Chapter 98: Veera vs Emerald
Meanwhile back at Apsara Island.
Like a scene from the gladiator movie.
Veera was thrown in the sun blazing Arena, now dressed up in a gladiator gear.
The stadium horn sounded three times by one of Orlov’s minion
“Please welcome to the Arena your ruler Orlov!” and in floated Orlov waving at the crowds.
“Orlov!”
“Orlov!”
“Orlov!”
(Oh please!)
The crowds cheered throwing roses at him and he caught it making the roses fly around him in a extravagant manner, then burning it with his fire powers. He was the only Apsara on the island that had could control the element of air and fire.
Veera rolled her eyes as he went and did the Mexican wave, hyping the crowds more with his minion. The crowds adored him and it was quite clear that Orlov loved being the centre of attention.
Then she saw two air Apsaras floating by, watching the crowds discreetly. He had his bodyguards just in case a member of the audience decided to come at Orlov.
“Master Orlov!”
“We love you!!”
Two love sick fan girls used their floating powers to get to him, but his bodyguards were quick and reprimanded them making them crash back into their seats. To keep his reputation as a good leader that cared, he threw back a rose at his frightened yet annoyed fan girls. They started fighting over the rose and Orlov chuckled waving back at the rest of the crowds, like an obvious celebrity.
The Apsara leader, looked down at Veera who seemed quite annoyed at him. It was understandable, after all he took her friend and had her cute little aunt all to himself up in that booth.
His Minion Guz threw him the mic.
“Apsaras, we have all gathered here today to welcome back a lost sheep!”
The crowds were all dressed in red robes, and cheered at Orlov as he spoke.
Veera could see Aunt Rita was now dressed in red robe and sat with her hands tied
next to Orlov’s side, as he returned back to his booth. He winked at Rita who in return gave him a cold look. Then his attention fell on Veera and the crowds booing at her.
“SILENCE ALL!” Orlov’s voice boomed in a terrific manner, calming the angry crowds down at once. He smiled over to the crowd that had his attention then grinned down at his biggest fan (note the sarcasm).
“Apsaras Veera here will now fight her dearest friend for her aunt’s freedom.”
A cage door opened up and out came Emerald, dressed in a gladiator outfit and looking very very calm, as of she was some kind of tame robot. Veera noticed her eyes were unnaturally glowing silver.
Veera looked back at Orlov angrily, who grinned deviously back down at her.
“If Veera wins, her aunt and her friend (if she survives) will get to go home.”
The crowds booed, and started throwing pieces of rotten apples and banana peels and at her.
Veera ignored the sounds of the crowds and concentrated back on Emerald who was not showing any kind of emotion.
“However if Veera looses…”
“Oooohhh…” The crowds loved a bit of suspense.
“If she looses, Veera along with her aunt will stay back on Apsara island. She will take her rightful place amongst us, and she will marry Valerio.” He announced ever so carefreely.
Veera was shocked to hear this and instantly spotted Valerio sitting next to his booth.
There was a round of applause from the crowds after hearing that. They both held eye contact for a while, until he grinned back at her. Valerio picked up a rose and floated it at her with his ice powers.
Veera on the other hand, grabbed her sword and sliced the rose to his sudden proposal, and gave him the m!ddle finger.
The crowds boo’d at her and Valerio sat down holding back his sigh.
“Well that went well.” Orlov chuckled and then nodded at Guz to start the match.
“Fighters! Are, you ready?!”
Don’t pick up that sword!
Don’t pick up that sword!
Emerald cracked a wicked grin and picked up a spear from the side instead, and threw it directly, with absolute precision.
Veera dodged the spear with a sharp gasp. She couldn’t believe her best friend just did that.
Guz fired the whistle and the fight commenced.
There were three spears in total on each player’s side. Emerald quickly took the second spear and aimed it again at Veera. Veera dodged again, but it was like she was getting closer and closer to striking her.
Emerald angrily groaned out missing her target, she was set to kill thanks to Orlov’s brain washing. She took the last spear and ran angrily towards her Veera.
The crowds cheered at Emerald who was full on attack mode. Orlov ate his grapes in delight, and offered one to Rita whose eyes were glued on to the Arena, worriedly like a sick mother. Valerio watched on quite entertained by Veera in the Arena.
.
.
The spears struck together.
CLANG!
“Emerald!! Please snap out of this! This isn’t you!” Veera said worriedly as her best friend showed no sign of herself.
She pushed Veera away with great force. Veera stumbled on her back, and Emerald proceeded to kick her on her stomach, quite hard, that Veera coughed up blood from her mouth.
She was so shocked, that Emerald too the spear and went to strike with it again. Veera noticed this and rolled away just in time in the gravely sandy ground.
The crowds cheered on to the ruthless fight.
Emerald was pissed off that she kept on getting away from her.
She refused to fight back. But Emerald kept on coming at her harder and stronger with each attack. Veera quickly got her sword and struck at the spear, splitting it into half and Emerald groaned out angrily chucking it away from her.
“EM! PLEASE!!!”
“SHUT UP WOLF LOVER.”
The swords met with anger and Veera angrily looked back into her lifeless steel eyes.
This wasn’t her talking at all. She knew all to well, that Orlov was somehow talking through her.
“That’s right I am! So what!”
“TRAITOR!”
The fight continued and Veera swished her sword so angrily that she managed to throw her friends sword away a good mile from her hand.
The crowds were shocked and Orlov raised a brow at Veera.
“Excellent fighter isn’t she Valerio?”
Valerio stayed silent not answering him straight away.
Veera pointed her sharp sword at her. Emerald showed no sign of fear, but suddenly dropped to her knees and looked up at her.
“Emerald get up!”
“You need to finish this or I will.” She said looking at her so dead seriously and calmly.
Veera was on the verge of tears, her best friend just asked her to kill her?!
“I won’t do that!” Veera threw away her sword, and Emerald took no chance waiting for another opportunity and attacked her going on wrestle mode.
The crowds went wild with excitement and Orlov laughed out in a entertained mode.
“This is better than wrestle mania!” He commented.
“Enough!!! Let the girls go back, I’ll stay in their place please!!”
Rita begged with her eyes brimming with tears, as she saw two girls that were great friends fighting it out on the battle ground like sudden enemies.
Orlov, back hugged Rita and stroked her jaw In a teasing way. Rita tried to squirm out of his hold clenching her jaw, but Orlov grabbed her chin and made her look down in a forceful manner.
“Rita, rules are rules sweetheart. You know I can’t break them. The crowds won’t like that. Besides, I’m here to give them what they want, and right now, it’s that.”
He let her go and went on about eating his grapes.
.
.
Emerald and Veera fought angrily trying to out wrestle each other out, but Veera was doing her best not to harm her. Emerald punched and grabbed her head, pulling it back. Veera yelled out in pain, and grabbed the sand from the ground and struck it at her eyes, causing Emerald to release her as she groaned out.
She shook the sand out of her eyes, and gained back her silver vision.
“You b!tch”
“I’m so sorry Emerald, but you seriously need to snap out of it!”
Veera punched Emerald square in the jaw. Her best stumbled backwards and fell to the ground.
Knocked. Out.
The crowds were stunned by the outcome and murmurs began to fly.
“Em?! Emerald!!! Oh, my god! Are you ok?” Veera slapped her friends face slightly and Emerald came too releasing a sudden breath.
Orlov sighed.
His mind spell was broken.
“Veera?”
Her eyes had returned back to her normal green ones, and Veera smiled seeing as her friend recognising her. She hugged her and pulled away with relief as Emerald looked around her surroundings.
“Ouch.” She rubbed her jaw and Veera stroked her cheek gently, helping her up.
“Why are we dressed like we belong in the gladiator movie V?”
“You don’t remember anything?”
She shook her head, as the last memory she recalled was being in the cave like dungeon with her aunt.
“It’s ok. We need to get out of here.” Veera said and started walking her towards the open exit in the Arena.
But a spear came flying down, landing right Infront of them.
“Where do you think you’re going? The match is not over. One of you need to die.” Guz said in his minion way.
The crowds cheered on.
“You hear that. They are hear that? They are hear to see death. Not victory.” Another spear came flying right at them, and Veera was not prepared with a weapon. Emerald screamed out as the spear came flying towards her fast.
Veera quickly shielded her, and she was just about to take a hit.
Suddenly, a loud growl trembled the Earth and in a flash a shadow came right in front of Veera.
The man with sharp vicious glowing blue eyes caught the spear, with one hand. He took the same spear and shot it back at Guz harshly causing it to strike at his body, that went flying up against the wall.
Killing him instantly.
