Chapter 35 Celeste
Celeste's POV
That afternoon, after Liam's school, I discussed many things with Beta Dylan, Gamma Silas, and Delta Giana in my office.
On the coffee table were four cups of tea, steak, fries, cheese and chocolate donuts. We ate while chatting, completely forgetting about the tea until the air conditioning left it cold.
"Alpha Jackson already knows Alpha Eiden has two sons, twins." Beta Dylan looked at Alpha Jackson's social media accounts with that cruel gaze. I don't know what he was thinking. "Honestly, I'm a little annoyed that he thinks Levi is also Alpha Eiden's son."
"I don't know if that's good or bad for Alpha." Delta Giana, sitting next to me, looked at me with knitted brows. "But we should make Alpha Jackson believe his assumption."
"It would be dangerous if Alpha Jackson were to dig deeper into Alpha Eiden's children," Gamma Silas said as he cut the steak. "He'll ask the rogues or send his warrior spies into the rogue clan."
"Alpha Jackson is just like Alpha Eiden; they don't attack rogues and lycans, and they have few enemies, but he's quite active in attacking his enemies." Beta Dylan was still reading the file on Alpha Jackson.
“He doesn’t like to waste his money,” Beta Dylan added. “So if he’s curious about Alpha Eiden’s children, he’ll send his spy warriors to the rogue clan.” He smiled crookedly as he looked at all of us.
“I know what you’re thinking,” I said to Beta Dylan, who was sitting across from me. “You’ll send our men to capture them.”
“That’s what we have to do.” Beta Dylan snapped his fingers and nodded twice. “We have agents scattered around the world, and finding them won’t be difficult.” He waved his hand. He completely underestimated Alpha Jackson's spy warriors.
“We’ve already placed one of our agents in his pack.” Beta Dylan poured some ketchup on some of his fries. “Even if he’s alone, we can’t doubt him; he’s a professional. He won’t miss a single piece of information he hears.”
“Plus, he can already sneak among the warriors.” Gamma Silas smiled broadly. He was a teacher who took pride in his students' achievements.
"I hope we can catch Alpha Jackson's spy warriors before they enter the rogue clan's border gate, or if possible, they'll be caught as they leave the werewolf clan's territory," I said firmly. This was my order to my men.
"I’ll pass this on to the agents and warriors I plan to assign to the mission, Alpha." Gamma Silas looked excited, and his eyes showed he already had names in mind.
"I honestly regret one thing," Beta Dylan said as he looked at me after he placed the file on Alpha Jackson on the table. "Why isn't Liam wearing some rogue-scented perfume? Those perfumes we produce never fail."
"Benedict and I had no idea Liam would meet his biological father and that things would turn out like this." I shook my head, staring gloomily at my desk, where Benedict used to sit.
"If Liam had worn that perfume from the start, he would have been safe from that organization and Alpha Jackson's warrior spies," I said with regret and confusion as to whether this was all my fault.
They were silent because they didn't know what to say.
“That werewolf-hating organization has put Liam on their watch list. He’s clearly in danger.” Delta Giana decided to stop talking about Alpha Jackson since we had already found a solution.
“They also suspect Alpha Eiden is using a scent-masking perfume,” Gamma Silas said. “Plus, he's wearing a mask, glasses, and a hat.”
“Alpha is right that they would approach Liam if he were alone, but…” Beta Dylan looked at me deeply, “They are even more curious about why Liam is a werewolf, while you and Levi are rogues, and who is the man who has been with you guys lately, you surely know who I am talking about.”
“That’s absolutely true.” Gamma Silas nodded. He showed us a message from our agent who was monitoring the werewolf-hating organization. “They plan to kidnap you all, and if possible, while Alpha Eiden is with you.”
I held my breath hearing that.
I never thought that organization would target Liam, but I couldn't regret what had happened, because it was through attending kindergarten that Liam met his biological father.
"I don't want to think about this, but I have to tell you." A moment of hesitation flashed in Beta Dylan's eyes as they locked onto mine.
“If they really wanted to capture Liam, at least you and Levi weren’t with him. It would have been easier for us to just take Liam from their place,” Beta Dylan said. “If Levi were willing to be left at home without you, I wouldn’t have asked you not to wait for Liam.”
I bit my lower lip, and my throat suddenly went dry. What Beta Dylan said was so true that I couldn't be angry with him.
I had to believe in my members and hoped that the Moon Goddess would always protect Liam.
"So Levi and I don't wait for Liam, but we drop him off or pick him up. Is that the best thing for Liam?" I looked at them all with teary eyes, my chest felt tight, but I had to put Liam’s safety first.
"We need to decide who can replace me—someone who can make that werewolf-hating organization think twice before going near Liam." I forced myself to stay calm, even though the thought of being away from my children for hours filled me with terror.
The room was silent for a few minutes. We were busy thinking. We couldn't make a hasty decision.
“I have an idea,” said Beta Dylan, looking at us all seriously. “What if we appoint an agent or warrior to be Liam’s uncle? He’d wear werewolf-scented perfume. He’d have to be friendly and sociable.”
“I think I know who could be Liam’s uncle,” said Delta Giana. She took my hand. “Don’t worry, Alpha, you can trust our agent.”
I wrung my hands together, anxiety gripping me. 'What do you think, Alea?' I asked my wolf.
'Let’s see if this is best for the three of you,' my wolf replied, reassuring me.
I took a deep breath and exhaled quickly, but I still couldn’t calm down. “I can still drop him off or pick him up, right?”
“Yes, we can schedule a time.” Beta Dylan nodded.
I pondered for a moment, my head bowed, staring at my clenched hands. Hopefully, this would stop the werewolf-hating organization's plan to capture Liam.
“Okay. Let's discuss another topic.” I sat up straight and smoothed my shirt sleeves. My hands reached for the cheese donut and the cold tea. I chewed and sipped with heavy breaths.
At least I felt happy and relieved that the three of them were thinking about Liam. Yeah, I know they were just afraid of our existence being discovered.
“Let's talk about an organization that's looking for rogue assassin groups," Delta Giana said after she made sure I was focused on the topic.
“They’re so stupid,” Beta Dylan snorted.
"Even though they won't be able to find our base, we must remain vigilant and not underestimate them." I quipped at Beta Dylan, and the man just grinned.
"Security needs to be tightened. Everyone has to be careful coming in and out of the base." Gamma Silas nodded in agreement.
"The number of people obsessed with finding us has increased since Mr. Anderson's third son died at the hands of our assassins," said Delta Giana. "They are his subordinates who are angry with us."
"Besides, they also want to know who is commanding us," Gamma Silas added.
"They were loyal to their boss and frustrated with searching for us, so they decided to join that organization." Beta Dylan scoffed at the men.
"That's the consequence we have to face." Rogue assassins live to be feared and hated.
I reached into my pants pocket to take out my vibrating phone and read Alpha Eiden's message.
\[Do you have a moment? I have something to tell you.\]
Is he going to talk about Alpha Jackson's two warrior spies?
