Chapter 55
Twenty miles south of BlackStone Territory.
The camp was large. A couple hundred wolves at the least set up in camouflage group tents scattered around a larger, central tent that served as the command center for the rogue unit. Just under half of the force was ready to go for an attack they had been planning for weeks. Within the command tent, men stood around a table, looking at a map of the mountains they were going to have to navigate to get to BlackStone. It was the first of several planned larger strikes against the Blacks in the name of their King and Alpha.
They had been just scouting the strength of the pack for years. Testing weaknesses and defenses. Learning how the pack worked. It was well known BlackStone was now one of the most affluent and largest packs in the united states. Only to be rivaled by the Angeles Pack in California and the Kinsman Pack in the deep south. If they could get control of one of these packs, their own would be unstoppable. They would be able to amass an army and take out the remaining two large packs and then all wolves would become one pack. All wolves would bend to one Alpha.
That was the end goal of it all anyways. First they had to pull this off. They had heard several months ago that the young alpha of BlackStone had found a mate. A rumor that spread quickly, that the pup had kept her locked inside of his prison. The rumor spread further to say his mate was a legendary white wolf. They had two eye witness accounts that were both, unfortunately dead now. Then they had their spy who had sent in pictures and video of the white wolf in action. The most recent however was the transmission they received in the morning. Their trail camera was triggered by the trip wire being snapped and the evidence was right there, the white wolf running past.
“Its a three hour run sir. If we leave within an hour we can get there by nightfall. We get in and we hit the easy targets. Take out what we can and then pull back. If we hit them hard and cause enough chaos…”
“No.” Jennifer said as she strolled into the tent, overhearing one of the men speaking to the captain. She looked a little worse for wear but at least she was still alive. She fled the BlackStone lands after shooting the Alpha and lived to tell about it. “Hello handsome.” She said sweetly with a smile as she approached the tall male that was the leader of this troop. Jennifer leaned up on tip toe and kissed the wolf hungrily for a few seconds before she gaze up at him when she pulled away. “James Black is dead.” She announced confidently before stepping away to go stretch out on a make shift sofa.
Every last wolf in the room went silent, staring at the she-wolf who had made herself at home. “Are you sure of this?” the Captain asked, watching her as she got comfortable. “One hundred percent sure?”
“Of course I'm sure. I shot him and watched him bleed out.” Jennifer said, sounding as if she was offended the man doubted her. She had been spying for the the Blood Born rogue pack for almost seven years now. She had been captured when her family was out on picnic, her parents killed in front of her and she became Nash, the Captain’s prisoner and plaything. It was only natural for them to send her right back into the pack when she promised to do anything for them to stay alive. Even if it meant trying to become Luna to take out the Blacks.
Nash eyed Jennifer as he was trying to decide if he was going to trust her word or not. “We got the white wolf on the trail camera you set up. There wasn't anyone with her, so the Intel is promising.” He said and leaned back from the table, crossing his arms while in thought. “If the Alpha is dead, we should move now. We wont need the whole camp. They will be out of Their minds with grief from the pack link being broken and any attack will just bring on Chaos. This could be it… the chance we have been looking for.” He said confidently and leaned over the map again, giving out the directions on where his men were meant to go and where they would come in attacking.

There was absolutely no trace of Jennifer in the territory. She had completely vanished without scent or track that even the packs best trackers could not find. James had looked for hours with his men for her until Alaric practically hauled him to the doctors. He sat for another hour while the doctor cleaned the wound and removed the affected flesh from the silver so he could actually heal.
Alaric had been frowning at James the entire time they were in the little hospital room, his shoulders dropping in relief when the doctor got him fixed up enough the alpha’s body quickly healed itself. “Are you stupid?” Alaric hissed at James once the doctor left the room. “You almost lost your life today James. That bullet… any one of them would have killed you. Or the Luna.”
James looked at Alaric when his beta and best friend began to harp on him for what could have happened. “I am very well aware of what happened Alaric. Of what could have happened and what didn't happen.” He said in a cool tone while getting off the exam table. “I also know, that Cassidy was not hurt and I only got a graze from the bullet.” James stood face to face with his Beta and returned the scowl Alaric was giving him. “I get that you don't have a mate or even any kind of love interest in your life… But I cant keep her locked away in the pack house. I might as well put her back in the prison then. We were out for a run and a swim. Jennifer has found a way to mask her scent and we didn't even know she was there Alaric.”
The Beta’s scowl deepened and his eyes went cold for a minute when James reminded him of his lack of relationships in his life. He wanted to shake some sense into James for stressing him out, but the Alpha was right. They couldn't lock Cassidy up and keep her captive. She was not only the packs Luna, but also his best friends mate. Alaric narrowed his eyes and sighed, gripping James by the arms before pulling him in for a brief brotherly hug. “Dont get shot again. You will give me gray hair.” He grumbled and headed for the door, opening it for James.
The pair left the room, James grinning and about to tease Alaric about the both of them not being old enough in their mid twenties to even think of gray hair yet when he ran into his Beta’s back who had stopped moving. “Alaric what the hell-” he had started but quickly noticed what had stopped the man from moving.
Cassidy stood in the hallway, arms crossed and a very displeased expression on her face as her foot tapped impatiently on the floor. What was worse, his mother was right behind her with her hands on her hips with a look that made both the Alpha and the Beta take a step back.
“WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!”
