Chapter 8: Good tidings
Freya’s POV
The bright morning sun had become my enemy and I wished it would disappear. As I pried open, my throbbing head seemed to get worse, as the rays seeped through the open blinds Grandma has always made a point to keep open.
I looked around my immaculate room, having no idea how I had ended up here, I tried so hard to remember the event that had occurred after I had decided to take a walk–but last night’s memory was hazy.
I had a dream, a weird one at that; I had seen a wolf, it was huge, his fur white and black, it was so hard to forget when it sparkled under the moonlight. Not only that, but I touched my neck, as I could still feel the sensation I had gotten when he had nuzzled his nose in my neck–it had felt so real, nonetheless surreal.
Gazing at the clock on my side table, I scrambled off the bed– I was late for work, an hour late.
I quickly did my morning routine heading downstairs, breakfast was already prepared. Both Oliver and Grandma eat in silence,
“Dear, come join us” she invited.
Taking a slow stride to the table, I sat across from Oliver.
“How are you feeling?” she asked, looking at me, concern evident on her face.
Perplexed by her question, “Fine?” I answered unsure, I didn’t remember ever telling her I was unwell.
“Good. You should be thankful to Oliver, he took care of you last night” she smiled.
Last night? Looking at him, he focused solely on his food. Raising his gaze to meet mine, I gasped. My brain hit the bolt, the ability to breathe was an effort to remember.
He dragged his chair back, getting up, “I am off to work” he announced, looking at me one last time. He headed out–what made him leave all of a sudden?
His eyes were the perfect shade of silver; the same one the wolf had–was it real? Or had I thought about it so much I was going insane? I had no idea, it was a question of the century for me. The thin line between reality and imagination had smudged, and I was only left with questions.
“Are werewolves real?” I blurted out, my confusion increasing with every passing second. The earlier conviction comes back stronger.
She laughed, I probably seemed crazy with the question I had asked, “Eat up and go get ready. We are going shopping” she announced, my question not dimmed fit for an answer to her.
I wandered into the giant wardrobe occupied with the little clothing I had brought, I needed to call Celine. It had been a while since we had last spoken, and I needed her to bring my clothes.
We had never gone a week without talking to each other, yet we went a whole two weeks.
Things have been hectic if I have been honest, the constant confusion revolving around Oliver seemed to drain more of me than I had intended to give.
Picking up a blue top I have come to wear numerous times, it had turned into a constant go–to–wear clothing. I began searching around for a pair of jeans or joggers to match it.
I took slow strides along the cloister between both parts of the house as I veered towards grandmother’s room, soft groans had piqued my interest, coming from Oliver’s room, I had no idea he was back. His room door was slightly ajar, his back facing me, he sat on his bed facing the other side of the room. His pants were undone, his head thrown back as moans of pleasure intensified the air–he was jerking off and I wanted so badly to be at the thought of me.
I could feel myself getting soaked at the passing second, he turned his head back looking straight at me, and I could get a clear view of his massive cock, glancing back at his face, his mouth tipped up in a smirk. I couldn’t believe he fucking smirked and why the hell was my heart beating so damn loud? I quickly beelined to her room.
“What took you so long?” the question welcomed me, and immediately I stepped foot into her room.
“Sorry, I wasn’t considering the time” Well I didn’t, I was so lost in the action I had caught Oliver doing, my thighs clenched together and did nothing in relieving the ache I felt down there.
She smiled at me like she knew something I didn't. “Let’s head out, Oliver will drive us to the mall” She stood up from her chair.
“Oliver?” I screeched, the spirit up above didn’t like me and constantly wanted to put me in a situation I would rather die than be in.
“The driver called in sick a while back, is there any problem?” she raised a brow at me.
“Not at all” I grimaced, trying to fake a smile.
“Great, Let us go” She led the way outside. A Jeep was packed in front of the building with Oliver's sitter in the driver’s seat, different from the kind he normally rode to work every day. How many cars did they own?
Pushing my body to enter after Grandma, she stopped me, “You should go sit in the front” she ordered.
“I don’t mind sitting here” I tried, going in once more.
“Nonsense, you should sit at the front with Oliver”
Feeling defeated, I walked with my head down, avoiding all eye contact that could occur with him.
The leather of the sit felt soft and comfortable, the car had a rich scent to it and distinctively smelled like Oliver.
The car was silent except for the humming of the engine as it came to life. His grip on the steering was strong, his knuckles white–the feeling was mutual, I would rather be anywhere than here with him.
I looked around the mall bursting with energy, the overly excited customers looking around every aspect of the large mall–everybody here looked sophisticated, making me stick out like a sore thumb
I stole a glance at him, his face indifferent from his basic bored expression, glancing around before losing mistreatment quickly.
“Hey, brother.” someone called, turning back to the source of the voice. The man was a bit lanky but had muscles in the right places, and a charming smile marred his face.
He stopped a few feet away from Oliver. Oliver towered over him by an inch or so.
“My Grandma, you haven’t aged a bit” he smiled, winking at her.
She laughed “Still charming as ever, Ethan. How have you been?”
“Not bad” he grinned, his perfect set of teeth on display.
“What are you doing here?” she asked curiously.
“I came here, to offer Oliver my moral support” he placed his hand around his shoulder. Looking toward me like he was trying to figure me out “Who is this stunning lady over here?” His voice was deep and had an accent I couldn’t identify–it sounded like Australia or was it British?
I think I heard Oliver mutter ‘idiot’ before shrugging his arm off his shoulders–they seemed very close.
I beamed at him, ignoring the glare Oliver sent my way “I am Freya” I stretched my hand to him for a handshake.
“I am Ethan, honored to meet a beautiful lady like you” he kissed the back of my hand. Why didn’t the butterflies in my stomach swoon at his sweet gesture but decided to go full-blown mode on Oliver's period moods?
“You said, you had something important to tell me” Oliver growled, something I didn’t know was humanly possible.
“Oh yes!”Ethan suddenly recalled. “Goodbye Freya,” he said following after a moody Oliver headed outside not before slipping me his business card.
Grandma laughed “What a character!” And headed to the clothing aisle.
“Is there a specific style you are looking for?” a lady asked politely.
“Something nice for her” she gestured at me.
“You don’t have to—”
“Oh honey, you don’t think I have noticed this is the fourth time you have worn this top in the span of two weeks?” she asked, my cheeks flushed in embarrassment glancing at the sales lady trying to hold back her laughter.
“Follow me” She led the way through a variation of clothes, blabbering on about things that stole my interest
*****
After four long hours of buying different things from every shop, she decided to call it a day. Lucky enough for us she chose for them to be delivered to the house.
Entering into the car once again but, this time Ethan sat in front with Oliver, I was glad I didn’t have to sit through that torture once more.
I aimed back into my sanctuary. Picked up my phone and called Celine, she picked up after the third ring, her overly loud voice booming through the phone speaker.
“You have been getting your punana eaten by that hot god, you have forgotten about me!” she wailed.
Peculiar of her to be so raw “You mean that moody man” I moody man “I have been so busy”
“Did something happen I should know of?”
“No, just the basic day-to-day activities” I really missed us talking, the late-night talks, and the movies. “What about you? any new conquest?”
“Oh I met this guy 3 nights ago” I could feel her sitting up “he was the best, he literally gives the best heads” she laughed.
Screwing my face in disgust “Spare me the details”
Something rattled in the background before her voice came out breathless “I have to go, Freya, love you” She disconnected the call in a hurry, leaving me to stare at my blank phone in worry.
