Chapter 78 Deadly Errand
Chapter 78
Rosa's POV
“Freya…!” I called out. My voice below whispers.
She stood still at the reception like a statue. like she was here to break bad news.
I called her name out again.
“Freya!”
I looked behind to see if Caramel was following me for the last time.
I had increased my steps. If probably caramel was following me, there would be a large gap between us, quickly grab caramel and drag to a corner.
“Who is Freya?” Caramel had earlier asked when we got into my quarters.
I had laughed off, telling her that I am engaging in something shady.
Like some dirty deals involving rogues and pirates who way-lay and steal traders' commodities and sell them at cheaper prices to potential buyers.
And if things go south, Alpha Jax's name would be big enough to protect me. I would only buy and sell expensive jewelry to elders and elites in the pack and beyond.
“That's a brilliant idea,” Caramel had added, " I might be interested."
I shook my head and told her that they only want one face to meet. Just mine. No third party. If she should show up, the deal would fall off.
Their representative would go and inform them that I brought you in as a third party.
Caramel had taken it in a hook and sinker. Good.
Freya!”
I had called her out for the last time. Signaling from distance. She turned. Her eyes found mine.
This time she saw me. She walked slowly and carefully like a prey trespassing on a predator's territory.
My Luna…” I quickly clipped her lips together with my long fingers. Her voice died under my touch.
“Sh… don't you have a brain,” I warned, my eyes swept everywhere if someone might be listening.
“I am so sorry my Luna,” she replied.
I walked her down the hallway from the reception stand. Before I dragged her to a corner.
“What do you have for me?” I pressed her to the wall, leaning slightly on her. Her eyes bored into mine. The exhale from my nostrils plastered on her face.
Fear engulfed her. It was obvious that she had not done this before, and that makes her a good asset.
Relax.” I instructed. Breath-in. Breath out.
She did that twice.
I…I..” her voice shook.
I said calm down Freya,
She nodded her head.
And paused a bit before she continued, I…I.. finally lay my hands on the paper bag.”
I breathed out.
“Good of you…” I said,
“What did you do with it? You burnt it or disposed it.”
“I disposed it into the lagoon on my way here.”
“What?” I snapped, “ you throw an evidence into the lagoon? Do you think you know what you are doing?”
Freya hand flew up. “I swear no one saw me and secondly, I wrapped it up properly in a jute bag.”
I quickly drifted to her, my forefinger pointed to her face, “Next time you don't throw such incriminating evidence into the lagoon. Understand!”
She quickly nodded her head, “I promise that won't happen again.”
“Good.”
“Any idea who might have done this…”
She quickly interrupted, “ The front door wolf."
"That bastard…" I cursed, gritting my teeth and balling my hand into a fist, “I knew it… it couldn't be no one except him… even the way he challenged me the last time I was there. I knew that idiot never liked me for a minute…”
Was he recently employed?”
Freya quickly nodded, roughly three months ago.”
“Oh! I can see that why he is bitting more than he can chew, but you’ve done a great job," I patted her, on her left fluffy cheek.
“But you have one more job to do now,”
“What could that be?” Freya quickly replied, fondling her fingers.
“You have got to eliminate that bastard!”
What?" her hand bag dropped from her hand and hit the floor the sound spread across the tight space we hid. Her eyes widened, as she threw up her hand to cover her mouth.
Murder? No… No I can't do that…” she nodded her head. “I will be caught and I will spend the rest of my life…”
I cut-in, squeezing her up her wrist, not to break her bone but to hurt to her, “You don't tell me that… you don't make decisions here… I do and you obediently follow…because I own you and you have no choice.”
Her eyes welled up with tears. “I will go to jail…”
“Shut up and listen to me!” I snapped. "Next time you tell me your price and anything you need for the operation to be successful. That is how things are done here!”
“So you don't have any options, go in there and eliminate that bastard,”
I paused a bit, bitting my finger tip, " I am thinking of someone I can send Nevaris to, a poison that would make your work easier.”
Then two maids walked by. They paid homage. I relaxed the tension between me and Freya. Faking a smile and pretending I was having a casual talk with an omega.
Immediately they disappeared from my presence.
I dug my hand into my purse. “Take this! We are spending too much time here!”
She marvelled, throwing her hand once again over her mouth. A smile tugged at the edge of her lips. She picked her bag and dug the money there.
“Go and eliminate that bastard!” I commanded my voice below whispers. Either you will poison him, shoot him dead or do something to get rid of that bastard. Just do it…”
And lastly, before you leave, this will be your last time coming here… we meet at a place called Fringes spot,, a popular ale spot on the road to the market square…”
"Any other news for me again?”
“Hmmnn… nothing…” Freya beamed, her eyelashes fluttered.
“yes,” She beamed like she had struck a gold bag, " I… I overheard the boss commanding Duck to drop some cash into separate places last night.
“So how does that affect me?” I asked, wrinkling my face.
“Truly speaking I heard them,” Freya uttered, " though I eavesdropped on the conversation.”
“How does that still affect me in anyway, Freya?” I checked my watch, my time running out, I looked left and right. I knew caramel would be looking for me or asking palace servant
“I think it might affect you.” She paused, " because someone saw you on your last operation and that wolf is trying to take advantage of the situation to implicate you… and the boss.”
My stomach dropped. Tiny beads of sweat gathered on my forehead. The air suddenly felt damp on my skin.
A name slipped from lips.
Ravenna!”
