Ryder's POV
“What did you mean?” I turned to her, “I know that you know me and I also know you very well from stormfang pack.”
My stomach dropped.
Madam Ravenna looked through the door . She saw that no one was coming in.
Then she reduces her voice to whisper.
“I saw something strange last night…” she said quietly, “though it just came into my mind now… I should have informed the pack detective.”
“What is that and don't put me in a limbo and remember this my Luna and my heir we are talking about here…”
“I know my lord, I saw something strange last night?”
She paused a bit, and I suspect that would lead us to the killer of Lady Astra ....”
“Killer of lady Astra?”
“What is that? I think it would be better for you to come out quickly now, because the pack detective has not yet gone far…”
She shook her head, “please listen first.”
I folded my arms, “ok, speak I am all ears.”
“Yesterday, I was returning from the night market lady Astra sent me to. I was chosen because I was one of the few maids, skilled at bargaining prices and the others were busy preparing and arranging things for the upcoming events.”
I replied, sounding impatient.“So? What happened?”
“I saw Luna Rosa rough, her hair disheveled, her cloth torn.”
I wasn't buying that. I stepped closer to her, held her hand tight, and perceived her lips…
She looked at me strangely and spat, “You think I am drunk? While at work?”
Madam Ravenna smiled bitterly.
“That didn't move me. I let out a demonic hiss and looked at her disgustingly from her head, down to her toes, left her presence, and walked to the door.”
I was at the door steps, about to step out.
“I swear by the goddess… I saw her in this house uniform… I didn't wear mine because I was going to the market…”
Like that wasn't enough, she dropped another bombshell.
“I called her… she stopped … I…”
I spinned around and spat ,“That's enough! You didn't see her, you only saw a ghost, you were hallucinating!”
Madam Ravenna's eyes widened up, “I can't lie to you Alpha Ryder…”
Then footsteps were approaching. I paused . We both paused… until the echoes of the footsteps diminished and passed us by.
Then she resumed, her eyes lingered on my face.
“I saw Luna Rosa in this house maid uniform…” Her lips trembled, I looked at those lips with horror, "
My stomach twisted.
"Shut up you lying bastard!" I growled. “ I thought you would know better at your age to stop spreading filthy lies!”
“I am not lying? What am I to gain from that? I should have said that in front of the pack detective but I think your consent is needed.”
“Enough!” I stepped closer, " I am not part of the wolves you can brainwash with your lies.”
“Because how do you want me to believe that,” I paused a bit, drawing breath, moving closer to her, the same girl you were lying on was right there in my house at that moment of the day warming my bed…
I know it would be difficult for you to believe me…
“Quiet!” I clapped back…and this would be the last warning that I would give you to stop interrupting me again?”
“So back to my deliberation, as Rosa turned to a ghost that disappeared wherever she liked because at that time …” The words hung in my mouth. I didn't know what else to say.

“Ravenna…Madam Ravenna…”

I raised my hand up without thinking.
“If you do that,” she said calmly, " it will be the greatest mistake of your life.”
My hand froze in the air. My mouth parted.
“don't think this is a stormfang pack where you and your father's wickedness had brought the pack to its knees.”
My heart paused a bit.
“…where you and your father control even the breath of everyone's breath … I will go ahead and inform the king how your relationship with Rosa had led to the death of his daughter.”
The room seems to shrink. Everything in it heated up.
“Let see if hell will not break loose… let see if you will not be banished and the relationship between the king and your wicked father will not be damaged.”
Then finally spoke. But this time calmly,“Do you realize for a minute that you are talking to a beta?”
i couldn't explain that confidence that had engulfed her, it was like she had prepared herself for a day like this.
Madam Ravenna looked at me as if I am a weak omega, “Beta my foot,” she spat, "your beta ends at stormfang pack not here.”
I shuddered. My eyes denied me of the embarrassment I had exposed myself to.
“And if you think… this secret would be kept as a secret and not be heard by another wolf that would unravel the mystery behind the death of Luna Astra, then you must be joking!”
“i think you will have to excuse before those pack police leave.”
Are you trying to blackmail me?” I dragged her closer to me. My fingers dug in her skin.
“Blackmail?” Madam Ravenna let out a wicked smile,” when innocent life is lost? Apart from that, when will the same innocent life be good to me? one of the kindest luna I ever walked with, unlike Rosa, dismissed without paying me off not only me but two of the girls.”
She paused a bit, “...and I will watch those that to led to her death walk freely and most importantly When my life is no more safe because it involve alpha Vexhood's son one of the most
wicked diviner and chief priest I have ever known who could disappear into my room and kill me in my sleep.”
Snapped her hand from mine and left the room.
