Chapter 36: Unspoken Bonds

Chapter 36: Unspoken Bonds
The world outside seemed distant, as if it had no bearing on the small, private space they had carved out for themselves. Isla could still feel the remnants of the lingering tension in the air, but here, with Damian, it felt like time stood still. The weight of their responsibilities was still there, but for now, they were two souls intertwined in a moment of pure connection.

Damian was sitting beside her now, his hand resting lightly on hers, his touch reassuring and warm. The fire crackled softly in the background, casting flickering shadows across their faces as they sat in the quiet. The silence between them wasn’t uncomfortable, it was a space where they could breathe, reflect, and just be together.

Outside, the night deepened, the wind whispering against the walls like a lullaby meant only for them. In here, there was nothing but warmth, the glow of the fire, the softness of skin against skin, the quiet rhythm of hearts syncing in the hush of intimacy. Isla’s thumb ran gently over Damian’s knuckles, anchoring them both in the now. The world could wait. For once, they allowed themselves to exist only in each other’s presence, without fear, without the weight of what came next. It was a kind of peace neither of them had known in a long time.

Isla turned toward him, her heart swelling with the love she felt for this man. For everything he was. The Alpha, the protector, the fierce warrior, but also the man who had opened his heart to her in ways she hadn’t thought possible.

“I still don’t understand why the Elders are so set on destroying me,” she said softly, her gaze never leaving his. “What do they really fear?”
Damian’s expression darkened. He was silent for a moment, considering her words carefully. Then he sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

“They fear what you represent, Isla,” he said, his voice low but steady. “You’re not just a mate to me. You’re the one. The one who can unite the factions, the one who could bring about a new age for us and that... scares them. They want control, they want power, and you’re the key to everything they’ve built.”
Isla felt a pang in her chest, a deep understanding forming. She wasn’t just caught in this fight because of her bond with Damian, she was a symbol, a beacon of something bigger. It wasn’t just love at play here. It was destiny.

“I won’t let them take that from us,” she said, her voice resolute. “I’m not afraid anymore.”

Damian’s eyes softened as he looked at her, his gaze full of admiration and something deeper, something raw. He leaned forward slightly, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face with his fingers, the touch tender and intimate.

“Good,” he murmured, his voice husky. “Because this, us, is more than I ever imagined. It’s more than I ever thought I deserved.”
Her heart skipped at his words, and she leaned in, capturing his lips with hers in a slow, lingering kiss. The pressure between them built, but there was no urgency. It was a kiss full of promises, full of love, full of everything they were to each other.

Damian deepened the kiss, his hand moving gently to the side of her neck, pulling her closer, sliding down onto her hardened nipple. Letting out a low groan. She could feel the heat of his body against hers, the familiar rush of warmth and desire sparking between them. But this time, there was no frenzy. No need to rush. They were exploring each other in a way that felt timeless.

Isla’s fingers slid down the front of his chest, tracing the muscles there, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat grounding her in the moment. When she broke away, her breath was shallow, but she didn’t pull away completely, she could feel his length beckoning for her attention. Instead, she looked at him, really looked at him, eyes searching for something deeper.

“Damian,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “I want to be here with you. I want to face everything... together.”

He exhaled sharply, his eyes burning with intensity as he cupped her face in his hands. “You are everything to me, Isla. And nothing will come between us.”
The air between them crackled with heat, but it wasn’t just physical. It was the weight of everything they had yet to face, everything they had already overcome. It was the bond they shared, unspoken but undeniable, that pulled them together again and again.

As their lips met once more, there was a tenderness that felt like a promise. The night stretched on, the world outside forgotten, as they shared something that was more than just desire, it was connection. Deep, unbreakable, and timeless.
