Chapter 4

The bodyguards finally snapped to attention, one of them stepping in front of me.

"Sorry, Ms. Hull, we were distracted. Dock our pay, it won't happen again," he said, turning to me with a face full of shame.

"It's okay, just a slap. We'll repay it double!"

Upon hearing this, the two bodyguards immediately took action, one of them pulling Mira over and slapping her hard across the face, causing her to fall to the ground, whimpering as she crawled towards Rylee.

"Mrs. Wilhelmina, please stand up for me!"

Seeing Mira's state made Rylee's face darken terribly. She suddenly looked up and shouted, "You wretched woman, how dare you hit people like that! Come on, let's see if your bodyguards dare to hit me! I'll tear you apart!"

Her words intimidated neither of the bodyguards. One of them raised his hand and fiercely slapped Rylee.

The slap made her see stars, her head tilting sharply as she fell to the ground with a thud.

The store manager frowned, handed me the ruby ringruby ring, and hurried into his office.

"Ah! You bitch. You really had someone hit me!"

Rylee, more enraged, stood up and charged at the bodyguards again, but was firmly restrained.

I smiled slightly. "Rylee, does this scene seem familiar? Weren't you doing the same to me at the funeral?"

With that, I couldn't hold back any longer and slapped her sharply across the face.

"Bitch! Homewrecker! Scum, I'll have you know, Wyatt will make you pay for crossing me!" Rylee's hair was a mess, a slap mark on each cheek. She screamed at me like a madwoman.

I just smiled in response to her words.

The jewelry store manager came out of the office, smiled at me but said nothing.

I was puzzled, but soon, sirens blared.

The bodyguards let go of Rylee, and she immediately rushed at me.

Rylee grabbed my hair, about to strike, when the police arrived!

"Stop!"

Before she could act, she was pinned to the ground by the police.

"Police corruption, huh? Wyatt was right, you police are all in favor of this woman!"

She screamed, her face against the ground.

The police officers looked grim.

"Officers, our store has surveillance. You can check it; the footage has audio."

The store manager led the police to the office.

Soon, the results were out. The surveillance footage was copied and taken away, and Rylee and I were brought into the police station again.

"Rylee, now, you need to seek Lajoi's forgiveness and compensate her for her emotional distress."

Hearing this, Rylee was stunned. She had just been released from the police station, and now she had to be detained again for the same reason!

"Officer, this wretch will never forgive me. And what did I do wrong? She tried to steal my ruby ring!"

"Why should I apologize first!"

Rylee grew more agitated, standing up and yelling at me.

"The surveillance from Phoenix Jewelry Store has been reviewed, and there's no issue with it! It even has audio! We've clearly understood the whole situation!"

The officer's mention of the audio immediately silenced Rylee.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, perhaps out of regret.

"Lajoi, no, Miss Hull, I was wrong. Please forgive me this once."

Rylee turned around with a lovingly pathetic look as if she had suffered greatly.

"Impossible."

I crossed my legs, smiled slightly, my voice icy cold.

"Bitch! You deserve to die!"

Rylee bowed her head, her resentful murmur reaching my ears.
