Chapter 69 EZEKIEL
EZEKIEL
“I will protect them. Jerald will face punishment, but it certainly won't be death,” I say. I mean what I said
“I already assured her that.”
“What more did she tell you?” I start circling my fingers on her back and the way her body is responding shows that she loves it.
“She talked about a book which I believe is the prophecy book we need. It's with the witches. That book will definitely give us all the answers that we need and we need to get our hands in it.”
This prophecy book…. could it be where the sorcerer that helped me in stopping the war years ago found out a way to lock the gate? He died before I could even learn more from him. Like how he found out how to lock the gate. If I had known something about the prophecy book, it wouldn't have fallen into the witches hands.
“Did she know how we can get it?”
“No,” she replies “But we will find a way. Samara is fine. She would have died or turned into the witches’ puppet if I didn't save her on time.”
“I'm glad you did,” I say and gently kiss her temple. I know I was scared that something bad may happen to her, but I'm glad she always disobeys me and does something good. If she didn't save Samara, Sarah wouldn't have trusted us. “What about the witch? Did Sarah tell you who she is?”
I need to know who that bitch is and how she got into my pack.
“She did. But the witch is dead.”
“What, how is that possible?”
“She killed herself just like Annika. Sarah used the location spell to find her, but she was dead already. And she didn't die here. Sarah thinks she died in Tudor's pack.”
“Tudor?” I asked with a raised brow. “Isn't he the Alpha of the dark valley pack?”
She raises her head from my chest, wearing a serious look. It's as if what she's about to tell me is serious.
“I don't think our enemy is far. They are closer than we think.”
“What do you mean?” I don't like how sure she sounds. It means there's someone betraying me and I don't like the sound of it. Betrayal is what I hate so much and I even hate it more if it's coming from people I trust.
“Sarah said something about an Alpha working with the witches, and I think it's Tudor.”
“I don't think so. Tudor is one of the good Alphas I have.”
“Remember that you trusted Jerald, and still he betrayed you. Anyone can betray you Zeke. Don't trust blindly.”
If I don't trust anyone, how will I lead my kingdom? A good King is someone who can hold his subject's loyalty. If I lose their loyalty, I'm not worthy to be called a King. It means they don't believe in me.
“Leon told me about his mother always visiting the dark valley pack. I think that's where Annika took his mother's body and Tudor must have helped her to do it. What I don't know is Mrs. Adams' business with Tudor's pack.”
“You know that even though I'm a King, I can't just call out an Alpha without any evidence.” That's the rule that has been for ages. I respect the Alphas, they respect me. Simple as that.
“I know. We just have to create evidence.”
“How?”
“We will call everyone and tell them what we learn from Sarah. Someone will make a move because there's another traitor we need to catch.”
She sounds so sure, but I know that if there's anyone in the circle of the six people I trust so much that is betraying me, I don't think I will be able to trust anyone again.
………..
DALIA
We called a meeting. The seven of us were present, including Lena. I told Sarah about it. We will let Lena know of all our plans so we will be able to catch her in the act. That's the only way Ezekiel will see and believe the truth. I told them everything that Sarah told me, including Lydia's deaths. They were skeptical in trusting Sarah but I told them she is to be trusted.
“How are we sure she's not still mentally ill, or she's deceiving us. For all we know, she's a witch,” Lena said. She's the only one who is still adamant that Sarah is not to be trusted. And of course, I know why she's acting that way. She doesn't want us to trust Sarah because she knows that Sarah's intentions are genuine.
“She's to be trusted,” I said stiffly. I think she notices the stiffness in my voice but I flash her a fake smile. For me to expose who Lena is, I don't want her to know that I suspect her. I want her to believe that everything is still good between us.
“What about Tudor? What reason does he have to work with his enemies? That's why I'm saying we should consider not trusting that witch.” She added.
“I think Lena is right.” Elder Owen cuts in. “Tudor is an Alpha. Why will he betray his people?”
“He has many reasons to betray his people. Hunger for power can turn someone into a monster. I trust Sarah, so you all should trust her.”
Ezekiel wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me close to himself. “I trust Dalia, and as your Alpha, I want you to trust me.”
And that was it. Everyone was okay with the outcome of the meeting, except Lena. Well, no one noticed it, except me. Ezekiel said that he will call Tudor to court and question him with his Alpha command. It is according to law. He has the right to use his Alpha command on any of his Alpha's if he suspects they are hiding or doing something bad. Since he is the Alpha King, he has the power to command other Alphas.
…..
After the meeting, Ezekiel pulls me to his room. “You were sexy back there. The way you get them to trust you. Your confidence and all. You are definitely my queen,” he whispers as he kisses my earlobe.
“You supported me. That made it easier.”
“I will always support you.” He trails the kiss down my neck. Kissing and sucking. I suck in a breath when he kisses the sensitive part where his mark will be one day. That makes me wonder if I'm ready to carry his mark. Do I want to be his forever? If all these ends. Do I still want to be with him?
He admitted his feelings for me and I believe they are genuine. I also believe that I feel the same for him. But I don't know why I feel that something bad will happen and all these will become a dream.
