Chapter 98 Hate Louder Than Truth
Chapter 98
Hate Louder Than Truth.
Lyra's POV.
Set free?” I quietly murmured to myself from where I stood and watched.
The noise grew louder.
Order!” the guard bellowed.
The mop in my hand suddenly slipped from my hand from where I stood to clean the window. It fell to the ground. It didn't make enough noise to draw the attention of everyone because their noise from the hall was big enough to eat it up.
Like I was daydreaming, and even if I was someone should please wake me up.
I straightened up, dropped what I was doing , and saw the reality that was about to take place right in front of me.
No… no … this can't be possible.
I knew Jax wouldn't do that, he loved me, sorry he loved Mila. He would always protect her interest especially when the real culprits are coming out to confess their sins.
“What do you mean Osmund?” Jax asked, returning his gaze to him.
“Everyone knew Mila was cursed.”
Yes…” one voice erupted back.
Another young he-wolf added, “ you are speaking our mind. You are speaking all the pack members' minds . May Asheteroth, the moon goddess protect you and bless your seed. Mila is indeed a cursed seed.”
My breath seized. I couldn't breathe. My legs ached to the point that it couldn't move.
I had thought and hoped that some pack members were good. Stormfang members loved Mila. She sacrificed everything for them.
Her time. Her peace. Her all.
What could have happened for her to be hated this much.
Mila never knew she was leaving in the midst of animals. I mean beast of no gender.
My eyes widened apart. My tongue suddenly dried up. My legs almost stopped me from standing, because I could not explain where all the energy had disappeared to.
My honor, everyone knew Mila was cursed, she did a lot of bad things to us in this village, let leave Sabrina's confession one side,”
He paused a bit, I watched how the idiot bellowed out hate from his mouth.
He didn't stop there, he continued. “What about the news that he poisoned the pack water? The only river that gives us life and sustains us in this pack. Mila went on and poisoned it.”
So are we going to disregard that and pretend that Mila was not also guilty of that.
My lord, I am not ashamed to say that mila exposed us to the wrath of the gods, she let the gods break our weak bones into pieces.
Mila is cursed,” a voice from the crowd interrupted.
My lord,” Osmund, uttered, I think we should make Mila issues a thing of the past in this pack. She has done more damage than good to every inhabitant of this pack.”
My lord he is right!” One voice countered. Mila should be a thing of the past, she had done more harm than good to this pack. I would admonish that you should let Sabrina go back home. And if the gods still want to deal with her, it is their choice.”
Never!” Jax countered. That would never happen again!”
Jax fumed, he increased his grip around his sceptre like a destructive weapon. He pointed to the little crowd that gathered in front of him.
I wouldn't ever fall for these gimmicks again,” he said, " it's obvious that you pack members' decision making is shallow and you wouldn't push me to commit against the gods anymore."
Thick noise erupted. Everyone started talking at once. Angry voices. Disappointed voices. Confused voices all mixed together.
"I don't care if you hate Mila!" Jax shouted over them. "I don't care if you're bitter! But…"
He turned around. He looked down at Sabrina on the floor. She was still crying. Still groaning. Her body shook with sobs.
"With the evidence she gave," Jax said slowly, "I will not give her freedom."
The crowd's voices grew louder. Anger rippled through them like wind through grass. Disappointment hung on their faces. Heavy. Dark. Like storm clouds.
Jax pointed at one of the guards standing nearby. "Go. Lock her up. Her fate will be decided in three days."
I picked up my bucket with soapy water and mopped and matched out of the palace in intense anger.
No one at this moment would call and I would respond.
Not even Rosa . Not even alpha Jax. I detest everyone.
My feet hit the floor hard. Slap. Slap. Slap. I walked faster down the hallway and a few minutes later, I grabbed the door and yanked the door opened
I shut the door behind.
The door had hardly closed behind me when it happened.
BOOM!
A massive blast shook everything. The floor moved under my feet. The walls rattled. The windows shook in their frames.
It felt like the earth itself was breaking apart. Like the ground was cracking open. A tremor. An
earthquake.
Ahhh!!!!” Scream erupted from some else, probably in the palace.
Distance pandemonium follows.
