~Celine~
“Can you get that awful thought out of your head?? You are not getting rid of the only thing that connects you to Kilhan!” Kiara yelled.
“Why can’t I? It’s not like he wants anything to do with me anymore. Also, it’s not a baby yet. It can be easily flushed.”
“Argh! I hate you, Celine. You know, sometimes I wish I wasn’t your wolf. You are just not reasonable.” Kiara responded, and I rolled my eyes.
“Like I’ve ever liked you too. Come to think of it, what would Ethan think when he realizes that I’m with child?”
“Anything other than you getting rid of the baby for sure! Can you just let him come first? You’re making me sick!”
“No, you are making me sick, Kiara. What do you want me to do? You keep saying I have Ethan, but do I really have him? When he finds out the truth about everything, do you think he’ll still care?” I mumbled as tears heated my eyes again.
“If you hadn’t forced me to be with Kilhan and bond with him that night, maybe none of this would have happened,” I added.
“Oh, there we go again. Always looking for someone to blame. I want to smack your face so hard right now! You should be glad I’m your wolf!” Kiara spat back in anger.
I heaved a sigh and shut my eyes, throwing my head back in frustration, I apologized.
“I’m sorry. I’m just very confused. My Ex is on his way here, Marcus and my father are on the hunt for me, and Kilhan would probably end up chasing after me so he can fulfill the promise he made to himself, his mother, and his late father.”
“And you are the strongest woman I know, Celine. Even though you’re super stubborn and never listen, I know you can do this. We can do this. I know you don’t know what to do, but please don’t get rid of the baby, okay? You’d regret it later if you do.” Kiara answered in a calm voice, which made me furrow my brows.
She hasn’t spoken so calmly in ages!
“I almost forgot you had the ability to speak so softly,” I muttered.
“Oh F**k you!” She yelled, and I chuckled softly as I slowly drifted into my sadness again.
Just then, the telephone in the room began to ring, jolting me out of my thoughts.
I hastily got up from the bed to answer it.
“Hello?”
“Hi, Miss Celine. A young man is here to see you. He says his name is…”
“Ethan.” I heard Ethan answer.
“Oh yes, Ethan. Please let him come up.” I answered and the line disconnected after.
“Oh God, Kiara! Ethan is here!” I yelled nervously, running to the mirror to see if there was anything to adjust in my appearance.
“Why are you so nervous about how you look? Are you trying to get back to him? Or fall in love with him?”
“Not now, Kiara!” I mumbled as I heard footsteps approaching my door. I gulped hard as I moved closer to the door so I could open up as soon as he knocked.
“Celine?” I heard him call as his knock came on the door.
With my heart beating very hard, I went ahead to open the door. Upon seeing him, a wide smile lit up his face and he threw his hands around me.
“Oh, Goddess! Thank the Moons you’re alive! Gosh, I was so scared. I thought you were on the verge of death!” He uttered, tightening his grip around me.
His enchanting cologne filled my nostrils as I struggled to breathe because of how hard he embraced me.
“I’m glad you’re here, Ethan,” I muttered and slowly disengaged from him.
He cupped my face in his hands, brushing back my hair severally. “Why did you run away without telling me? It’s been months! I almost lost hope that you’d ever reach out to me again.” Ethan uttered, and I nodded sadly.
“Let’s sit first, Ethan,” I said to him, forcing on a feeble smile. He nodded and walked to the couch in the room. He sat and made me sit next to me.
“Tell me everything. It was your father, right? He made you disappear like that.”
“Yes. You’re right. I was so done with him, and I promised myself I would never go back to his house.”
“What did he do wrong this time? Was it about us?” He inquired, and I shook my head.
“No, it wasn’t. He wanted me to get married to Alpha Marcus. I bet he still wants that.”
“What the hell? The same Alpha Marcus I know?” He asked, and I nodded. “Is your father stable? Why would he want you to marry a man that old? Did you tell him about us?” He asked, and I heaved a sigh.
“I know you didn’t. He never liked me anyway. And I don’t like him either.” Ethan added with a clenched jaw.
“I should have at least told you I was leaving, and I’m sorry I didn’t. That night I left the house, I hadn’t planned it out. I just went for it and succeeded. I also got rid of my phone as soon as I got to New York.”
“You could have at least used your new phone to reach out. I would have come to you. Why did you wait until now?”
“I waited because there were a lot of things going on. My father froze my account, so I had to work very hard to make some money to survive. I worked in a restaurant in Beacon City.”
“Wow. That must have been so tough for you. I’m glad I’m here now. You won’t have to suffer anymore.” He responded with a soft smile, cupping my face in his hand and slightly caressing my cheek.
“I know. But my father and Alpha Marcus haven’t relented, Ethan. Alpha Marcus keeps following me everywhere, waiting for the perfect time to get to me and make me his. I need you to protect me from him, Ethan. I don’t want to marry him.” I pleaded.
“Of course. I won’t let you marry him. He would never have you. Not when I’m alive. I’ll protect you with everything I have. Who would have thought he was a narcissist like your father.” He responded with a frown.
“Thank you so much, Ethan. I knew I could count on you.” I answered, feeling very happy that our conversation was going smoothly rather than disastrous.
He smiled widely and opened his arms wide. “Come to daddy. I’ve missed you so much.” He uttered. I clenched my jaws as I went in to embrace him.
I was unsure how to tell him I found my mate and was now carrying his child.
“What do I do, Kiara? It’s going to break him.” I thought fearfully as he planted lots of kisses on my head. He slowly made his way to my neck, and just when I was about to stop him, he stopped abruptly.
“What’s wrong?” I asked fearfully as I saw him stare at my neck with an intense gaze.
“Is that…” He took a pause and ran his finger through the healed skin of Alpha Kilhan’s bite.
“You are marked!” He exclaimed and sprang to his feet.
“Ethan… Ethan. I can explain. I found my mate in New York and we got together, and…” I stuttered as I feared that he was going to leave.
“We promised each other that we’d be in love forever, get married, and have kids.”
“Yes I know, Ethan,” I responded, trying to touch him, but he moved away.
“You were gone for months, but I kept waiting and expecting you to reach out to me because I am still madly in love with you! I left New Orleans at the expense of my pack and came down here happily, hoping we would be together again, and now you’re telling me you found your mate?” He ranted.
I tightened my fists as I began to search for the right words to say.
“We are not together anymore, Ethan. I swear.”
“That was why you reached out right? That didn’t work, so you decided to call me. You know what? I was stupid to think you would still be in love with me.”
In anger, he turned to leave. I was stuck to where I was, trying to find more words.
“Tell him everything!” Kiara yelled.
“I got rejected, and I’m pregnant! He doesn’t know about it!” I yelled in tears, and he took a halt, his back turned against me.
Seeing that he had stopped, I moved closer to him. “He found out I was a liar and didn’t want to have anything to do with me anymore, so he rejected me, even before I could tell him I was pregnant. I’m pregnant Ethan, and I don’t know what to do. Please don’t leave me.” I mumbled, placing my hand on my mouth as I wept.
He turned to look at me and I saw his jaws were tightly clenched.
Before he could speak, my phone vibrated in my pocket.
“Sorry,” I mumbled as I reached for it to see what made it vibrate. Pulling out my phone, I unlocked it and saw it was another message from Marcus.
‘Not again.’ I thought, clicking on the photo message he sent.
As soon as the photo loaded, my eyes popped wide open and my phone almost slipped off my hand.
“What is it?” He asked, moving close to me when he noticed terror overwhelmed me.
“He’s in the Lobby, Ethan.” I panted hard, holding onto my chest as if I was about to have a panic attack. He took my phone and looked at the picture.
“Sh*t!”
