Chapter 129 Joshua Arrives
Ava was completely speechless.
Just as Ava was about to speak, Briar's voice rang out again, "Ava, let me tell you, I have a grandson who would be perfect for you." Briar turned to look at Ava, pulling her hand with great affection.
As she spoke, Briar's supposedly perfect grandson appeared.
Timothy walked over in an expensive dark suit.
His handsome face wore a warm, spring-breeze-like smile, and he looked gentle and refined, like a true gentleman.
But the aura of someone who had long held a position of power gave off a subtle sense of pressure. Ava's mind vaguely conjured up an image of Joshua.
Though both held positions of power, their temperaments were completely different.
When he reached Briar's side, Timothy smiled warmly and respectfully called out, "Grandma."
Briar looked at Timothy with satisfaction, then introduced him to Ava, "Ava, this is my grandson Timothy. Timothy, this is Ava. You two have met before."
Timothy's gaze fell on Ava's face as he politely extended his hand, "Dr. Davis, we meet again."
Ava gently raised her hand and lightly shook Timothy's hand, "Mr. King, hello."
The soft, delicate touch in his palm made Timothy freeze slightly, a barely noticeable emotion flickering in his eyes.
A light handshake, gently released—the two maintained the most normal distance, polite and proper.
Briar's smile deepened.
"Grandma's being discharged today. How about we have a meal together? Grandma really wants to thank you."
Hayden's eyes widened. They were asking Ava to dinner right in front of him.
This was intolerable. Hayden pulled out his phone to tip off Joshua.
Briar held Ava's hand and patted it gently, "That's right, Ava. Since Timothy met you last time, he's been mentioning you to me constantly."
Seeing the bright look in Timothy's eyes, Briar had her answer and nodded with satisfaction.
"No need, Mrs. King, I have things to do today," Ava declined repeatedly.
"You're busy today? No problem, tomorrow works too." As if anticipating Ava's refusal, before Ava could speak, Briar added, "The day after tomorrow is fine too, or the day after that."
"Right, Timothy?" Briar tugged at Timothy's sleeve.
How could Timothy not see through Briar's little scheme? It couldn't be more obvious—she might as well push Ava straight into his arms. He looked at Briar somewhat helplessly and responded, "I'm free anytime."
Ava looked at Timothy in surprise.
Can't you see Mrs. Briar King's obvious intentions?
Ava was at her wit's end. "Mrs. Briar King, Mr. Timothy King, I really have some things to do. We can talk about dinner when there's time." Ava's expression was somewhat unnatural, clearly unable to handle Briar's enthusiasm.
Timothy keenly picked up on this and didn't insist further. He stepped forward slightly and said, "I wonder if it would be convenient to add your contact information? It would be easier for when Grandma comes for follow-up visits."
This reason was so logical and well-founded that Ava couldn't refuse.
"...Okay."
Timothy took out his phone, and Ava gave him her number.
The smile in Briar's eyes was impossible to hide. The more she looked at Ava, the more satisfied she felt.
Hayden clutched his phone, screaming internally: Joshua, get here quick! Ava's about to be stolen away!
Just as Ava was giving Timothy her phone number, she suddenly felt the air around her turn cold.
In the distance, Joshua strode over, cold energy radiating from him.
Samuel, following behind, was already drenched in sweat. Joshua's mood had been terrible lately, only becoming gentle when he was with Ava.
And at this moment, the only love of Joshua's heart was cheerfully exchanging contact information with another man.
Samuel was trembling, honest and dutiful, feeling like crying without tears.
"Joshua, did you fly here?"
"Hey..."
Ava was startled by the arm that suddenly wrapped around her waist. She turned to see Joshua's gloomy face.
Ava's phone nearly slipped from her hand, and her expression froze.
"Why are you here? Aren't you very busy?"
Samuel thought to himself: You're about to be stolen away—even if Joshua's company were going bankrupt, he'd still rush over.
"I am very busy, but I still came."
Briar looked at Joshua, startled. "Joshua?"
"Mrs. King." Since Briar was an elder, Joshua, despite his cold face, was 'relatively' respectful. "My wife and I have matters to attend to. Please excuse us."
Wife?
Ava blinked.
When did she... Ava was forcefully pulled away by Joshua.
Ava quickly put on an awkward but polite smile toward Briar and Timothy. "I'm sorry, I have to go now."
As soon as she finished speaking, Joshua's gaze swept over her like a knife.
A shrewd glint flashed in Briar's eyes as she smiled calmly. "Ava, come visit the King Villa when you're free. I'll be waiting at home. Stay in touch with Timothy—you young people should communicate more and build your relationship."
Ava was completely speechless.
Ava wanted to cough up blood.
Briar really didn't mind stirring up trouble.
Behind her, Joshua's anger felt like it was about to explode.
Timothy watched Ava's slender, stubborn figure, his lips curving slightly. "Grandma, invite her to the King Group's anniversary banquet next month."
Briar understood Timothy's intention and smiled with satisfaction. "Don't worry, I'll handle it. But this Joshua..."
"It's fine. They're divorced. Their current relationship is only maintained by their two children."
In other words, there were no feelings.
Briar nodded meaningfully. "I heard Thea is coming back."
Timothy's eyes darkened. "Yes."
Briar sighed with deep meaning. "If you two truly don't have feelings for each other, break off the engagement. Don't drag each other down. Thea is too calculating—Grandma doesn't like her."
"I understand, Grandma. I'll handle this matter properly."
...
"Hey, Joshua, you're hurting me." Ava was exasperated. "Are you crazy?"
Joshua turned and pressed the person behind him against the wall.
Peacemaker Hayden chased after them. "Joshua, Ava—small fights bring joy, big fights hurt relationships. Let's use words, not hands."
Ava was pressed against the wall, staring at Joshua with both wariness and anger.
Joshua clenched his jaw.
Hayden and Samuel following behind were practically trembling.
Just when they thought Joshua was about to explode, he squeezed his eyes shut hard. "Yes, I'm crazy."
"Are you done? Are we leaving or not?" Joshua asked coldly, his face dark. "I'm going crazy because of you. Every minute I'm not by your side, someone comes to steal you away. Timothy wants to pursue you, his grandmother wants to set you two up—can't you see that?"
"I'm not blind, but I refused." Ava was fed up with being yelled at all the time.
