Chapter 16

VANESSA

It took a total of 4 hours before she laid in front of us. She didn't look like what she used to. She had pale skin, blonde hair, grey eyes. She laid down in a fetal position trying to gain strength as she had just been born. Her eyes were looking straight at me. I took off my muscle shirt, and pants and began to dress her. I stood out in nothing but me under garments. But she fell back asleep in my arms.

"What's wrong with her witch?" I looked back at her Carol, as she propped herself on a tree. She looked beat.

"I don't know the full length of the spell, but as you can see. She came as a different person. She seems to be somewhat different now. I told you the spell wasn't ready." I knew she was right, but if I wanted to be committed to Alec, I need things to end between Alias and me. I need it to be official before I get my mate mark. Got dammit I wish I weren’t pregnant right now. I picked Lilas in my arms in a bridal style. I was strong, but when you're carrying the extra 20 pounds I have been. It's hard.

"I am taking her to the pack house. Go rest Carol. Thank you for helping." I began walking away when she stopped me.

"You called me by my first name." When I peeked over my shoulder, all I saw was a smile on her face. I started to walked over some more. It took me a few hours, as I had to keep take breaks. Between the sore breasts and having to pee every 3 seconds I didn't think I would ever make it. I got to the pack house after many hours. But for some reason it was quieter than usual. No one was in sight.

I was attacked from my side, knocking Lilas out of my hands. I clutched my stomach as the impact was rougher than I'd like. When I finally gained strength, I looked over to see what it was. The vampire that was supposed to be one I mated with was standing there, with the death in his eyes.

"You think you could get rid of me, and my kind?" He yelled. I picked myself up. I had lost a lot of energy, beforehand.

"Oh, so you heard, well guess the secrets out" I couldn't help but smirk. Their entire existence was in my hands. It was a selfish choice, but I was raised by wolves. Every other kind gave me no loyalty until it came down to repopulating.

"You have a chosen destiny, and we need you." I sense him coming in for any attack again. I couldn't take another hit to the stomach again, I got to think about my baby. But somehow my mind link was not reaching anyone. He started darting at, and I quickly shifted into my wolf. My white wolf came out, as a lot of my energy was gone. I managed to cut him off, slamming him into the ground. He jumped right back up, colliding his fist into my snout. I was angry now, my fur started shifting to a salt and pepper color. He ran towards me, as we were circling coming in to trap my body. I grabbed his hand with my mouth, trying to tear it off.

But I was too slow, he kicked my side of my stomach. I fell clutching my stomach. I looked down, smelling the iron running down my legs. Dammit. This can't be happening. Why is no one hearing what's going on? I decided to block everything out as I focused on a part of me. I opened my mouth to howl when a scream came out. The kind of scream that dismantles anyone. A siren screams. The vampire had fallen clutching his head. I saw Alias run in from the way I was.

"Vanessa!" I saw him run over to me, but then his eyes darted off to Lilas. I can see that he is confused on where to go, but I think the bleeding from my vagina while pregnant comes to importance.

"Alias, the baby. I am bleeding." I know he took a huge gulp, right before he lifted me in his arms. I noticed him mind linking, but not long after everyone started coming out to help. He started walking toward the pack healers.

"Why isn't my mind link—?"

ALIAS

I noticed how Vanessa ran into the forest by herself. Everything was a shit show at this point, and I don't know how to make it better. I know we were only with each other because we forced a mark upon each other. And now this child, the first time we get intimate. But I knew we needed some space. So, I headed towards the South in order to catch a breath. I was about 5 miles out. I sat by the river and just did some thinking. Being here in this time and learning everything new.

It's not what I wanted, but not I really don't have much of a choice. We have a child coming soon... I started thinking about the mate I could have had, and if things would have been better. But Vanessa was all that I know, so I don't think I could ever replace the history.

Here I was standing on the throne, Vanessa joined me. I don't think I ever realized how beautiful she was, when she was just a regular girl. Her tan skin shined with the moon beading down on her. She had these plump lips, that I've never kissed. My best friend in the entire world, is going to be mine. She didn't refuse, she is choosing me. Bringing Both the Crescent Pack, and the Creed pack together. Caleb was a fool to let her go, knowing she had a love like no other to give, and the strength to make his pesky pack okay.

Her father’s recitals ended, as she bowed to me. Right before she was supposed to make the step to me. But no. She needed to know how I feel. I walked up to her, before she moved a muscle. I laid my lips on her, where she submitted herself to me. This was not how they went, but it did. She laid her head to the side, giving me access to her neck. I rubbed my thumb from her neck to her shoulder. She had a mole that really made her neck stand out. The vein I can see it pumping. I lowered my head and slowly dug my canines in her skin. The intimacy of how they slid in. Her shoulder started to shake, as it'll be harder to imprint because we aren't destined. I grasped the back of her neck. She let out a painful moan as it finally latched.

I let go of her neck, licking up the mess I made in trying to get it to work. I kissed her cheek, right before I lowered myself so she could mark me.

"Are you sure I am what you want as your mate Alias?" She looked at me, looking for any sign of doubt. I cupped both her cheeks in my hand.

"I've never been sure about anything until now mate" She plastered a smile, right before she grabbed my neck and sunk her hybrid fangs into my neck. Hers were longer, and pointier. It latched right away, almost thinking I was going to die. But it became one with so much sexual desire. She unlatched and looked up to me. I wrapped her in my arms. It was that moment; I knew I made the right choice."

Now I am looking at her, while the healers are observing her body. They used some wand over her stomach.

"What kind of magic is that?" I asked.

"This is an ultrasound machine; it will check on the baby on this screen" She focused back on Vanessa. Alec had slammed through the door as soon as he heard.

"What happened to her?" He rushed over to me, looking as if he was going to die without his precious mate, which got me thinking. He never acted this way up until today.

"She chooses you?" Now he was looking nervous, but I wasn't mad. I was relieved. She deserved happiness, and I was giving her forced happiness.

"We can talk about it later, what's going on with her?" The healer put the wand over her belly. Until she stomachs. She had pressed a button and had shushed us to be silent. Both Alec and I were nervously waiting for answers. We heard nothing... I looked over to Alec's face which tears were forming in his eyes...

"What is going on, can someone please explain?" The doctor kept looking but you can tell something was terribly wrong.

"Alias, the baby—" But right before he said something a thumping sound appeared. It was light, but it was there. But when I looked on the monitor something looked strange.

"Wait is that what I think it is?" I asked again.

"Nelly, why is the pup and actually pup inside the womb. It's supposed to be a baby?" She had an already shifted baby inside of her. What does that mean? I've never heard of such a thing.

"Alpha, King. I have never experienced anything like it. It's a fetus. They don't shift until they are older. But it appears it's going to be born as a wolf first. She is going to have a painful birth. " She peered over the pup again, and it's eyes were open. It had glowing red eyes. Hybrid.

"I am putting her on bed rest, as she is not out of the woods yet. Any harder, the placenta would have detached. If we can't get the swelling down, or the placenta falls more we will have to go via c-section. "

"What's a via c-section?" Alec laughed, probably because he knows more about this time then I do.

"It means they have to go in surgically to remove the pup sooner than thought."

"Wait, but the pup won't have a chance if you do so. It is not ready." I looked at Vanessa as I went and put her hands in my own. She was asleep from the exhaustion of her yelling Her body was trying to heal, but so far with the pup, has taken all her energy.

"We have the medical equipment to ensure the baby is okay. Would you like to know the pup’s gender?" How could one know of such a thing? It's inside.

"This wand can show us what it is." The healer said.

"No wait, Vanessa would want to know. How about you look, write it in a paper. I'll throw her a gender reveal party" Alec looked really excited about this party. But I think I can torture him a bit as soon as he finds out she hates party. I let out a huff to cover my laugh, and just nodded. This is going to be fun. He is taking my queen so why not a little payback. The lady handed him an envelope, which he hurriedly ran out the door.

"He's going to get his ass kicked by the queen, isn't he? The healer asked.

"Oh, she is going to have a field day with him. She hates surprises. The last party she had, I killed her that day" I couldn't help but laugh, because we were over the past. But that is okay though. I couldn't wait to see what he had planned for her.
