"Damien? Oh my god, what's this?" Tears brimmed Aura's tired eyes as she watched Damien in his bed with some doctors around him.
She sat down at the edge of his side taking his hand. He only looked behind her at Madam Martha encapsulating my palm into his big one.
"Had I not told you to maintain quiet, Miss. Martha? You woke her." her heart throbbed at his weak tone.
He cast a gaze at Madam Martha with a sigh assuming that she told Aura about this. But she didn't.
She was in her room resting in bed when the distinct noise of rushing footsteps faltered her partial sleep. One can say it was her strong instincts that pulled her out of the comfort of soft blankets and urged her to peek out of her room. Aura then observed a bunch of her co-workers gathered at his door.
His room is not too far from hers so the noise coming from his chamber was clearly audible to her. When she sided the ones crowding at his door to look inside, her heart melted and eyes widened. He was laying shirtless in bed with a punctured hole in his shoulder that was being gauzed. He was injured.
"It's nothing, Aura. I am okay." His thumb caressed the back of her hand as the doctors worked on tending the red circumference around his wounded joint.
Aura shook my head in a no, unconvinced. She can see he was in pain. He attempted to smile but she could look through it, at the painful turmoil he was feeling. At the sea of simmering tempest rising in his chest, increasing his discomfort.
"How did this happen?" His shoulders, a yard wide and molded bronze, quaked whenever the pad of cotton dipped in medicine swept around his wound during cleaning.
Despite all this he forced a smile, "I am fine, love. Just go and rest. When you open your eyes tomorrow, you'll find me by your side."
Still she refused to go. How can she go when a lot of stained and used cotton was laying at the bedside soaked in his blood? He not just bled but also looked disturbed.
Something perturbing had transpired, and she was certain she would not leave him with that feeling alone.
Throwing a glance outside the huge door-to-ceiling long window towards the left, Aura stared at the night sky glowing with twinkling stars.
Night has given its appearance, and she was only feeling crazy at herself. Don't know since how long he had been bleeding but she was soundly sleeping without having any idea.
"Just tell me what happened?" She held his hand tighter. "Is it done by the same people who hurt Brian?" Aura wished he disagreed with her guessing but his silence confirmed her fears.
My head spun. She felt dizzy but there was no way she was going to let him stay alone at this moment. He was trying to show he was okay, she was not blind though.
"Aurora, let's go to your room, dear. We will talk once Alpha is tended completely." Madam Martha grabbed her shoulders, Aura wouldn't budge though.
She sided her hands away and sat next to Damien. Closer to him. So close that the doctors lifted their eyes for a second to stare at her before they went back to doing their job again.
Her eyes watered beside her sobbing as she preferred to linger there. She didn't care about her co-workers or their strange weird stares. Sooner or later they were going to know it. Her absence from the mansion a few days back might have given birth to many gossips too.
Her return had petrified them all given that she drove in the car that was sent for alpha. She was willing to tell them all, who were like a family to her, but now she least bothered.
She sat there sobbing silently until the doctors finished treating him. After injecting some medicines in his arm, they took their leave.
Madam Martha also exited along with the servants, leaving alpha Damien with his querida in solitary.
After some minutes ticked by, Aura looked up at her alpha darling with accusing eyes. Next, she was in his arms, crushing him under her petite frame.
"It was a petty conflict, love. I am absolutely fine." Whispering into her ear, Damien shut his eyelids as her weight was impacting his shoulder.
He remained quiet though, caressing her hair.
"Absolutely fine?" She moved away, now sitting on his stomach. "Look at your shoulder... It's inflated and sensitive."
He didn't answer her back, just feeling her close to him. The medicine was working on him. He was slowly falling asleep.
Aurora slipped down on the mattress from his stomach, realizing her position. She bit her tongue as reality struck her. She was sitting on him foolishly forgetting his condition.
Her finger rubbed around his shoulder and abs in order to lessen any pain she might have stressed on him during the hug.
She pouted and leaned forward. Her lips met with his heated forehead as she planted a soft kiss, sending him to a peaceful place. Her fingers went around his jaw taking him in her embrace, providing him much needed consolation. It made him shift on his side and hide his skull in her chest.
Life was so greedily unpredictable. It did not bless him with the love of his parents, but it was providing him with ceaseless comfort of the woman he loved.
"Aura," Damien respected life in spite of whatever it bestowed on him.
"I am listening." She acknowledged his sleepy voice while her tender fingers massaged his scalp.
"I can endure hundreds of such wounds and bastards like Rosario Ferrari... If you are there by my side. I love you so much." The smile in her eyes died as she processed the name in her head while Damien drifted off to sleep in her arms, leaving her with a topic to stress on.
'Rosario Ferrari— I-is it the same Rosario Ferrari I've know fr-from college?' Aura wondered.
Tbc…
