Chapter 27

VANESSA

By the time I had gotten to the East side, it was a bloodbath. The shifters had left. My eyes filled with tears at what I saw. The casualties were a number I couldn’t count. Kids. Woman. Alpha. Luna. The Mirror Sight Pack. was gone. Only 5 remained. Asher stood beside me, and I saw the tears forming in his eyes. None of this will end unless they get me, they end me. We stood there for about an hour, as we took a knee to honor those who have fallen. More and more came and did the same. They wouldn’t be dead if I were. I stood up and faced Asher.

“I want to complete the mating festival right now. If I die, I want to make sure you have everything you need to lead.” I was loud enough for everyone to hear me.

“Vanessa, you aren’t going to die. You don’t need to do this right now.” My father called.

“I want to do this right now. So do the damn ceremony now!” I demanded.

“Are you sure you want to do this right now Babe?” I knew it was rushed, but it had to be done. I smiled and nodded my head. My father approached us, and we faced him. This isn’t how I want it to be done, but if I didn’t the throne would be auctioned.

“Today we are here in the name of Vanessa Steele, Queen of the werewolves to be mated to the one she has Chosen. Asher Rossi has made the vow to accept Vanessa and his mate. By doing this it’ll destroy any chance at any mates that were destined. Do you both accept?”

“I accept,” I said. I looked over to Asher. He was hesitating and maybe he knew this was all too fast.

“I accept,” He answered.

“Now please do us the honors in marking your mates.” I looked over to him, and he smiled at me. He stepped closer to me brushing my hair out of my neck. He bent down, letting his breath cover my neck before he dug his canines into me. He stayed there a quick minute, before I brought myself to, he creased. I saw Alec behind him, and the hurt that was in his eyes. I hesitated too but he smiled at me and nodded with approval. I always knew he figured out why I do what I did. Mainly because I don’t do it without reason. I let my canines out and sunk them down in his neck to join him. Because we weren’t destined mates, it was harder as it tried to reject me. But soon it caved, and the amount of love that ran through us was amazing. We pulled back, right before he planted a kiss on my lips.

“Now that the mating is complete, you will need to consummate when we are done.” My father had stepped away as I continued.

“Today we mark an era, as a new king has made its way to us. As no one can replace King Alias”

“All hail King Alias” Everyone said.

“I Vanessa Rossi, Queen of werewolves and crowning my mate as your future king. He has shown dedication, and care to those who aren’t anything to him. He has shown me love, and for that he is your king.” I saw him smile as I took his last name. It was always a choice, but this will be the choice that I decide. I am giving my all to my mate.

"Asher, do you promise to take full responsibility for being the King Alpha of the Werewolf kingdom, to protect your people, and make rash choices based on facts? Do you swear to be frontline of all that threatens, and to put your kingdom before anyone? Do you promise to love your mate, accepting her that she is the one and only for you" My mother had stepped forward? He took my hand in his and smiled. It was genuine.

"I Asher Rossi accept all responsibilities to my kingdom, my pack, my mate, my queen." I lifted my hand in order to bring the crown here. A shiny light had come out, and Asher had knelt down. I placed the crown on his head, and a burst of light shined going across the land.

"As my mate, and King. I am giving you a part of me. My son, my love, my power. This crown has given you powers like no other. It comes with great responsibility, but I trust you will use it for good." He stood up embracing me in his arms. He tightened the grip, as it was final.

"All kneel before the King and the Queen!" Everyone around had knelt down, as we walked back to the pack house. We had to conceal the bond, before it faded. I was finally mated to one I want to be with.

We had finished the bond, and I laid on his stomach looking up at him. He had a contagious smile, that sent knots to my stomach. Sex wasn't anything like the one after a bond. He had only been the second person I was with, and it was the best moment you could ask for.

"I know we rushed things, and I am sorry if you felt pressured." The guilt was eating me up like I was waiting for him to change his mind all of a sudden.

"At first it did, but I don't regret it my mate. It was going to happen regardless. You have your reason I am sure." I looked down at him because he had guessed it. I wanted to leave my son with a father, and my kingdom with a king. I was leaving soon and wanted to enjoy these moments one last time.

"I need to go see my son really quick, if that's okay?"

"You don't need to ask permission; I may be the king. But we are equals in this time era." I stood up and planted a heavy kiss on him. I wanted to remember this moment, as it's our last. I forced myself away, before slipping into some clothes.

I headed into the play area to find Alec with Drew. They were training. Drew spotted me and darted towards me.

"Hey, my prince, I needed to see you."

"Hey mom, I missed you!" I knelt down and planted a kiss on him.

"Drew, I want you to know that I love you no matter what happens. You are the strongest boy I know and one day this pack will be blessed with you. My love for you is eternity okay" I put my forehead to his, before embracing him in my arms. I hid the tears as much as I could, so he wouldn't notice this is my goodbye. I tore myself from his embrace and went over to Alec.

"Alec, you have grown a lot and I am happy to have met you." He looked down at me with curiosity.

"I am happy for you Vee; you choose for reasons. I always learned it was for the best." I took in a breath as I parted ways. But I needed to make something clear.

"Alec, I need you to promise me that you will protect Drew with your last breath."

"Why does this feel like goodbye Vanessa?" He asked. His eyes were glossing.

"Promise me, please promise me. He needs you more than anyone." He took my hands in his.

"I promise, what's going on?" I never wanted things to be like this. I stood up and placed a kiss on his cheek. I couldn't stop the tears that were escaping.

"I am making you Alpha of the Mirror Sight Pack. You will rebuild what is broken. Yet you will assist the King. I love you and always have." He stood there in shock, and I made this the last words before I tried walking away. But he stopped me, I knew this is the only way to ensure he can protect. I reached up and kissed him, so that I could transfer a quarter of my powers to him. This was goodbye and he felt that. I waited a few minutes, before I pushed off. I raised my hands up, to transport me to the woods outside my barrier. As soon as the quietness came. I broke down in tears, as the thought of never seeing my son again killed me, never seeing Asher break my wolf, but not seeing Alec's angry face each day. Everything was so real, but as a queen I put my kingdom frontline.

I couldn't tell you how long I was there crying, but it needed to be done.

"Warlock! Get your ass here now!" I screamed for him, and he didn't respond.

"I surrender myself to you, for no one else to get hurt. I will not use any of my power, as I am not as strong anymore. You are to do whatever you'd like." I waited and it still was quiet. A loud ringing begins to happen that causes me to my feet. Soon a hand was on my head, and it went black. He was taking me.

ALEC

She kissed me, and I was pulling back when I felt power running through that kiss. She was saying goodbye, and I couldn't let it happen. I ran towards the border and exited the barriers.

"Vanessa!! You don't need to do this!" I screamed. But a loud ringing started, that would usually bring me to my knees. But my heart laid heavy. She was gone. She left to protect us, she mated to protect us. I ran through barriers headed to the palace. Asher had jumped when he saw me storm in with tears in my eyes.

"She's gone." But I saw tears in his eyes, which showed he knew. His hands were in face, as he saw the bleeding of his mark. She left to lie for us. It was bleeding, that means she is dying. Drew came in, and he saw us. I wrapped him in my arms because this isn't going to be easy to explain.

"Where's my mom?" He asked.

"I am sorry buddy, she is gone." He pushed out of my arms.

"No, she can't be gone, I just saw her." His eyes were filled with tears, and he was crying. His cry was the hardest thing to watch. His cry turned into a scream. That brought us to our knees. The scream of a siren.

"We need to look for her." Asher said.

"We will, we will find her. We have eternity to do so." Asher went to Drew and wrapped him in his arms. He fought for a few minutes but collapsed in his arms.

"I want my mommy" He cried harder and harder.

"We are going to find her, I promised to look after both of you and I will. Alec and I won't stop okay buddy?"

"The Queen is missing." I alerted everyone in mind-link. This was the beginning to an end.
