Chapter 31: Mate is here with me

Kaden.

“Can I check her, Alpha?” The Pack Doctor asked when we got home, he was the one who had treated her wolf in the hospital Doctor James, and he came the moment he was called.

I placed Janine on the bed and took off the jacket from her body.

He examined the wound on her body for some minutes and turned to me. I used my other hand to cover her body.

“I have seen the wounds, and she’s not in any danger she just needs to have some rest, and she might sleep for two more days. You don’t have to worry, she will recover perfectly.” He examined. “She healed.” He stated as if there was something he wasn’t sure of.

“What is it?” I frowned.

“Her wolf...” He rubbed the goatee beards on his jaw. “Did you notice anything strange with her wolf? How big is she?”

She was bigger than I thought, except that she was very defensive, I didn’t get to see anything wrong with her wolf. “I didn’t notice anything strange and she’s big almost as big as my wolf. She’s strong and aggressive, her eyes sparkled too.” I stated the things that I noticed when I saw her.

“She’s a Beta Wolf, and despite being a werewolf those wounds on her body couldn’t have healed so quickly but it did.”

I stared at Janine and fixed my eyes on the doctor. “A Beta wolf?”

“Yes.” He nodded.

How is she a Beta female?

Who was her parents? Where are they a Beta to a pack? Who among her parents is a Beta? Is it her father or her mother?

I was even more curious about Janine, I knew she was special, and there was something about her.

“There’s something else, I haven’t seen it in years of working in the pack hospital.”

“Every werewolves can heal themselves.”

Dr. James sighed and stared at Janine. “What color was her eyes?”

“Blue.”

He nodded. “Do you want me to do more research? I would have to extract some of her blood to know more about her. There might be something we’ll find her.”

My eyes went to Janine, and I took her hand.

Will she agree to this?

I have to tell her about it when she wakes up.

I turned to the Doctor. “As long as it’s gonna help us find out about her root. You may know that Janine is adopted, and we might get to use it to find her parents if there’s a match.”

I dropped Janine’s hand and stood up from the bed. I walked towards Doctor James and stood before him. “...it has to be a secret between us, nobody has to know about this and there’s no third party if anyone gets to know about what I told you, you will pay the price for it,” I warned.

“Yes, Alpha.” He lowered his head went to the box he brought along and took out a syringe, he took Janine’s arm and injected it, drawing her blood.

He removed the syringe when he was done, and kept it carefully on the box he came with.

I walked to the door and opened it, and he bowed.

“I won’t see you out.”

“You don’t have to Alpha.” He left.

I shut the door and went back to bed, I had called a maid to attend to Janine and dressed her up. I didn’t want to leave her side, I wanted her to know that I was here with her when she woke up.

She was cleaned, and dressed in a comfortable wear by the maid, and was left alone.

I took back my spot beside the bed and lay on my side watching her sleep.

The Pack Doctor said there was nothing wrong with her, and that made me feel relieved.

I was going to watch her sleep, that was what I thought and didn’t know when I fell asleep beside her. My eyes fluttered when I felt soft fingers on my face, I opened my eyes fully and saw Janine staring at me, her fingers went to my hair and she played with it, my smile spread out on my face, and I sneaked my hand around her waist and pulled her closer.

“The doctor said you’ll rest for two days.” My hoarse voice whispered beside her ear, and my other hand went to the back of her head and held her tight in my arms, inhaling the scent of mate with my head on the side of her neck.

Her hands wrapped around my neck, and I could hear her soft intake of breath.

Would Doctor James find it strange as well, that she woke up this soon?

I held her in my arms, and stared at her face, my fingers neatly placed the strand of hair that had fallen on her face behind her ears, and leaned in stealing a kiss on her lips.

She blinked her eyes when I pulled away. I kissed her hand and squeezed it. “I’m sorry I didn’t come sooner.” I left her hand and held her face with both hands, she shook her head.

“I should have been there, I left you alone. I will make sure that doesn’t happen to you again.” I said in a low tone, and placed a tender kiss on her forehead, and trailed it down her nose, and back to her lips.

I lowered myself over her, and my body was a bit pressed to hers, she inhaled as I kissed her deep, and my tongue slid over hers in a slow measured motion.

I pulled my head up and away from her, her eyes were simmering in the low light in the room, and I was leveraging my weight on my arm. I reached to her with my free hand and stroked her hair pushing it away from her face, touching her cheek, and caressing her jaw.

“I missed you, Janine.”

Her eyes watered, and she leaned forward and touched my lips with hers.

I felt my heart going a mile in just a minute.
