Chapter 204: Annul the Engagement, I Agree
"Grandma, I specifically brought Thea here to apologize to everyone. Thea has a fiery temper, and I have already reprimanded her sternly. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive her."
Briar was chatting happily with Ava when she looked up and saw the two from the Ellis family. Her eyes instantly darkened.
"You're high and mighty young ladies. The King family isn't worthy of being compared to you. I was just thinking of discussing with your grandfather about calling off the engagement between our families."
Lika's face stiffened. "Grandma, the marriage between our families was arranged years ago. Everyone knows about it now. Suddenly breaking it off wouldn't be appropriate."
"There's nothing inappropriate about it. I'll explain it to the media myself when the time comes."
As for Thea, their family was extremely dissatisfied with her and couldn't wait to break off the engagement.
Lika maintained her polite smile. Ignoring Briar's words, she handed Thea a glass of wine. "Grandma is just speaking out of anger, right? If you're still upset, then let Thea make amends by drinking three cups as an apology."
"Thea!" Lika turned her head slightly.
Thea looked at Lika, bit her lip, and stepped forward pitifully. "Grandma, please calm down. I apologize to you and the King family for my impulsive behavior today."
With that, Thea downed the wine in her glass, then poured two more glasses and forced herself to drink them. "I hope you can calm down. I really was just impulsive. I didn't mean it."
"You already got physical when you didn't mean it. What would happen if you did mean it?" Ava said coolly.
Lika's lips twitched. Ava could see she was gritting her teeth so hard they might break.
"Ava is right. When we get back, I'll definitely discipline Thea properly and make sure this kind of thing never happens again."
Lika turned to look at Briar, still wearing her most polite smile. "Grandma, please don't hold it against a younger person."
Thea's attitude was so sincere, and she had humbled herself enough. In this setting, if Briar said anything more, people would only think the King family was being aggressive.
Briar also saw through Lika's intentions and snorted quietly. "Quick thinking."
Lika smiled gently. "Grandma wants to break off the engagement because of those two. Why not let them talk it out and solve it themselves? If it really doesn't work out, then the engagement can be broken."
Hearing this, Thea walked up to Timothy with a conflicted expression. "Timothy, can we talk privately?"
Given Thea's temper, she had been so angry just now her eyes nearly popped out, and now she was here apologizing.
Something was definitely off.
Ava quietly observed Thea's every move.
Timothy's brow furrowed as he followed Thea to the side.
"What do you want to say?" Timothy's face was expressionless.
"Timothy, I know I've done many things wrong, and it's only natural that you want to break off the engagement." Thea sighed softly. "I know the person you like is Ava. Since you want to break off the engagement, then let's do it."
Timothy's eyes narrowed. "What trick are you trying to pull now?"
"I'm not. I really just want to let you go and let myself go too." Thea shook her head helplessly, looking completely sincere. She picked up a glass of wine. "Since we're breaking off the engagement anyway, let me toast you. If we can't be husband and wife, being friends is good too."
Timothy's gaze locked onto Thea, but he couldn't see any signs of deception on her face.
It was as if she really had come to terms with it.
Timothy took the wine from Thea's hand and downed it in one gulp. "It better be that way."
With that, Timothy turned and left.
A triumphant smile appeared on Thea's face. She exchanged a glance with Lika, who smiled gently.
...
"Ava, Timothy is looking for you."
Ava was about to leave when a server suddenly stopped her.
Ava turned around. "Timothy is looking for me? Where is he?"
"Please come with me."
"Wait." Ava said coldly. "If he's looking for me, why didn't he come himself and sent you instead?"
"It's like this, Ava. Timothy was looking for you but couldn't find you, so he told us to keep an eye out and let you know if we saw you." The server's explanation was reasonable.
Ava frowned slightly and glanced around. The server made a welcoming gesture, and Ava started following him.
The elevator reached the third floor.
The third floor was all rooms. Since everyone was gathered on the second floor, there weren't many people on the third floor. After walking a few steps, Ava stopped. "Are you sure it's Timothy looking for me?"
"Yes."
Ava's expression turned cold. Timothy was always thoughtful. No matter how important something was, he would never arrange to meet her alone in a room on an occasion like this.
Realizing something was wrong, Ava turned to leave, but two men suddenly appeared behind her. A hand came from behind, and a towel was pressed firmly over her nose and mouth.
Ava's eyes flickered, and she felt her whole body go weak, instantly losing consciousness.
The men's faces showed sinister smiles. "Carry her in."
Ava was carried into a room. Only a warm yellow lamp was lit inside. She was thrown onto the bed, and the men quickly left.
Timothy, burning up from the drug coursing through his veins, had just come out of the bathroom when he saw a woman with a seductive figure lying on the bed.
He walked over with what little rationality he had left, and his pupils contracted. It was Ava.
He immediately turned away, lowered his head, pressed his hands against the wall, his Adam's apple bobbing. His hands clenched tightly as he closed his eyes deeply, the burning heat in his body continuously surging up.
The room was filled with the woman's faint scent, constantly entering his nostrils, desire continuously attacking his rationality.
His body's heat urgently needed release. His burning gaze fell on Ava with extreme conflict.
He reached out, his fingers gently caressing Ava's tender, fair cheek.
The next moment, he suddenly pulled his hand back and slapped himself hard.
Wake up.
If he did this, she would hate him forever.
But...
He really wanted her, so badly, wanted her to the point of madness.
He liked Ava, very much.
Right now, in the same room, she was on his bed.
He knew he'd been drugged, that it was a trap, but at this moment he didn't want to resist.
After tonight, Ava would be his—the voice in his head told him.
He wanted her, he really wanted this woman.
This woman's charm deeply attracted him.
Once she became his, he would marry her. He would take responsibility.
He thought through every reason, unable to resist. He leaned down, pressing against her, his kiss falling on Ava's neck.
