CHAPTER FORTY-NINE

Elena's POV

The silver wolf was erect, staring at the renegade leader with its bright eyes. As we all waited, waiting to see what would happen next, there was a lot of tension in the air. My chest was thumping with my heart. Was this our opportunity? Could this craziness be stopped by the silver wolf?

For the first time, the renegade leader's confidence faltered as he sneered. "You once again. Do you believe you can prevent me?

The silver wolf snarled as it advanced, its strength exuding from it. It responded with tremendous energy instead of words.

Stefen hauled himself to his feet, still panting from the earlier battle. He said in a low but firm voice, "Elena, stay back."

With adrenaline and dread rushing through me, I nodded. But I was unable to go. Not right now.

The rogue leader's visage hardened as his eyes darted between us. "This has no effect. Even if you have a guardian, the prophecy is still active. I own the child.

Fear gripped in my stomach, but I refused to back down. "You're not stealing anything."

A chilly smile curved his lips. "Are you still not understanding? This has to do with destiny, not power. The secret to everything is your child.

"Enough!" With his wolf form vibrating beneath his skin, Stefen snarled. The silver wolf advanced before him, but he was prepared to strike.

The silver wolf leaped at the renegade leader in a flash. A shockwave traveled through the air as their bodies connected with a force that rocked the ground. The silver wolf persisted despite the renegade leader's snarling and viciously strong defense.

"We can't just stand here, Steve!" Panic swelling in my chest, I shouted.

Stefen's face tightened as he turned to face me. "I understand, but we must wait for the ideal opportunity."

The two titans clashed, their strikes fast and vicious, and I stared helplessly. Although the silver wolf fought with an unrivaled ferocity, the renegade leader was strong.

As he repelled the silver wolf's assault, the renegade leader's voice echoed loudly over the clearing. "You believe that fate can be stopped? Do you believe this makes a difference?

Stefen stepped closer and spat, "You're crazy." "This concludes tonight."

Even when the silver wolf crashed viciously into the renegade leader, he chuckled darkly. "Alpha, it's too late. Already, the prophecy is coming to pass. It's a losing struggle for you.

The silver wolf refused to back down. It moved with lethal accuracy, with each blow intended to incapacitate and put an end to this once and for all.

The rebel commander wasn't finished, though. He hurled the silver wolf off him and it crashed into a tree with a quick burst of power.

"No!" As the silver wolf stumbled to its feet, its blazing eyes still fixed on the renegade leader, I yelled, my pulse pounding.

Then Stefen transformed into a wolf and charged. He was on the renegade commander in a flash, his teeth digging into the rogue's shoulder. The outlaw let out a cry of agony, but swiftly struck back, sending Stefen crashing to the ground.

"Stefen!" I sobbed, my throat tight with fear.

With blood streaming from his mouth, the renegade leader smiled. "Alpha, your pack is disintegrating. This is not yours to win.

However, the silver wolf reappeared and sunk its fangs into the renegade leader's side before he could attack again. The rogue roared in rage, but the silver wolf held firm.

Shaking from the impact, Stefen hauled himself to his feet. Despite the damage to his wolf form, he was not giving up. He joined the silver wolf in the battle and launched another attack with a snarl.

Despite his strength, the renegade leader was losing ground. His movements slowed, and I could see the weariness settling in. This was our opportunity.

I clinched my fists at my sides and said under my breath, "We have to end this."

Dark energy surged through the air as the rogue leader's body convulsed in a sudden, guttural growl. Stefen and the silver wolf were knocked back as the power surged outward.

I staggered, unable to maintain my balance. "What's going on?"

The rogue leader stood with his body exuding evil energy, his eyes glowing with an uncanny brilliance. "You haven't seen anything yet, but you think you've won."

The ground trembled strongly beneath us before I could react. Earth began to crack, and an unearthly force began to permeate the air.

With my heart pounding, I muttered, "This isn't good."

Breathing heavily, Stefen transformed back into a person. "Elena, we must leave this place."

I shook my head, saying, "No." "We can't go just yet. Not with us so close.

The rogue leader's voice, full of dreadful power, reverberated around the area. "Alpha, this is the end. For your child, yourself, and your Luna.

When I realized what he was plotting, a shiver went down my spine. He was going to destroy everything, not just us.

"No!" Desperation clawing at me, I stepped forward and shouted. "This is not possible!"

The rogue leader's eyes glowed dangerously, and his smile grew. "Observe me."

However, the silver wolf leaped at him once more, its fangs digging into his throat before he could release whatever evil force he had called forth.

As the silver wolf pulled the renegade leader to the ground, his eyes opened in surprise. His wounds were gushing blood, and he appeared vulnerable for the first time.

Stefen snarled and moved forward, saying, "This is for my pack."

He transformed back into a wolf and joined the assault, giving the renegade leader his full force. The air was filled with the rogue leader's shouts, but they were becoming weaker and more frantic.

The rogue commander then went limp with one last, nauseating crack.

There was silence in the clearing. The ground ceased to tremble as the gloomy force in the air vanished.

With my heart thumping in my chest, I muttered, "It's over."

With his eyes full of relief, Stefen transformed back into a person, his body damaged and beaten. "It's finished."

The silver wolf's brilliant eyes were focused on us as it stood over the dead body of the rogue leader. It remained motionless and silent. It did nothing but observe.

"Now what... happens?" With hardly more than a whisper, I asked.

However, a deep, eerie howl reverberated through the trees before anyone could respond.

Stefen's gaze expanded. “We don’t have that one.”

Tall, strong, and radiating with the same sinister energy as the renegade commander, additional people sprang out of the shadows. The actual conflict was only getting started.
