Chapter 123 Hurt My Child, Pay with Your Life
Mia's heart jumped to her throat in fear. She shook her head desperately, "I... I wanted to save Finn at the time. I was afraid they would hurt the children. I wanted to save them."
"Save?" Ava sneered.
The laugh had barely ended when she suddenly grabbed a decorative piece from the coffee table and smashed it directly at Mia's head.
Mia had no time to dodge.
The glass decoration hit her head hard, shattered violently, and fell to the ground, scattering fragments everywhere.
Mia fell heavily onto the broken glass.
Mia let out an inhuman scream of pain.
Ava grabbed Mia's carefully styled long hair, looking down at her from above with cold eyes, "Didn't I tell you that if you hurt my child even a little, I'd take your life? Why do you insist on courting death?"
"I didn't, I didn't hurt your child. I really... I really wanted to save them. Ava, let me go... let me go."
Mia, screaming continuously, was thrown against the wall by Ava and immediately lost consciousness, her eyes half-closed, bloody and looking like a mess.
The person in front of her was even more terrifying, like the grim reaper itself.
Katya upstairs heard the noise and came down following the sound, only to see Mia lying on the ground covered in blood.
All the servants nearby were scared and kneeling on the ground.
Joshua and Ava stood there coldly, like two demons coming to claim their lives.
Joshua's gaze shifted to Katya. Katya was so scared that even her face mask fell off. Her legs went weak as she ran down and hugged Mia, "Mia, Mia, what happened? What's going on? Who hit you! Who hit you?"
The servants kneeling on the ground tremblingly pointed at Ava standing there quietly.
Katya gritted her teeth hard, "Ava, you bitch, you ungrateful wretch. Mia saved your son, and you still treat her like this. Does Mia owe you something? Mia shouldn't have saved your son, you damn bitch. I'll kill you."
Katya got up and raised her hand to slap Ava across the face.
Joshua's brow furrowed tightly, the cold air around him instantly spreading. He stepped forward and grabbed Katya's hand.
Katya was shocked and terrified by Joshua's icy oppressive presence.
"Mr. Thomas... You, Mia has been beaten like this by Ava and you still want to protect this woman?"
Joshua said coldly, "She didn't deserve to be hit?"
"Mr. Thomas, you can't bully people like this. What did Mia do wrong? She even saved Finn at the time. Why should she be beaten by this woman like this? This matter of Mia being beaten today can't just end like this." Katya's attitude was extremely firm, holding Mia tightly in her arms.
Ava ground her teeth, her icy gaze sweeping over Katya's grimacing face.
Joshua's brow furrowed deeply, "Say that again."
Katya trembled hard under Joshua's cold stare, her voice stuck in her throat. After a second's pause, she steeled herself and said again, "Mr. Thomas, Mia did save Finn. I... did I say something wrong? She saved someone and still has to be beaten by Ava. We just want an explanation."
She seemed certain that since Mia had saved Finn, Joshua would definitely not do anything to her out of gratitude.
So she held onto this 'favor' without fear.
"An explanation?" Joshua ground his back teeth, endless coldness condensing between his brows, and coldly beckoned with his hand.
Samuel immediately came forward with bodyguards, one on each side pressing down on Katya's shoulders.
Katya's whole body was shaking, "You? What are you going to do?"
Two slapping sounds fell, and the bodyguards released Katya.
Katya clutched her face tightly, unable to even cry out.
Joshua glanced at her coldly, like a demon crawling out of hell.
Oscar, who had just returned from outside, happened to see this scene and was instantly furious.
"You, what are you doing?" Oscar pushed Samuel aside.
"Oscar, help, help!" Katya found her pillar of support and threw herself at her husband for help.
Oscar wanted to continue speaking when Samuel's cold, hard, angry voice rang out, "Mr. Wilson, ask your good wife what she's done. She dared to touch the Thomas family's children. The Thomas family and the Wilson family aren't done with this."
"These two slaps were just to shut her mouth. If she dares to curse Ms. Davis one more time, I'll definitely tear her mouth apart."
Having been by Joshua's side for so long, Samuel could tell from just one look Joshua's towering rage.
All three were startled by Samuel's words.
Katya's pupils suddenly contracted violently. After a full five seconds of stiffness, she loudly refuted, "It wasn't me, Mr. Thomas, it wasn't me. Who told you... how could I have kidnapped the children..."
Oscar, knowing the seriousness of this matter, kept refuting, "What does the kidnapping of the Thomas family's children have to do with my wife? You must have made a mistake. My daughter even saved Finn. You must have made a mistake." Oscar tried hard to explain.
"Mr. Thomas, if Mia hadn't angered the kidnappers, Ms. Cleo Thomas wouldn't have been injured and still be lying in the hospital. Are you sure you want to keep bringing up saving Mr. Finn Thomas?"
Oscar was shocked. These two idiots didn't really go after those two Thomas family children, did they? He explained guiltily, "She... she meant well at the time... Katya has always been the most timid. She couldn't possibly have sent people to kidnap the Thomas family's children. There must be some misunderstanding."
"Whether it was good intentions or deliberate, Mr. Thomas and Ms. Davis will judge for themselves. It's not your place to say." Samuel glanced at them coldly and said sternly.
"Let them die knowing the truth." Joshua's extremely cold voice came through.
The three people in front trembled violently.
Especially Mia and Katya. Mia huddled in Katya's arms, shaking uncontrollably, unable to even make a crying sound.
Katya frantically grabbed Mia's hand, her whole body trembling uncontrollably.
"Yes." Samuel immediately opened the video on his phone.
Katya picked up the phone with trembling hands. The people in the video were covered in blood, as if they had suffered great torture, but their words could be vaguely heard clearly.
"I know I was wrong, I really was wrong. Kill me, I'll pay with my life. Let them go, they're innocent. Let them go."
"Let them go? Who will pay for what my woman and children suffered?"
"I will, I will. I'll talk, I'll tell you everything. A woman contacted us, someone from the Wilson family. She had us do things for her before. Her phone number is still in my phone."
Katya suddenly screamed, as if holding a hot potato, and threw the phone away violently, her eyes wide with terror.
"It's not like that, it's not like that. They're lying. I didn't, I didn't do this. I don't know them. They're lying. Don't believe them."
