Chapter 74: SARAH
SARAH
I regretted not going after Lena with Dalia. Dalia is strong but the witches are very cunning. I wonder what they did to her. I should have known that Lena set a trap for us. I had a feeling that she might know what Dalia and I are up to. I regretted not giving that feeling a thought. If I had doubted that Lena is working with the witches —which I didn't— I believe that Dalia's disappearance is clear proof.
But the problem now is how I will convince Ezekiel that Lena is working with the witches and she has a hand in Dalia's disappearance. I walk into the living room, every eye on me. I said that Dalia went after Lena but I don't think they will believe me.
“What do you mean she went after Lena?” Alpha Ezekiel asks. He is staring deep into my eyes, looking for a lie and that gives me chills.
I look at Lena. She's glaring at me but I don't give a fuck. I will do everything to make Ezekiel believe me if it means saving Dalia.
“I know that this will be hard for you to believe, but Dalia and I discovered something. We found out that Lena is working with the witches.”
“What the fuck.” Nikolai looks at me as if I've lost my mind for saying that.
“What the fuck are you talking about, Sarah?” Alpha Ezekiel's voice is low with warning. I know the consequences of accusing someone he sees as a sister but I'm ready to take that risk.
“I'm telling the truth. Lena is not who you think she is.” I look at Lena with anger, my chest raising and falling. She's silent, not trying to defend herself because she knows that Alpha Ezekiel will never believe me.
“Listen Sarah, this is not the time to play jokes. Dalia is missing and I need to look for her. I don't have time for all these,” Alpha Ezekiel says as he tries to walk away.
“I was the last person that spoke with Dalia!” Alpha Ezekiel halts and turns to face me with a frown. I hope he's not thinking that I have something to do with Dalia's disappearance.
“We cast a spell which helps us talk to each other through our minds. Dalia and I found out that Lena is working with the witches because we know that you won't believe us without evidence. We decided to find one by keeping an eye on Lena. Early this morning, I saw Lena leaving the pack. I wanted to follow her to know where she's going and what she's up to. I told Dalia but she said I should stay back, that she will follow Lena herself. Whatever happened to Dalia, Lena is responsible. You have to believe me.” At this point I'm begging. I really don't know any other way. I have no evidence. I will just have to pray he believes me.
“You are so ridiculous, Sarah. I was in the hospital last night and only returned to the pack house in the early morning.”
“Stop the act, Lena.” I cut in. “What I don't understand is why you are betraying your own people.”
“You are the one that should stop the act, Sarah. You are a witch and the only one not to be trusted here. It could be you who did something to Dalia,” she snark as she held my arms tightly. “Tell us what you did to Dalia.”
I stare at Ezekiel. The look in his eyes shows that he believes Lena over me. The sly bitch is trying to make me the culprit. Of course. It will be easy to believe that I am the one who hurts Dalia since I'm a witch.
“Believe me, Alpha. I can never hurt Dalia. You need to use Alpha command to force Lena to tell us where Dalia is before it becomes too late to find her.” I say, sounding so desperate. I just can’t bear the thought of something bad happening to Dalia.
“Or it will be you that should be interrogated,” Nikolai says coldly. He takes an intimidating step towards me. I gulp down in fear as I take a step back. If they lock me up and torture me, they will be wasting time. Why can't they believe me?
I try speaking to Dalia through the link we created but she isn't responding. And this makes me more nervous that something bad must have happened to her and the more we waste time in finding her, the more danger she will be in.
“Tell me, Sarah, where is Dalia?.” Alpha Ezekiel asks with a cold sinister voice. His voice is so lethal that it makes me shudder. An idea comes into my mind. I will try to stall time while I figure out how to reach Dalia. I know that I won't have access to the coven again since I'm a traitor. I will take them where the coven is. No one will see it unless the witches want you to see it. Annika told me that they have banned me from the coven. It means that I won't be able to find the coven even with the knowledge of knowing where it is.
“I think I know where she will be.” I look at the horror on Lena's face. “I know that I was banned and I won't find the coven, but there's no harm in trying. Also, Lena will come with us. I will show you guys who she really is.”
“Kiel, this is her stalling. The more we waste time to torture her and find out where Dalia is, the more danger Dalia will be in,” Lena says as she glares at me.
“Lena is right. This witch is up to something and we shouldn't trust her blindly,” Nikolai adds. I look up at Alpha Ezekiel. He's the only one I need his approval. I only need him to believe me and trust me.
“I will go with you to wherever you think that Dalia is. I'm not doing this because I trust you but because I trust Dalia. And Dalia happens to trust you.”
“Kiel!” Lena is pale as a ghost. “If you believe her it means you believe that I'm a traitor.”
Another emotional blackmail. I hope Alpha Ezekiel won't fall for it.
“At this point, all I care about is to find Dalia. And don't worry, I know what I'm doing. If the witch tries anything stupid, I won't hesitate to decapitate her body.”
I gulp down in fear, knowing that Alpha Ezekiel isn't bluffing. He will do just like he says. Right now all I can do is hope and believe that Dalia will talk to me.
