Chapter 21 Chapter 21

Chapter 21 Chapter 21
(Alpha Andrew's POV):

"Got it, Alpha. We have a pack funfair coming up next month to celebrate the second half of the year," Thomas said respectfully as he kept his gaze focused on the road.

"Got it. That is why I would like to visit there too to ensure that everything is in accordance," I replied calmly, despite my turbulent heart.

"Alright, Alpha," Thomas said before the rest of the car turned silent.

I watched the road, gazing out of the window of my black car. Pack members bowed as they stood by the pedestrian waiting for the road to clear before crossing over.

Thomas continued driving for a few more minutes before he pulled up at the pack's infirmary. It was a small building for emergency treatment since we werewolves mostly heal on our own. However, I was building a much larger hospital to accommodate more patients, especially the nursing mothers.

My sister's mate, Dr. Lance Gilbert, works in the pack's infirmary. His father, Dan Gilbert, was the former pack doctor before he retired and handed over to Lance.

Lance was a good friend of mine before he got mated to my sister. Though he spent most of his time in drug research and studying more about our pack's herbs and conducting research on human anatomy to see if they are compatible with us.

I was still restless because of my sister's revelation. So I had to meet with Dr. Lance for clarity.

When Thomas pulled over at the front of the pack's infirmary, the small one-story building loomed in front of me. It was old, but the walls were still strong as I stepped out of the car and was greeted by a few passersby and the nurses standing at the front of the building.

"Welcome, Alpha," they greeted me with a bow.

"Thank you," my response was short as I made my way toward the entry. When I entered the lobby, the thick smell of disinfectant slammed me like a punch.

I stopped and looked over at Dr. Lance as he rushed out of his office to welcome me before any of the female nurses at the nurses' desk could ask me what I wanted.

"Welcome, Alpha Andrew," Dr. Lance greeted me with a smile and bow, despite being my brother-in-law and my sister's mate.

"Thank you, Lance. How is work?" I asked him as he smiled, wearing a yellow shirt and black trousers. He was tall and dark-skinned like me, and he grinned, "Cool, Alpha. When did you return? I was still planning to close from work and come to the palace to welcome you."

"You don't have to push yourself so hard to come and greet me. You should create more time to spend with my sister," I replied, folding up my short sleeves as I put my hands behind my back and met Dr. Lance's smiling face. He always had this wide grin that made anyone feel relaxed and open to him.

I guessed that was one of the qualities of being a doctor: to charm his patients. But I wasn't a patient at the moment.

"I do create time for Judith. She can vouch for me on this," Dr. Lance said, his tone confident.

"Alright. I would like to discuss something confidential with you. Can we go to your office since you are about to leave? I won't waste much of your time," I pointed out, and though a wave of worry crashed down on Dr. Lance's features.

"Alpha, I hope there is no problem," he asked, meeting my gaze worriedly.

"No. Let's go. We can discuss this in your office," I replied coolly, and Dr. Lance led the way to his small office.

Once in his office, which featured an office chair and two guest chairs and a long bed where he conducts quick assessments of sick patients, my gaze returned to Dr. Lance as we sat across from each other.

"So, back to our earlier conversation. I already ordered some of the medical machinery and scanning equipment that you requested. But they will take at least three to five days to arrive here," I let him know, and he looked relieved.

"Got it, Alpha. Is there anything else?" Dr. Lance pressed, his features tensed when his black eyes locked with my golden eyes.

"Nothing aside from that. Those medical machines you wrote about cost a fortune to obtain. But if it will help our pack members, it is worth buying them for future use," my reply was simple as I thought about prioritizing our pack members.

"Of course, Alpha. The machines will help. Especially the MRI and CT scan machines—we don't have them to assess the spine of some paralyzed patients," Dr. Lance pointed out, and I nodded.

"Got it. So, back to my other confidential discussion," I said, my tone shifting to a steady but strict one. I placed my hands over the desk and leaned closer to Dr. Lance.

His heart accelerated, thudding against his rib cage as his gaze locked on mine.

"I am all ears, Alpha," Dr. Lance replied nervously, meeting my stern gaze.

My lips parted and I asked him briefly, "Is it possible for a human to conceive a werewolf's baby?"

"What?" Dr. Lance's eyes widened in shock as he asked me, "A human?"

"Yes. I want to know if there is a possibility of that. Like, if a werewolf mates with a human girl, will she get pregnant?"

Dr. Lance's throat tightened as he adjusted the spectacles around the bridge of his nose.

"Well, from my medical research, there is a chance of fertilization of the human eggs. For instance, you are half human and she is fully human. If you bring your human chromosome and she brings hers, there is a possibility for her to get pregnant, and it is more likely for the child to be human or a werewolf. So yes, a human can get pregnant. Did you mate with a human, Alpha? This is against the pack laws," Dr. Lance pointed out, and I raked my hand over my long dark hair and scratched my scalp.

"I did. But I was not thinking straight. I forgot to use condoms, and now my mother fears the human might have conceived my baby."

"What?" Dr. Lance gasped, his eyes bulging out of their sockets. "How could you be so careless as to make this bloody mistake, Alpha? I am sorry for being insulting, but you know the humans have been hunting us for years. If she gets pregnant by you, there are high chances she will birth a werewolf baby. Your blood is more active than a normal werewolf's. You need to find her to terminate the pregnancy immediately."

Dr. Lance looked serious, like he wanted to hunt for that skinny human girl himself. But I still had my doubts.

"She is skinny. She cannot have my babies."

"Alpha, don't be ridiculous. She is a woman with a womb, and you mated with her. You could have used condoms, knowing she is not from here or any other wolf pack. I will advise that you go back and find that woman and settle this matter. Whether she is skinny, chubby, or a dwarf, so long as she has a womb and you did not have oral sex with her, but rather mated with her, there are high chances of conception," Dr. Lance stated furiously, like he dreaded the possible outcome of me having a human mate and a human becoming my Luna.

"It is fine. Steven already went to search for her. I am sure he will handle everything and get back to me. Thank you for your time." I rose to leave Dr. Lance's office, and he responded, "It is my pleasure to be of your assistance, Alpha. Please, do not make such a mistake that will put all our pack members' lives at stake. Think about Rory and Piper. We do not want war or humans hunting us with deadly weapons."
