Chapter 77 Sleep with me

Chapter 77 Sleep with me
77\. Sleep with me

Aurora's sleep broke as the helicopter landed on the helipad across Hunter Mansion. She literally jerked in his arms as she watched the sight of the huge adorable mansion, shining under the moon.

"Carefully," Damien helped her get down.

He held her waist with utmost tenderness and led her down. Aura deposited her weight on his arm and walked across the fountain in the garden. Her eyes welcomed a new batch of tears as she glanced at the huge entrance of his arena.

She remembered their fight, his accusations on her character and all that transpired between them. It was indeed a night full of nightmares. Aura can feel him getting tense at the look of her tearful eyes but she couldn't stop making him feel that way or stop herself from feeling so emotional.

She never thought she would ever come back here— to this mansion she's been staying at with him.

"Aurora?" She stared across from them as her thoughts vanished away in a split second for there was Madam Martha standing to welcome them.

"Ma," Aura gasped.

She let go of his arm and sprinted towards her and hugged her with all her might. Aura let her tears loose and cried as if it was a reunion after decades of division. But the truth was that she's been frequently meeting her Ma in Rosario's mansion. Madam Martha would visit her every week and make Aurora her favorite food before she signed off.

"Oh honey, I missed you so freaking much." The old lady crushed her in her arms and released a breath of relief.

"I missed you a lot, Ma. And everybody else," Aura replied as she watched behind her Ma's back at some of the members of staff standing with a welcoming smile, including Oscar.

They were exhilarated to see her. So was Aurora. She missed her home and the feeling of being homely with her mother and loveable boyfriend. She missed the warmth of her bedroom and the lavish kitchen she used to cook in.

"Get that straight in your head Aurora Collins, that I am not letting you go anywhere after today. You are to stay inside the house until you deliver my grandchild." Madam Martha mouth sternly.

She checked Aurora from head to toe out in order to see whether she's well or not. She examined her hands and they were dry and lips cracked. It was visible that she hadn't been taking care of herself at all.

Her eyes streamed looking at her daughter in such a poor condition. What's more, Aurora appeared thin too, whereas she should be looking healthy at this stage.

"I am not going anywhere, Ma. Where will I go after leaving my house? This is where I belong." Aura whispered between her twinkling eyes.

She turned around and stretched her hand forward for Alpha Damien who's been standing affixed in his spot since he let Aurora go further to reunite with her mother.

He was still in pain. He couldn't see this reunion without his own eyes burning with moisture. He's almost destroyed his happy family. Yet, he can see himself being lucky enough to be invited by her for a complete family reunion that missed him.

"Go, Damien!" Brian pushed him forward and smiled at Aurora.

"We will never leave here, Ma." Aura said, her eyes drinking his tormented expressions. "We promise to never leave our home come what may."

Alpha Damien hesitantly stopped before Madam Martha. She had been living in this mansion while Aurora left him, but nothing was okay between the alpha and his senior Housekeeper. Madam Martha treated him as an employer. She did do her job but she was never like she used to be before.

"Damien," The old lady raised her hand to caress his cheek. "We all see bad times. They are meant to break us, my son. I have been through them myself. I have seen days I wish I could change.

I've seen you two grow together as lovers and live like those cheesy protagonists in romance novels. And then fall apart like there won't be any reunion. It tore my heart. I was scared for both of your futures because I have seen you both go through worse. Trust me everything and anything that I did or said was to make you realize what you were losing. You both are an important part of my life. All that I have ever wanted is to see my children happy." She said hoping to explain her actions that she pulled up in these months.

Madam Martha was hurt for hurting him with her cold behavior. He needed her just as Aurora needed him but she couldn't give him what he wanted. She was inclined more towards Aurora and the child, thus ending up making him feel lonely.

Now that she saw him like this, she regretted it. He's been equally vulnerable like Aurora but there was no one to support him or understand him. While Aurora had Rosario and Madam Martha at her side, poor Damien had no one.

"I am so—"

"Please don't," Madam Martha chewed her lips, hearing him interrupt her. "You did everything to make me not lose my shit and hurt ourselves. I am the one who should be apologizing to you, Ms. Martha."

She bobbed her head in a no and lifted herself on her toes to kiss his forehead. Then she pulled them both in her arms and wept happy tears as she finally brought herself to terms that they were here with each other.

"I miss you both. Please don't do anything like this ever again. My old heart is not immune to seeing worse days no more." She sniffed.

Damien and Aurora looked at each other with contentment in their eyes. They locked their fingers together as if promising themselves and said in unison, "Promise that we won't."

"Enough of my drama." Madam Martha pulled apart. "Let's get you both inside. You need some of my soup! Look at you both, you look thin. You are included, Brian." She looked behind Damien at the loyal beta.

"You've been stressing out yourself more than them. Come on in, I'll make you some tasty food." Brian happily ran towards them.

"Yes please, I would love some Mac and cheese with cold wine." Brian added as they walked inside the mansion.

That night they enjoyed a meal like never before. In point of fact, Alpha Damien invited his working staff to join them on the big dining table.

They joked and shared excited laughs. They discussed a lovely nursery for the Alpha's baby they would be welcoming after some months. Alpha Damien enjoyed watching his Aurora fill his mansion with her mellifluous laughs and Madam Martha talk about knitting sweaters and socks for the baby. The staff had already allotted work to themselves for the chores they'd do on arrival of their alpha's baby.

The dinner proved to be such a blessing that no one was willing to leave the dining table. The discussion seemed to never stop however Alpha Damien watched Aura's sleepy lashes flickering in need. Though she was occupied by the staff and their conversation, she was extremely tired and it was visible on her face.

"Okay everyone, it's already too late." Alpha Damien said. "You can continue your conversations tomorrow as the sun appears. Let's go off to bed."

They forgot their alpha met with an accident and there were wounds that needed good rest to heal. But soon as he announced a withdrawal, they obeyed and left. Now it was just Aurora and him on the dining table.

"So?" He broke the silence.

Aura was playing with her fingers nervously. She was nervous to go to bed after being apart from him for so long.

"So what?" She couldn't tell she wanted to go with him to his bed.

"Ermm, nothing," Damien didn't seem to be courageous enough to ask her either.

He got up and offered her a hand, "I'll walk you to your room."

Her heart skipped a beat. Aurora didn't want to sleep by herself. She deserved to be in his arms on her first night after arriving home after two months.

They silently padded further, their hands intertwined. Damien stopped before the door of her bedroom with a deep heave leaving his lungs.

"Good night," He prepared to undo their fingers.

Nevertheless, Aura clutched his hand tighter and pulled her inside her room.

"What? This is…" He attempted to protest but her lips stalled him from speaking further.

Aura took them to bed. Her body was vibrating crazily yet she managed to hop in with him and put her head on his chest, "Sleep with me."
