Chapter 37 Rosario Ferrari... A friend or someone else?

Chapter 37 Rosario Ferrari... A friend or someone else?
37\. Rosario Ferrari... A friend or someone else?

Aurora's Pov

I wish I didn't come here. I wish I never entered the office building and lost myself into various thoughts.

I wish I had not met that bastard Peter, and definitely, I wish I had not bumped into Rosario.

Damien's eyes were looking at me. Only me. His posture was stiff. His hands balled up at his sides as he quietly observed me with an accusing gaze. It was a gaze darker than frozen sea, colder than winter precipitation and sterner than an eerie music.

I immediately separated myself from Rosario, stepping away from him. Rosario's back was facing Damien so he could not see the dance of exasperation in his blue eyes. But I did. And what I can see was a sour wolf glowering at his prey with hungry, angry and upset glare.

As if it was a prey he had not wanted to hunt on... But forced to.

"Gosh, I am still so shocked. I don't believe my eyes that you are here." For just a second I split my eyes from Damien and brought them on Rosario.

"I just landed in Manhattan a week ago, and was preparing to catch up with all the college mates who are still residing here. But look at you, you have come to surprise me already."

It was another thing I wished he had not said. I was afraid Damien was hearing it. Hearing each word clearly with his wolf ears.

"Rosario, I..." I opened my mouth to make him aware of Damien.

I tried to tell him that I was not here for him but for that man standing behind him. Alas, my words died in my mouth when his forefinger pressed on my lips, "Not a word, Aurora. Just listen to me speaking—"

"You listen to me speaking, Ferrari," Dragged away, I was taken into another pair of arms after Rosario was interrupted.

Damien's!

He had closed the gap between us. I didn't see him coming and now he was standing across Rosario. Tough like a warrior, sternly like a jealous husband. I should not be saying this but my eyes closed at his possessive move and my heart skipped a beat. I was flattered by his boldness. And his possessiveness... made me shiver and think about the consequences this was going to bring for me.

His right arm wrapped around my waist while the other pressed its thumb on my mouth Rosario just touched.

A muscle around Rosario's jaw ticked. The smile I was presented with suddenly died. His cheeks reddened in discomfort as he watched Damien move his thumb around my lips so as to kill the evil touch of his finger. I was not sure but the way Rosario looked down at me, I can say Damien's action was possessive.

"Hunter, do you—"

"She is my girlfriend. We are dating." Damien's voice ruthlessly said, throwing lashes of remorse on my old friend from college.

Astonishment covered every part of his face. His mouth parted as he stared at me. I can see he refused to sink that in until Damien pulled me close. Rosario's eye lashes heavily blinking as he nibbled into his lower lip.

"We are going to tie a knot of marriage very soon. You better," Damien's tone though was coolly approving paused while he beaded his further sentence. "Come when I invite you, Ferrari." and he flashed a smile.

Certainly that was not what he had wanted to say but he changed it after taking a look at my face.

"Now that we are collaborating against our common rival, I believe I can count on you as a friend. You would be the first to get the invitation for sure." Damien said softly. Mockingly.

He tried to maintain coolness, yet there was a hint of warning. Loud rumbling warning that was clear to hear.

I should not be... But my heart felt heavy. Rosario forced a smile to ease the heated situation as he looked away. That look was dull. He moved backwards, shoving his hands under his pockets as he shook his head in acknowledgement.

"Oh, that's good to hear! My classmate is an old enemy turned into a few hours old friend's girlfriend. That is great! Congrats, Aurora." I tried not to look affected when Rosario said that.

His disappointment was not neglected, regardless of his cool composure he developed again.

His expression sent shock waves through my system, his voice set so low and deep that the words vibrated through me, and his eyes lit with an intensity that left me breathless.

I just wanted to get out of this over heated conversation and equally tensing situation. Hence, I tugged on Damien's collar making him look at me.

"I don't feel good. Please take me home." I requested batting my lashes.

I just wanted to throw out. Better, I fancied my bed and its warmth. Madam Martha and her comforting presence. I wanted everything but this moment.

I was feeling morning sickness but Damien was important to me. His wounds mattered which is why I came here. Sadly, I was not aware that I was going to meet someone I had never predicted to meet after all these years. Least had I knew that I was going to become a part of an awkward conversation so much as regretting and upsetting.

Regretting because Damien saw me hugging someone else. Upsetting because that someone else got to know about my relationship status when he was least expecting to hear it.

"You worry me, Aura." Damien's lips pressed on my forehead and I closed my eyes at his touch.

The energy I lost during this heated conversation was coming back to me. But still that complaining gaze from Rosario was draining it all over again.

"You live together?" Rosario's voice broke our trance.

Damien and I looked away, as we together noticed the way he made that query. He asked those questions, spacing each word evenly.

"In my mansion." Damien answered along with an up and down nod of his skull, pulling me close to him.

I only avoided looking at Rosario while he nodded his head over Damien's response. I pressed my head against his chest and flung my arms around his waist for my head was coiling crazily.

"Please, let's just get back home." I literally pleaded.

Had Damien not moved promptly after my announcement, I would have surely burst into tears. There were two reasons for my crying. MAYBE THREE!

One was Damien. Second was his reaction that I was going to get after we got off from here. And third was.... I was afraid I did not want to think of it while I knew that the first two were more stressful ones.

I was certain there was a lot of explaining to do. And it was not going to be easy at all.

"Okay then Ferrari, see you soon."

"On a Dinner? Soon."

"Why not, if you insist."

After I was escorted under his car, Damien stood outside the door sharing the last few words with Rosario before he settled next to me.

Relief washed over me when the car started and we left the territory of Rosario's property. Although his glimpse in the rear view faded away once we finally got out on the roads, I felt tremors all around my body.

"Damien," No sooner had we crossed several miles than I took his hand— all set to clear any misunderstanding he might have generated over my hug with Rosario. "Trust me it's not what you think—"

I would have finished my explanation right in one go if he had not squeezed his fingers on mine that I was holding.

My stomach clenched tightly and fragile control almost snapped out when he dangerously ground that statement out between his tightened jaw, "Not now, Aura. Please, not now." Without looking at me but outside the window, concealing his dark red eyes and grave expressions.

Oh, moon goddess, let it not ruin my life. Please. Or else, I will be doomed.
