Chapter 46 Accept what's best for your future

Chapter 46 Accept what's best for your future
46\. Accept what's best for your future

Throughout the day after that she had been gloomy. Her mind won't distract away to any other topic. Even she did not let Damien's thoughts cross her mind as she worried about Chelsea and the other women and their future now.

She was sitting in a chair with a book in her hand, her mind wandering to places she should not care less. Aura would not have moved if it wasn't for the disrupting buzzing of her phone.

Rosario calling.... Flashed on the screen, making Aura take a deep breath before she put the phone near her ear.

"Hey mama, how are you doing today?" He sounded excited.

Rosario merely addressed her with her name. During their conversations online or offline, he referred to her as the mother of a baby that would call him uncle. She insisted many times to avoid giving away wrong hints to the people around them but he won't listen.

"Hmm, good." Aura's reply conveyed her despondency. She was bad at hiding her emotions and sorrow was the one she sucked at covering even in her tone.

"Hey, are you okay? You don't sound good." The playfulness was replaced by earnestness as Rosario huffed.

"Something happened in the mansion and I cannot settle with it."

"What? Hope your baby is fine. You didn't slip or something, did you?"

A smile of sincerity crept on her lips as Aurora got up from the chair. She paused before the window and let the chirping of buoyant birds wash over her.

"No, Rosario. Chill, my baby is fine. It's the coworkers." She answered honestly.

They never spent enough time in college, not after that either, but their friendship grew stronger than any year old friends. She was okay with sharing everything with him, including her feelings for Damien and worry towards her coworkers. Rosario was cognizant of her position as Damien's Housekeeper in his mansion. It was relieving to have a friend like him who listened to her with patience.

"You remember Chelsea? I told you about one of my coworkers growing insecure and envious to me."

"Yep, I do remember her. What did she do this time?"

"Nothing. She just tried to walk out of the breakfast for I was there between them all and Madam Martha with other few people called her out, mentioning to report her to Damien and get her removed." Aura was nervous as Rosario had suggested the same thing earlier while she avoided doing anything against them.

"I don't feel good about it, Rosario. I never meant harm to anyone." She honestly expressed.

Aura ever wanted was a good relationship with Damien besides being as she is today to everyone even after her marriage. She didn't know there would be people from her own circle who would grow jealous and make it hard. She had promised herself to avoid them in future but had not known that things would be like this. She never wanted to hurt anyone.

"Firstly, I'll suggest you to be calm and don't let it get you." Rosario spoke on the other side.

He should be happy as he had told her these people needed to get out of the mansion if she wanted to breathe peacefully as the mistress of the mansion post her wedding with Damien. He had also termed that it could be bad for her baby. Because they would not think twice before slandering her with venomous words since Aura used to be one of them earlier.

And unlike her, they could not catch the Alpha's eyes. Not that it would have ever happened as feelings need to be involved too.

Alpha Damien loved Aurora which is why he brought her to his manor after her parents' demise. He was possessive of her and thus he wished to keep her closer with himself.

She was not a celebrity or anyone that shared his feelings. His goodness could have been doubted by Aurora and others as well, that's why he offered a job she could have done well as her parents provided services too.

However it was the wheel of time that cultivated similar feelings in Aurora's heart. It happened late but it did. She was meant to be with Damien, and he with her. Henceforth, there should not be envious people around them as they both were made for each other.

"Did I ever tell you how crazy Damien was for his mate?" She was snapped out of her thoughts by his voice, the topic was too interesting to not hear.

"Nope," She replied desperately. She wanted to know more of her but she never had the guts to ask Damien.

Moreover, Aurora didn't want to bring those memories back to haunt him. Thinking about another woman with Damien made her heart jump too.

"Once Damien is here, I will seek his permission and bring you to my house. I'll show you our year books and other photographs. His mate was heavenly, Aurora. When I say that, trust me, she was a woman any man would want to claim." he said. "Her death however was a shock to all of us. None of us saw Damien for roughly a month. When he came out, it was a new Damien. One that was a puppet only breathing and moving. All of us, including his friends and foes, pitied him. Then sometime later it was another Damien. One who changed girlfriends, dated crazy girls, had sx all the time with women we can't even imagine him lingering around. Since then no one ever saw the old Damien."

"And it's after many years I met the old Damien I loved to pick fights with. I was amazed when I saw you with him, Aurora. It definitely hurt me for he had seen your image set as my laptop's wallpaper. He had asked me about you once we were put together for a project. He would taunt me as if I was his wife's secret lover." That sentence got Aurora laughing.

Damien did tell her that he knew Rosario and her were friends. He never elaborated that he has done all these things too. Now that she was wondering about it, she can only laugh.

Back then, Aurora had no clue that she would ever fall for the future alpha!

"Damien probably knew there was something between us. However, I was not surprised when I learned you guys were dating." He spoke, making laughs die down completely. "Judging at how he used to taunt and mock me, I perceived there was something fishy with him. And after all these years, I get to know why!"

"Was he really so annoying?" Chuckling in excitement, she turned around to look at the bedside table. There was a picture of Damien she brought to her room from his.

There was a long pause until Rosario heaved deeply, "I bet he was. But... He really loves you, Aurora. From what I know about him, he will not entertain any envious population around you when he learns you are carrying his baby. You are more than just important in his life. More than his first mate was important to him. "
