Chapter 27 Mia, Can You Stop Being So Shameless

Chapter 27 Mia, Can You Stop Being So Shameless

Ursa glared at Hayden in annoyance. None of them could give her a moment's peace.

Mia lowered her head and let out a soft sigh, her eyes filled with deep sadness and helplessness. "Mrs. Thomas, please don't blame them. It's me who's not good enough."

As she spoke, tears kept welling up in her eyes, looking heartbroken and sad yet still speaking up for them, which made Ursa feel sorry for her.

Such a good girl, yet they don't know how to cherish her.

"Mia, don't be sad. You know Joshua puts all his energy into work. He's just dense. You're so wonderful - give him some time and he'll see how great you are."

Mia could only bite her lip and nod slightly, her eyes full of sadness.

After a moment of silence, Ursa, seeing the awkward atmosphere, changed the subject. "By the way, Mia, I need to thank you. Thanks to you, Grandpa is doing much better now. This is all your doing. You're a great benefactor to the Thomas family."

The expression on Mia's delicate face gradually returned to normal, and she said softly, "Mrs. Thomas, you're too kind. Saving Grandpa is my duty. I'm happy to be able to help him."

"Good girl." The more Ursa looked at Mia, the more she liked her and found her pleasing to the eye. "Then Mia, I'll have to trouble you to take good care of Grandpa."

"Of course, I'll do everything I can to save Grandpa..."

Hayden slammed his utensils on the table.

Had anyone ever told her that when she put on that earnest, delicate face and seriously told lies, she really looked cheap?

"This is enough."

With that, Hayden suddenly stood up, fists clenched, his face full of anger and exasperation.

Everyone looked at Hayden in confusion. He'd been acting strange throughout dinner, keeping a cold face as if he had a big problem with someone.

Mia was startled by Hayden, shrinking her neck and looking at the furious Hayden with surprise.

And Hayden's cold, angry gaze was glaring right at her.

Mia's heart jumped, not knowing what to do.

"You're really shameless."

Hayden had never seen such a shameless woman. How could she feel comfortable accepting praise that didn't belong to her?

Hayden kicked his chair aside, turned and left in anger.

Mia looked completely confused, watching Hayden leave helplessly. Her hands unconsciously clenched, and she lowered her head deeply, looking pitiful, innocent, and wronged - a perfect performance.

She bit her lip, her face pale, and tears immediately fell. "Did... did I do something wrong?"

Ursa was also confused. What was going on with everyone today? Did they all eat something explosive?

She immediately went to Mia's side, looking slightly embarrassed. "...Well, don't mind those two. I'll have a good talk with them later."

...

Ava finished the last needle for Victor and let out a long breath. After two hours, this treatment was finally complete.

After removing the silver needles, Ava carefully tucked Victor in and wrote out the prescription. She couldn't stay here long. Ava had originally wanted to give this prescription to Hayden and had some instructions to give.

But when Ava opened the double doors of the room and poked her head out to look around, the hallway was empty - no sign of Hayden at all. Ava went back into the room and called Hayden, but no one answered.

Ava paced around the doorway a few times, holding her phone and letting out a frustrated breath. She went back to Victor's bedside and placed the prescription in a visible spot so it wouldn't be overlooked. After doing all this, she picked up her medical kit and prepared to leave.

Hayden had reminded her that Ursa and Xavier were home today. To avoid being discovered, Ava was extra careful, not even daring to make her footsteps too loud.

Ava gently pushed open the double doors and backed out, then turned around and quietly closed them.

The surroundings were so quiet, quiet in a way that made one inexplicably nervous.

Just as Ava was about to leave, she suddenly felt something strange behind her.

Ava swallowed and the moment she slowly turned around, her eyes met Joshua's.

Although she was mentally prepared, she was still startled by the person who suddenly appeared.

Under the cold light, Joshua's handsome face looked even more stern. His tall, strong build carried an imposing presence, and at this moment, Joshua's deep eyes were staring at her, that scrutinizing gaze seeming to penetrate her very soul.

Ava's body tensed up. She couldn't help but lower her head and touch her forehead. Why was Joshua here too? Why didn't Hayden mention this!

What should she do now that she'd been caught red-handed?

"Who told you to come?"

Ava steadied herself, her brow twitching slightly. She really wanted to sell out the unreliable Hayden, but she didn't do that. Taking a deep breath, "I came on my own."

At this moment, Hayden finally remembered Ava who was still treating Victor in his room. He rushed over in a hurry, only to see Joshua and Ava staring at each other.

Oh no!

Hayden hurried over to smooth things over. "Joshua, this..."

"Let go of me." Ava was dragged into the room by Joshua. "Hey, you..."

"No, it's not... this... hey, Joshua calm down, I..."

Before Hayden could finish a complete sentence, he watched helplessly as Ava was dragged into the room by Joshua.

Just as he was about to follow, the door closed in his face. Hayden got a face full of door.

"..."

This was bad. He'd really gotten Ava into trouble this time.

Ava, you're on your own now.

Inside the room, Ava was pinned against the wall by Joshua. Joshua's cold fingers gripped her chin, his eyes like black holes staring at her. "You really know how to walk right into a trap."
