Chapter 132: A Beautiful Misunderstanding
"Mommy, Daddy." Finn poked his head out, holding mechanical toys in his hands, his little face beaming as he ran toward Ava.
"Finn, what were you doing hiding back there?" Ava hadn't even noticed Finn was in the back.
No wonder she couldn't find him.
"These mechanical parts are really well-made. Some of them Finn has never seen before. Finn really likes it here. Daddy, are you really giving all of these to Finn?"
"Yes, of course. Is this enough? If not, I'll have people bring more."
"Enough, enough, this is plenty."
Ava put her hand to her forehead. "Alright Finn, it's too late now. Go wash up and sleep. You can play tomorrow. Look, Cleo's already asleep."
"Okay, I'm going to bed. Mommy, you should rest soon too."
Joshua and Ava went out, gently closing the door behind them.
Joshua led Ava toward the bedroom—the room they had lived in when they were married before.
Joshua pushed the door open. "You've stayed in this room before, so you're familiar with it. Everything inside is new, you can use it directly."
If Ava remembered correctly, this was originally Joshua's room too. The room's decor was all familiar—arranged according to her previous preferences.
If she was sleeping here tonight, where would Joshua sleep? Ava turned to look at Joshua. "What about you?"
Joshua straightened up, his eyes smiling. "If you want me to sleep with you, that's fine too."
Ava's eyes trembled slightly. Being stared at by his ambiguous gaze, her cheeks flushed. "No need, no need."
Seeing Ava's blushing face, Joshua's smile deepened. "Rest well. I'll be next door. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Ava let out a soft sigh, walked into the bathroom to run the water, then came out to grab a bathrobe.
Ava immersed her entire body in the large bathtub. The warm water soaked her whole body, dispelling much of the coldness. She sighed softly, her soft body leaning wearily against the tub wall.
She hadn't been this relaxed in a long time.
She didn't know how much time had passed...
She felt icy water overwhelming her from all directions. She was submerged by the tide, the danger of suffocation, sinking continuously.
Suddenly a hand tightly grabbed her arm and pulled her up.
Ava's eyes flew open, bursting out of the water, one hand gripping the tub wall tightly, the other clutching her chest...
Because of the sudden movement, quite a bit of water splashed out, also splashing onto Joshua.
Joshua's dark brows were furrowed, his voice cold with urgency. "What are you doing?"
Seeing Joshua there, she quickly grabbed the nearby bathrobe to cover her chest.
Ava had choked on quite a bit of water and was coughing badly.
Seeing her like this, a flash of heartache crossed Joshua's eyes.
Ava had accidentally fallen asleep leaning against the bathtub, her body sliding down until water covered her nose, and she'd choked on several mouthfuls.
Ava felt a weight on her shoulders—a clean bathrobe fell onto them, then Joshua bent down, his arms sliding under her lower back and knees, lifting her up.
Ava startled. "Hey, you..."
Joshua's expression was dark. "If you want to sleep, lie on the bed. Sleeping in the bathtub—are you trying to drown yourself?"
Ava softened her voice. "I fell asleep by accident."
The freshly bathed Ava had a pleasant milky fragrance that went straight into Joshua's nose, stirring his nerves. He felt an inexplicable heat rising in his body.
Joshua's sexy Adam's apple bobbed. He placed her on the bed and was about to get up when his foot stepped on the slippers by the bed. He slipped and fell toward Ava.
Ava was dazed. "You!"
Joshua immediately braced his hands on the bed, steadying himself.
Suddenly their eyes met. Ava's eyes widened at the handsome face suddenly so close, their faces extremely near, almost able to hear each other's breathing.
Joshua's gaze moved down from her neck, raising an eyebrow.
Only then did Ava realize that her loosely worn bathrobe had somehow come open, falling to her shoulders, the spring scenery below her neck exposed. Blush climbed up her cheeks as her hands quickly pulled it up.
Seeing Ava's action drew an extremely soft chuckle from Joshua. "You don't need to be shy. We already have Finn and Cleo—what part of you haven't I seen?"
"You!" Ava bit her lip. "You're shameless."
"Only shameless with you."
"And you're proud of it?"
"Being shameless with the woman I love is a man's nature. Besides, you're mine anyway."
"Who's yours? Who agreed to that?"
Ava's face burned under his scorching gaze. Joshua really had an impossibly handsome face that was hard to resist. The white shirt on him carried his unique mature elegance, and his hormonal presence was incredibly charming.
Especially when those eyes rolled with desire, it was really too much to handle.
Ava didn't realize that she had been captivated by Joshua's face, staring at him for several seconds.
When those watery eyes stared at someone without blinking, she didn't know how alluring she was.
Joshua's sexy Adam's apple moved up and down. He kissed her lips forcefully, pulling her soft body into his arms, hooking her tongue, conquering her defenses bit by bit.
"Joshua, you..."
Before Ava could finish her sentence, Joshua pressed her onto the bed, sealing her crimson lips again.
He lifted her leg and placed it around his waist, his hand finding the bathrobe's belt and untying it, his hand exploring inside her robe, touching her delicate skin.
Both of them trembled.
Especially Ava, as his kisses fell on her collarbone.
The bathrobe on her body had already been pushed aside by him into disarray.
Ava gasped anxiously. "Joshua..."
Joshua paused, his beautiful eyes fixed on her. "Let's remarry, okay? I'll give you everything, everything."
Ava was kissed dizzy, her hands pressed against Joshua's shoulders. "Joshua, calm down."
"Can't calm down."
Joshua's hand suddenly pulled hard, directly lifting her up, pressing her tightly against himself. Even through his shirt, Ava could feel the heat radiating from his body.
His lips fell on her neck, moving down from her neck.
Ava's starry eyes were confused, her heart beating as if it would jump out of her chest, but her body unconsciously followed Joshua's rhythm.
Their skin pressed against skin...
Were they really going to...
"Joshua... I think we can talk, let's chat... okay?"
"No chatting, no time."
Ava bit her lip tightly, still unable to resist Joshua's teasing, letting out a soft moan.
"Mommy, Daddy, what are you doing?"
A child's voice suddenly appeared.
Joshua immediately straightened up, pulling the blanket to wrap Ava completely.
Ava hid under the blanket, wrapping herself tightly, wishing she could disappear on the spot.
She and Joshua had almost... almost...
Joshua gritted his teeth, straightening his disheveled clothes, his face dark as he got out of bed. Seeing the two children at the door, he closed his eyes hard.
Finn and Cleo were a bit at a loss seeing Joshua's dark expression.
Joshua gritted his teeth hard. "You... what are you doing here?"
"Can't sleep, looking for Mommy."
Joshua: "...Weren't you sleeping fine just now? Why can't you sleep now?"
"Cleo woke up, wants Mommy. I can't sleep, want Mommy, need Mommy."
"Your mommy's asleep, she needs rest. If you can't sleep, go play with Hayden." Joshua lifted his hands and picked up both children, carrying them out.
Finn and Cleo struggled in the air, waving their little hands and feet, but finding it useless, they went limp and let Joshua carry them.
Finn called out twice. "Daddy, what were you and Mommy doing just now?"
Joshua frowned, "throwing" the two soft children out, and answered, "Making a little brother for you."
Ava, hiding under the covers completely embarrassed, heard what Joshua said and her face turned even redder.
How could he educate children like this?
What was he telling the kids?
Before she could react, the blanket was pulled open and Joshua hugged Ava, very persistent. "Let's continue."
Ava's hand pressed against Joshua's shoulder, pointing at the door. "You get out."
"Did you hear me? Get out. Go make a brother for them yourself."
Ava decisively and mercilessly pulled up the blanket, and under the covers, the little woman was still muttering, "Some father you are, teaching those two nonsense all day long."
