Chapter 34 Secret Under fire

Chapter 34 Secret Under fire
Chapter 34

Jax's POV.

Then I heard Rosa's footsteps entering the room.

I quickly shoved the gun into my pocket, grateful it was large enough to hide the weapon completely from the eyes of the world.

The maid's eyes too went wide. She quickly understood what was going on. Her left palm wrapped tight around the tiny bottle. She completely hid it.

“Can someone explain to me what is going on here?” Rose’s voice was sharp, laced with suspicion, permeating every corner of the dining room.

Rosa stood still at a point in the middle of the room, she looked left, right and center.
Her gown swished in between her straight legs. Something seems off.

She looked at the poor maid's face, who had bent low to greet her. Rosa didn't respond to her homage. Her face hardened.

The maid kept her head buried down. Her shoulder shook just a tiny bit. She turned to me staring into my face as if that very answer she was searching for was written all over it.

Rosa's head snapped towards the maid. Her fingers pointed like she meant business. Like she had been waiting for this moment. “... And you, what are you doing here…” Those words came out rough and hard like stones being pelted against offenders who had violated pack rules, “don't you have any meaningful things to do other than standing there…”

“I…i’m so … sorry your honor,” She managed to speak. Trying to drag her feet from Rosa's presence.

Then I snapped.

“Wait.” The words erupted from my lips.

Rosa turned to me. Shocked. She shuddered. Her brow raised.

“Can't my maid serve me again in my own house?” I parted my arms in the air with annoyance. “Since you failed to perform your role as a luna in this house!”

I kept going. Like I had been waiting for this moment all my life. The words pour like water from a broken plastic barrel. “ At least, if not for anything, you could check what they are doing in the kitchen for once! Just for once since you stepped into this house as my Luna. So don't blame her for being diligent?”

The word hit her like a heavy blow launched to her ribcage. She blinked fast like she had seen a ghost. The body swayed back just an inch.

“Being diligent?” she repeated. Her voice, quiet. Her initial venomous display towards had evaporated into the wind.

“Yes,” I fired back, “being fucking diligent,”

The cursed words hung through the air. Everything in the room went quiet for a moment. Even the air breathed.

“Ok, good that is great then, I am not here for that this afternoon. I forgot one of my items,”

She paused a bit looking everywhere in the house, "have checked everywhere, I couldn't find it. I am sure it should be found in your room or anywhere in this quarter. Because the last time I used it was the last time I came to your room.”

She didn't wait for my response; she walked out of my presence heading over to my room.

Thankfully, I never wanted to respond, I just wanted her to leave for me to attend what is in front of me, which is going to meet Kubra. Just pray he had not escaped.

I will make sure everyone of them meets their death in a gruesome way , far more than anything that has never been experienced in this pack.

I asked the maid in front of me who had stood up and folded her hands to step out of the room. I will meet her on the way, I don't want to follow her out of the room, I would rather meet her along the way. The distance of the king's quarters to the servant quarters is long. I will meet on the way.

Then young maid stepped out of the house, when a thought hit me,

Rosa? What did she misplace that she was looking for in the bedroom? My bedroom? Of all rooms? She didn't see her in the living room? Or lounge? But my bedroom? When was the last time we even sat down to talk?

Let me go check what she is up to.”

I had moved three steps forward, when I suddenly stopped.

“No, I will come for this later. Let me meet up with this maid. I want to know what made Kubra to perform such an act of treason against my throne
and the force to name every wicked element behind this act.”

I stepped out of the quarters.
