen right into his trap."
A flash of deep disappointment crossed Thora's eyes, mixed with anger. "How did the man I spent day and night with back then turn into this? Has he forgotten who helped him get his deputy director position?"
"Talking more won't help. I want a divorce." Thora's eyes were full of determination. Even though she had loved this husband deeply, she now wanted nothing to do with him.
Disgusting, so disgusting.
Ava raised her eyebrows. "You should divorce him, but not now."
Thora looked at Ava's clear eyes full of wisdom, admiring her even more, but asked in confusion, "Then when? Right now I can't wait to cut all ties with him."
Ava couldn't help but sigh at Thora's innocent straightforwardness. "Wait until he can't hide it anymore. If you bring up divorce now, he'll turn around and play the victim again, the good guy. Are you happy to let him get away with it?"
"Of course not. Dr. Davis, you're so smart. I feel like you're God sent to save me." As she spoke, Thora's round face broke into a gentle smile, looking quite cute.
Ava smiled. "I can only help you. The only one who can save you is yourself. Do you remember what I told you that night?"
"Yes, I remember. I'm practicing every day now. I'll get back everything I lost, and I definitely won't let you down."
Ava nodded with a smile.
"Dr. Davis, the director wants to see you in his office."
Ava nodded. "I'll go right away."
"You go ahead, don't worry about me. I definitely won't fall into their trap again."
"Good." Hopefully so.
......
"Dr. Palmer, don't be angry. That Ava just loves to meddle in other people's business. She and Thora often bully Mia together. Mia is beautiful and kind-hearted and never holds it against her, which only makes her worse." Lyra said weakly, frowning and sighing, looking fragile and helpless.
"What? She bullies Mia too?" Dean frowned tightly, looking at Mia anxiously.
Mia lowered her eyes, looking wronged and helpless. She raised her eyes with a look of patience and shook her head at Dean. "I'm fine, don't worry. Dr. Davis has some misunderstanding about me. I don't blame her."
Lyra went on and on, pinning a whole bunch of accusations on Ava.
The more Dean listened, the angrier he got, and the more he looked at Mia with heartache. "Mia, you're just too kind. How can you let her bully you like this?"
Hearing this, Mia and Lyra exchanged glances. Lyra continued, "Dr. Palmer, Ava is extremely scheming. She doesn't deserve to stay in our hospital."
Dean said seriously, "That's right. Don't worry, I'll find a chance to report this to Mr. Miller. People like her should be kicked out of the hospital."
Mia sneered inwardly. Keeping him on the hook still had some use after all.
When this matter reached Joseph's ears and Joseph personally kicked Ava out of the hospital, that would be truly satisfying.
Just thinking about it put Mia in a much better mood.
At this moment, Ava arrived at Joseph's office.
Ava knocked gently on the door. "Mr. Miller, you wanted to see me?"
Joseph took off his glasses. Seeing Ava, he smiled warmly. "Ava, come in, have a seat."
Ava sat down on the single sofa nearby. Joseph was making tea, looking pleased. "Come try this tea I just made. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't let anyone else drink it."
Ava took the tea cup and took a small sip, giving him face by praising, "The tea is fragrant, slightly bitter at first, but sweet aftertaste. Good tea, good tea."
Joseph raised his eyebrows proudly and asked with a smile, "How does it compare to your teacher's?"
Ava's eyes filled with a helpless smile. "Mr. Miller, why do you and my teacher compete over everything? If he heard this, he'd definitely want to compete with you again."
"I'm not afraid. He's not here right now anyway."
"But Mr. Miller, you didn't call me here just to taste tea, did you?"
"Smart. Today someone came to our hospital. He's a genius in brain science research, and you know him too. Want to meet him later?"
"What? I know him too?" This piqued Ava's curiosity.
Two knocks on the door.
Ava was drawn by the sound. The door wasn't closed, and a tall figure stood at the entrance.
"He's here." Mr. Miller smiled. "Gilbert Harvey, come in and sit down."
Gilbert wore a light-colored suit, bringing with him a clean, fresh aura.
Their eyes met. Ava's long lashes fluttered.
Gilbert looked at Ava in front of him, her beautiful eyes looking at him with some surprise.
Gilbert smiled faintly, his voice gentle. "Ava, long time no see."
Ava looked at him with pleasant surprise. "Gilbert? When did you come back to the country?"
"A couple days ago. Not long."
"Hahaha, I knew you two must know each other."
Ava was still somewhat surprised. The brain science expert Joseph mentioned was Gilbert, a genius in the medical field, but he had always been developing his career abroad. His sudden return left Ava a bit stunned.
"You two are both medical geniuses. Great! With both of you, our hospital is like a tiger with wings." Joseph couldn't stop smiling, wishing he could open a bottle right there to celebrate with Ava and Gilbert.
"I'm surprised Gilbert came back too." Ava smiled.
Gilbert looked at Ava in front of him, his eyes shining, with a hint of affection. "I'll be working with you from now on, Ava. Please take care of me."
Ava smiled brightly. "Same to you."
Ava returned to the conference room. Thora had saved the seat next to her for Ava. "Dr. Davis, here."
Ava walked over and sat down next to Thora.
Mia glanced at Ava and asked with a pleasant smile, "Dr. Davis, I heard Mr. Miller was looking for you. Was it something important?"
Ava's expression was calm. She looked down at the meeting notes in her hand, her lips pressed together lightly, her voice soft. "Nothing much."
Mia still smiled warmly, her voice gentle as she probed, "Dr. Davis seems quite familiar with Mr. Miller. We've been at the hospital for so long, but we've hardly been to Mr. Miller's office."
