Chapter 24
ISABELLA
Music, the clear sky and Asher. I could have stayed there for hours in his company. He went into a bit more detail about what they actually do for a living and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. They're all pretty young and they've managed to build an empire.
I took the time to really look at him, the way he spoke and held himself.
He's very charismatic without trying to be, and he exudes self-confidence. When he rolled up his shirt sleeves to his elbows, I thought I'd fainted. He's so muscular, right down to his hands. It's one of the things these three brothers have in common. They have very muscular hands and forearms, and it's very sexy.
"Well then, if you have nothing else to add, we look forward to your first suggestions next Friday." A prospect I have an appointment with this morning stares at me. I feel like he can literally read my mind and I feel terribly ashamed.
"Next Friday. It'll be done." I reply, feigning confidence. Well, I'm not in trouble. I spent half the appointment rehashing last night and I don't even know what they want from me.
After some final greetings and instructions, which I listen to attentively this time, he accompanies me to the elevator where I join the lobby. I step out into the street and immediately regret my choice of clothes and especially my shoes. Why did I decide to wear this damn pantsuit and these high heels? I take my phone out of my bag and notice a message from Alex to warn me that he's had an unexpected order and has to lock himself in to paint. Although I'm delighted for him, I'm a little disappointed because I was looking forward to telling him all about it and I need a coffee. As I walk down the street in search of a café, I nearly run into a guy in a suit, who doesn't even have the decency to apologize. As I inwardly sneer at the jerk, I look up and notice the name on the glass doors. Well, if I'd wanted to do it on purpose, I couldn't have done it. I find myself in front of the Black brothers' building.
Can I just go up and say hey guys, I was passing by and thought you might have time to have a coffee with me. I weigh the pros and cons for a few moments and the new Isa decides that I can try to see them and too bad if I get turned down. After all, shame never killed anyone... right?
I walk through the doors and head for the young woman at reception.
"Good afternoon. May I help you?"
"I would have liked to see Asher, Knox or Jax if any of them were available or all three?" She looks at me as if I've grown a second head next to mine. "Mr. Black, I mean."
"One of them or all three. You are?"
"Isabella Moretti." I reply and already regret being here. They're fucking company directors, they certainly won't have time to...
"Top floor. Mr. Black will be waiting for you at the elevator exit." She interrupts my thoughts with her icy tone.
I nod and turns to head for the elevators without being able to contain my smile.
In the elevator, I watch the floors go by and I don't know which of them will be waiting for me at the door. She didn't mention the first name of the Mister Black who would be waiting for me. The closer I get to the top floor, the more my nervousness gives way to excitement. The more time I spend with them, the closer I get to them, and the more the idea of a ménage à quatre doesn't seem such a bad idea. I can hear Alex screaming from here if he could hear my thoughts.
The doors open and I have the answer to the question I've been asking myself.
Three guys straight out of a fashion magazine are waiting for me at the doors. In suits, they're even more handsome. Asher wears a black suit with a white shirt, Jax a gray suit but he's dropped the jacket and finally, Knox wears blue suit pants with a white shirt turned up to the elbow, revealing his tattoos.
I step out of the elevator and Knox immediately hugs me, then Jax and finally Asher kisses me on the lips, as his brothers look on.
"Well I must say, this is a pleasant surprise." Jax tells me with a smile.
"I had an appointment a little further down the street and I thought I'd take a chance and see if you had time for a coffee."
"For you? We always have time." Knox says as he grabs my laptop bag. "You can come see us anytime. In fact, I encourage you to come as much as you want whether it's here or at home." He adds, placing his arm on my shoulders. He directs me to a door, and after passing a gawking assistant's desk, we enter a large office with one wall entirely glazed. There's a huge desk and a small sitting area.
"Sit down, please." Asher says, pointing to one of the small sofas. A handful of seconds later, a blond woman with legs to die for enters with four coffees. I stare at her a little longer than I'd like, and Knox, who's sitting next to me, takes notice of my ear.
"You're much, much sexier than she is. We only want you." The sound of his voice sends shivers throughout my body, right down to my panties. I open my mouth but no sound comes out. I raise my eyes to the sky and when I lower them again, I notice Ash and Jax staring at me.
I clear my throat, trying to get back to reality. "I won't be disturbing you for very long. I'm sure you've got plenty to do."
Asher clears his throat, resting his back on the back of the couch. "Here as at home, the door will always be open. One of us will always make time for you. As Knox said, I too encourage you to visit us as often as you like."
I feel a huge relief inside me. Is this what a healthy relationship looks like? Oh lord, I could really get used to this.
"Thank you." I answer simply but it's not just for Asher but for all three of them.
