Khan, my wolf

~Alpha Kilhan~

While I was busy with some paperwork in my office, I heard a knock on my door, followed by the voice of my bodyguard.

“Alpha Kilhan, Jarius is here to see you.” He said, and immediately, I sprang to my feet.

“Let him in,” I answered in a loud voice, abandoning everything I was doing and walking to the sitting area.

The door opened and he walked in with a large envelope in his hand. “Alpha Kilhan.” He greeted me with a slight bow.

“Jarius. I’m happy to see you again. I wasn’t expecting to see you today.” I answered, gesturing for him to the couch in front of me.

“It was never in my plan to come today, but after seeing this, I couldn’t help myself.” He responded, stretching the envelope towards me.

I collected it and immediately began to open it. “So you found out who Tima Maria is?” I asked with my eyes glued to the envelope.

“Yes, and just like I suspected, it was made up. Her real name is Ashley Grayson, she once lived in New York until the very day she left for Texas. And this day happened to be a day before she was credited by Mr Elsher, your father.”

He stopped explaining and I raised my head to look at him because as he spoke, I followed what was in the envelope.

“Why did you stop?” I furrowed my brows.

“Because the next discovery isn’t easy to say, Alpha Kilhan.” He answered, and I kept my eyes glued to his face.

“Go on. Say it. What the hell is it?” I could feel Khan, my wolf beginning to grow impatient. He gulped hard and nodded as he proceeded to talk.

“Mr Elsher was having an affair with Ashley Grayson…”

“What?!” I cut him short, my brows raised in disbelief. ‘Does he even know what he is saying?!’

“An affair?” I asked again, and he nodded.

“Yes, Alpha Kilhan. After digging deeper, I found out she reached out to your father to tell him she was pregnant about a month or two after they started dating. This was when he made that transfer to her account and asked her to leave for Texas.”

My jaw dropped as I listened to him. I couldn’t believe anything that came out of his mouth. So I went ahead to read what was in the papers and they were the same!

It consisted of the messages that Ashley Grayson sent him, telling him about the pregnancy and how he told her to get rid of it. There was also proof that he sent her the money in those texts.

“I had to retrieve his deleted emails to get access to all these, Alpha Kilhan. It is real.”

Hearing this, Khan couldn’t take it anymore. In a rage, I tossed the papers in my hands across the room.

“How could he do this to Mom? She would never do that to him! If she knows about this it’s going to break her! She cannot know about this!” I ranted, my whole body vibrating as I could hardly keep Khan in check.

He was awake and angry like never before. And when he is like this, I can hardly control him.

“Alpha Kilhan,” Jarius called, and when I turned to look at him, I saw him slowly retreating to the door in terror. “Your eyes. They… they have turned red.” He muttered, gluing his back to the door and slowly reaching for the door knob.

“What else should I know before you go?” I growled. At this point, I couldn’t recognize my own voice. Khan had almost completely taken over.

“I think your mother may have suspected. A part of the message reveals that your father had suspicions that his wife was aware because of his constant travels like never before.” Jarius uttered, refusing to leave the door.

‘Mom suspected? Why the hell didn’t she say anything!’ I yelled in my head.

“I want to know everything about Ashley Grayson.”

“I prepared her Biodata already. It’s all in the envelope. That’s all I have for now, Alpha Kilhan. Please, can I leave?” He asked in fear.

“Leave.”

Immediately, he rushed out of the office and even forgot to shut the door. I approached the door and locked it, still feeling Khan’s control over me.

I walked to where the papers were littered all over the floor and began to pick them up again.

‘He had an affair.’ These words kept ringing in my head. The love between my parents had always been a standard for me, and I’ve always dreamt of having such love with my mate.

I was highly disappointed and so was Khan, and the best way we both could express ourselves was through anger.

After gathering the papers, I walked back to my desk and laid them on it, reading through them carefully. I also read through her Biodata and nothing seemed so exciting about her.

She is forty-four, went to a federal school, is from an average and unknown family, is the first child of her already deceased parents, even though she was adopted, and has a sister, Sarah Grayson, who was the real daughter of her parents.

‘What the hell spiked up my father’s interest in her?’ I wondered, shaking my head in disgust and disappointment. I found the picture of her Jarius attached, and I raised my eyebrows as I stared at her.

‘To hell with this! He was with her because she loves young and pretty?! And then mom suspected?!’ I wondered again.

“Hey, you at the door, I need my mom in here!” I yelled, with my eyes still locked on the papers.

“Yes, Alpha Kilhan!” The bodyguard at the door answered, and I heard him walk away.

Reading about her increased my curiosity and I wanted to know more. Not just about her this time, but also about her family. I wasn’t going to destroy only her for destroying my family, I won’t spare her sister either.

I picked up my phone and sent a text to Jarius. “Get me the Biodata of her sister.”

Just then, the door opened and my mother walked in with a wide smile on her face.

“Kilhan, you should have seen me and Jessica in the garden today! It was one of the best stroll times ever!” She gushed as she approached my desk.

But when she finally saw the look on my face, her smile washed off instantly. “What’s wrong, son? Who got you pissed?” She asked worriedly.

I swallowed hard and let out a deep breath, trying to calm Khan down completely.

“Mom, please sit.” I pointed to the chair in front of my desk. She hastily sat and nodded. “I’m listening. You are scaring me, Kilhan. You don’t look fine.”

“Did you at one point suspect that my father was having an affair?” I asked, and I saw a confused look come up her face.

“What do you mean? What are you talking about?”

“Did you ever suspect he was having an affair? Did strange travel arrangements exist out of the blue??” I further asked, hoping she was going to tell me nothing but the truth.

“Why are you asking this? What did you find?” She asked, looking at my desk.

“Mom, please! Just answer the damn question!”

Her eyes widened as I raised my voice, and she hastily nodded. “Yes, I did suspect, but I had no evidence. He was still being sweet to me, so I just concluded it was all in my head and I let it go. Did he really have an affair?” She inquired, and I shook my head.

“No.”

“Don’t lie to me, Kilhan! You wouldn’t ask me that if something didn’t come up!”

“They are trying to bring that into my investigation to distract me from the main issue. I know Dad would never do that, and I just wanted to know from you too. Since there is no proof, then it’s all made up.”

“But why would someone do that?”

“Because people are evil. They don’t need reasons to ruin a person’s life. That’s all I wanted to know, Mom. And don’t think about it. People are just crazy.”

“I hope I won't think about it.” She answered, letting out a sigh.

I knew I shouldn’t have asked her because then she’d keep thinking about it, but at the same time, I needed to know. If I told her the details, she’d end up in the hospital again.

“Where is Jessica?” I asked as I stood up.

“Oh… I saw her some minutes ago and she told me she was heading out.”

“Out?” I creased my brows, and she nodded.

“You didn’t tell me,” I responded as she stood up too.

“Well, you better get to her before she leaves.” She told me, and I nodded in agreement.

“Let’s go.”

We made our way out of my office, and while she headed to her room, I headed to Jessica’s.

“Jessica?” I called as I knocked on her door twice before opening. I walked in and saw her in front of her mirror, looking so beautiful in her casual outfit.

“Wow. And where are you going, beautiful?” I asked as I moved closer to her. Her cologne filled my nostrils and instantly, I felt so much better than I was a few minutes ago,

I embraced her from behind and rested my head on her shoulder so I could look at her face from inside the mirror. I noticed her look and saw she had a frown on.

“Hey… what’s wrong?” I asked worriedly, moving from behind her and standing in front of her.

“I’m going to see Xavier.” She answered coldly, turning to leave, but I quickly grabbed her hand.

“Xavier? Why?” I asked in confusion and curiosity.

“Can’t I see a friend?” She asked, struggling to snatch her hand from me.

“Wait! Can you at least tell me what happened? Why are you so mad at me? I came to see you so you can help me feel better.”

“Really? Then why did you shut the door against me that way?”

“What? What are you talking about?”

“You saw me approaching your office and you shut the door and locked it from behind.” She muttered angrily.

“Oh my… Jessica, I swear on my father’s grave I had no idea you were coming. I didn’t see you. I’m sorry, okay? I would never do that to you and you know that.”

I closed the gap between us and cupped her face in my hand. “I’m sorry, my love. Please don’t be mad at me. I won’t be able to survive knowing you are angry with me.” I added, pouting my lips.

She rolled her eyes and shook her head. “Maybe I’ll forgive you when I get back from seeing Xavier.” She shrugged.

“But do you have to go? I really need you right now.” I mumbled.

“Why though? What happened?” She asked, folding her arms.

Before I could respond, there was a flashing lightning from outside the window, accompanied by thunder roaring furiously.

“Is that rain?!” Jessica asked in awe, running to her open window to look at the sky. I followed behind her and saw the clouds gathering up so fast, and the brightness of the day slowly reduced.

“Perfect. Now you will have to stay home and dance in the rain with me.” I whispered behind her ear happily.

“Dance in the rain?!” She asked in surprise, and I nodded.

“I’ve always wanted to do that and we’ll do it today, right now! Let’s go!” In excitement, I reached for her hand and began to pull her out of her room.

“Wait! My clothes! The rain will ruin them!” She cried from behind as she kept following me.

“Don’t worry, I’ll buy ten more to replace them!”
