Gain her trust

~Betty~

After the meeting, I could hardly keep my peace. I kept pacing in my room, thinking of what to do next.

I wasn’t sure what was going to happen after Celine had poisoned Kilhan’s mind against me, but one thing I knew was that I wasn’t going to let her ruin me before I returned the favor.

In haste, I prepared to head out of the house. I wore a sweetheart dress and a sandal. This was the favorite dress of the person I was about to visit.

I had to make sure he would be happy as soon as he set his eyes on me.

After dressing up, I headed out of my room and ran into Kilhan. I clenched my jaws and breathed heavily as soon as our gazes met.

“Are you heading out?” He asked as I walked towards him.

“Does it matter? It’s not like you care, do you?” I asked, and was about to walk past him when he grabbed my wrist, making me stop.

“I do care about you, and you know that.” He responded, but I yanked my hand off his.

“If you did, you and your mate wouldn’t just sit there and accuse me of poisoning your mother. A mother that became my mother years ago.” I answered and turned to leave again.

“But we didn’t say you did it. We were just asking questions.” He responded, causing anger to well up from inside me.

“I am not stupid, Kilhan. Neither is everyone else in the pack. We clearly understood what you two meant, and you can’t deny it, okay?” I answered with a frown.

“I’m sorry, okay? We just wanted to make sure…”

“Now that you’re sure, you can let me leave now. It’s not like you love me being around anymore.” I butted in, and this time, he went silent.

I shook my head in disappointment and stormed out of his sight. At this point, I hated him too. He would never have a mind of his own with Celine around him.

I got out of the house, stopped a cab, and gave him the location I was headed. Throughout our ride, I kept thinking about Kilhan and how I could barely recognize him anymore.

‘He isn’t the man I used to know, and that is so bad for him because I can’t love the person he is anymore.’

I climbed up the stairs and walked to room 42. I knocked on the door and took two steps backward, waiting for him to open up.

Just like I expected, I didn’t have to knock twice before he opened up. As soon as he saw me, a wide smile flashed through his face and he opened his arms to embrace me.

“Who would have thought I’d be seeing you today.” He muttered as he wrapped his arms around me.

I let out a smile and embraced him too, resting my head on his shoulder.

“I didn’t know I’d be coming here this soon too,” I answered, and he disengaged from the hug.

“Come on in. I can’t wait to get that dress off your body.” He whispered in my ear as he pulled me into his apartment.

I chuckled softly as I watched him shut the door behind us. He rushed up to me and grabbed me by the waist, turned me around, and began to grind his groin against my lower back.

“Not so soon, your royal hardness,” I uttered with a chuckle, slowly getting his hands off me. I turned to look at him, and I saw he had furrowed his eyebrows.

“What’s wrong?” He asked, after noticing the look on my face.

“I did something stupid. Something out of impulse.” I uttered, and he raised one of his brows as he listened.

“What did you do, Betty?” He asked, and I heaved a loud sigh.

“I woke Anna up. I gave her the antidote.”

“What?! Betty, why would you do that without telling me?!” He asked in shock, and I shook my head.

“I’m sorry, okay? But as I said, I wasn’t thinking at all. When Celine returned, I knew that apart from me, Anna was the only one who hated Celine’s guts so much that she wouldn’t let her stay.

“So I believed if she was awake and she saw Celine, she’d take my side and send her out of the house,” I explained.

“And did it go as planned?” He asked, and I shook my head sadly.

“No, it didn’t. All Anna needed to see was Kendrick, and she immediately picked their side.”

“Kendrick? Who is Kendrick?” He asked with a confused expression.

“Kilhan’s son, of course. How can you not know this?” I asked in frustration.

“How can I? Do you even remember the last time you filled me in with information?”

I heaved a sigh and nodded. “That’s true, and I’m sorry. Right now, this should be the least of our worries. As we speak, Celine suspects I poisoned Anna, and Kilhan has no choice but to believe his mate.” I muttered, slamming into his bed.

“Any evidence against you?” He asked, walking to his mini bar to grab us drinks.

“Nothing yet, but that isn’t good enough. Kilhan hardly trusts me now, and it’s all Celine’s fault.” I uttered angrily, and he raised the glass of wine to my face.

“Thank you,” I said as I collected the glass from him.

“Listen, Betty. They have no evidence. That’s a good thing. Everyone thinks it was a coma…”

“Except Anna, Kilhan, and Celine. These are the people that need to buy our story. I don’t care about the others.”

“Well, you should. If you did it exactly the way I said you should, there'll never be any evidence to be used against you.”

“I did it the way you told me, okay? But I need help at this juncture. I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m the enemy in the house right now, and I want that to stop.” I mumbled, sipping my drink.

“It’s pretty simple, Betty. All you have to do is gain Celine’s trust again. Once you gain her trust, we’ll be able to strike again. This time, harder than we have ever done.” He advised.

“Can you hear yourself right now? Gain Celine’s trust?? That will never happen. We both hate our guts so much. She wouldn’t even want me five meters close to her.”

“You’ll have to figure it out. If we take any step in that house again, all fingers will be pointed at you. You have not been easy on them lately, have you?”

“Not really,” I answered with gritted teeth.

“Exactly. Now you see why you have to become a saint to her and Kilhan.” He added, and I bobbed in agreement. He spoke the bitter truth.

“Fine. I’ll try.” I responded.

“All this for a man that doesn’t want you? I still don’t know what you see in him, Betty. I mean, I am better than him in every way.” He muttered, shrugging.

“This isn’t even about having Kilhan to myself anymore. I think I hate him now. He threw our relationship away like it meant after he met this girl. All I want now is for both of them to suffer. He took my love and care for him for granted. He can’t go scot-free after that.” I said, staring into space.

“You don’t know how happy I am to hear that, Betty.” He answered, placing his hand on my thigh. “Does this mean I get to keep you for myself??” He asked excitedly.

I let out a smile and licked my lower lips. “Well, you’re not bad either. We can consider it. What do you think?”

“What do I think? You know what I’ve always wanted, Betty. You don’t have to ask now.” He said in a low tone, leaning closer to me.

He stared uncontrollably at my lips and I intentionally bit it again.

“I want to f**k you hard right now. I can’t take it anymore.” He whispered, his lips slightly grazing mine.

“And who is stopping you?” I muttered with deep breaths.
